  4. I think the music fits perfectly with the images.

  5. I like it, even if the tone is overall dark; but it fits with Thomas Wheeler definition of the show " a crime drama with costumes".

  6. Maybe it have too much of comic image and only a little of real image.
    But it’s cool.

  7. Though there is a pattern : comic image at the begining, mixed images in the middle and only real images at the end.
Meaning : i have my origin in a comic-book but i live in the real world.

  8. It is very comic book like. I don't think people will take this seriously.

  9. Fantastic opening! I love it. I would have liked the opening of The Walking Dead to be comic-bookish like that.

I hope The Cape is as original as it seems, but so far it looks good.

    The show seems doomed :

    - The lovely Summer Glau stars, that's a sign.
    - It's a fantastic/sci-fi show, not very popular (people prefer to watch doctors and cops all day long).
    - NBC ordered only 8 episodes.
    - It airs in the 2nd most competitive slot of the week, and Chuck is not a real ratings magnet so it won't help.
    - And now this (kick-ass) opening appears. It is so cool but it will scare off the housewives.

I hope the show will be successful, it seems cool. This is only new drama on networks that I will watch in this 2nd half of the season (+ The Chicago Code, they are the only two worth trying imo).

  10. I’ve been reading reviews, and now that I’ve seen the opening credits, i just can’t tell if they want the show to be a kids show or a serious drama.
Well i know Wheeler wants to make a superhero drama but I don’t understand which demographic this show is supposed to be targeting.

  11. I completely agree... and yet, that is the problem with TV these days. Instead of just making a good show and letting viewers watch it, networks need to cater to a demographic group or tweak their show to gain in a certain demo group. It affects the quality in very serious ways and is why most of the best shows on TV are now found on cable TV!

  12. I understand the comic book plays a role in the plot, but honestly I am saddened to see it have so much of it in the opening credits. There have been some great comic to TV/movie adaptations, but many of them did not feel the need to have comic book opening credits... thankfully. I think the concept is interesting and the original preview I watched before the fall season had me interested... so I will for sure still watch the series, but I think that the overt comic book homage will lose MANY possible viewers before the show had a chance to grab them.
I think the comic book openings in so many of the superhero franchise movies are there for the fanboys. Most viewers do not go to see a comic brought to the screen... they go to see a movie (or TV show) and would never miss the comic book credits or animation cells etc.

  13. Are people supposed to?

  14. I'm not quite sure why it needs to be one or the other.

I thought it was a Camp Drama?

  15. If people tune out of a show because of the opening credits, before they've even seen it, then it's best they turn over and carry on being an armchair critic with something else.

Every show needs a comic book opening.

  16. I certainly do not watch shows for the opening credits, but I am well aware of MANY people that do not like comic books or superheroes and this show, in all honestly, likely needs to appeal to more than comic book fans or superhero fans to be successful. The appeal of it to me personally, is that it is not a superhuman extraordinary power based hero show... but that can be lost if one sees too many superhero like aspects in the credits. The credits can set the tone regardless of whether or not people should or should not be judging a series based on credits.

  17. Out of all of your posts about this show... I just struggle to understand what it is about it that's got your back up? It never promised to be anything other than a little here, a little there, and a little camp.

Besides, people who don't like comic books or superheros will not like this show, full stop. Why should it have to hide behind a different opening credits to please some who think they're above a bit of fun?

Bring on Adam West, I say.
