Supernatural - Weekly Poll - Best Visceral Death
15 Dec 2010
Polls SupernaturalThe nominations are in so it's time to start voting. Today we vote for the best visceral death. Which death made you cheer? Which villain's deserved death gave you the most satisfaction? Vote and then discuss in the comments. Voting lasts 2 days.

woot! first vote!!!, is kinda creepy when your vote is 100%!!
ReplyDeleteIt's still Zachariah and Ruby for me. Lilith was satisfying for me but it was overshadowed by Ruby's death in the same episode. Azazel was also phenomenal. I would actually consider this the greatest death in the whole series. It was the biggest game changer for me and a sign that the writers and producers of Supernatural were right on my wavelength.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think is the biggest death?
I went for Ruby but just after I'd clicked vote I realised it was Zachariah. Oh well, both made me pretty happy (although I did like Ruby). xD
ReplyDeleteGordon Walker. I REALLY wanted him to die and this death was so satisfying to watch.
ReplyDeleteAs ecstatic as I got over Zachariah's death, Azazel's death topped it for me because he did more damage I think to the boys.
ReplyDeleteI read th elist and my head was going "Ruby...ruby...ruby..." Then I saw the right answer and Everything screamed at me "ZACHARIAH!!!" I loved watching him die. Dirty jerk.
ReplyDeleteLilith was the "big bad" being killed, but Ruby was personal. Always more visceral when its personal....
ReplyDeleteZachariah - because he was an angel dammit and angels are supposed to be the good guys (except on SPN obviously) ...........and he was nasty to humans......actually he was nasty to everyone ........
ReplyDeleteand sanctimonious..... and bigoted.......and rude......and egotistical......and he was mean to Dean..... >:(
gotta be honest with ya, can only really remember ruby and zachariahs :/
ReplyDeleteSo are you gonna tell us how you voted?
ReplyDeleteOf course Azazel's death was the most profound...but I was more in awe than cheering. I was like "wow, they finally did it... O.o" But with Zachariah's death, I was screaming at my tv like a football game "YEHHH!!!! TAKE THAT, ZACH!" XD
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Ruby's death although it is a close call between that and the death of Azazel for me. Then I remembered Bela, just because she was annoying me, I was happy to her gone on the show.
ReplyDeleteSame here - the cat hasn't moved so fast in years, and my husband came running from the other end of the house to see what was going on......
ReplyDelete.....and Sam.....and Adam (although he WAS pretty annoying)....and he was just too big for his doucheyangeldickbag boots........
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time choosing between Ruby and Zachariah, but in the end I chose Ruby. With the way she played Sam, manipulated him and convinced him to trust her, especially when he was at his most vulnerable was just sickening.
ReplyDeleteZachariah...I just hated him. I mean he was a good villain, don't get me wrong but (in the words of Dean Winchester) his smug, fat face just irritated the hell out of me every single time he came on the screen. I cheered when he died too, especially after giving Sam a 'nudge' in the right direction when it came to killing Lilith. So yeah, tough choices, but in the end it was Ruby for me.
I keep getting questions for this show where I want check boxes so I can pick a bunch of answers.
ReplyDeleteMan, I think the death of Crowley was very impressive - and necessary.
ReplyDeleteAnna, Gordon, Zachariah, Ruby.. but what reaaaly made me happy was Christian's death. The dude was annoying, he had to go!
ReplyDeleteOh definitely! Great post btw, made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteZachariah all the way. I have never been so happy to see the death of a fictional character.
ReplyDeleteI chose Ruby. I actually liked her in season 3 because she was just so badass but she got really irritating in season 4. So yeah, I'm more than glad shes dead.
ReplyDeleteIt was a close call between Ruby and Zachariah, but Ruby won ;)
ReplyDeleteI voted for Zachariah, but man it's not surprisign that him and Ruby are leading. I hated them the most. Which means they were awesome villains.
ReplyDeleteBut Kurt Fuller did such an amazing job that I was just way more creeped put by Zach, so I cheered when he died.
And hey. Dean killed them both! Great job Deano! :D
well, it was tough between ruby and zachariah but i was so much happy when dean plunged that sword thingo through zachariah's head so i had to vote for that one
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Ruby, because IMO she helped turn Sam into an unlikable, irredeemable character. It was great to see her get what she deserved. Plus, I just love Dean's "I don't care" when he stabs her.
ReplyDeleteZachariah (Point of No Return)
ReplyDeleteI went with Ruby, cause she was annoying me all season long in season 4. Plus, she made Sam and Dean separate.
ReplyDeleteMine was a toss up between Zach, Ruby and Christian. Tho If they had put up Christian's TRUE death in Caged Heat that would have been NO contest.I had been hushing the family all thru the show up until Christian died then I literally screamed YES!!!!! Ha Dean ganked your ass ya black eyed S.O.B. I got the strangest looks over that. But in the end I voted Ruby. I was happy when Zach bit it but not as much as I was when Dean jammed her own knife into her. Christian's death tho welcoming in Family matters was overpowered by all the Bombshells exploding on the screen..
ReplyDeleteRuby dying was the best thing that EVER happened on that show. . .but I really liked how Zachariah bit it.
ReplyDeleteEverybody hates Ruby LOL!
ReplyDeleteYep! Ruby.
ReplyDeleteRuby. SO GLAD she was killed off. And as for Zachariah and Azazel, I know they were awesome deaths, but did people really hate them THAT much? They were awesome villains in my opinion, and as cool as their deaths were, I was kinda sad to see them go.
ReplyDeleteI agree on Azazel, but Zachariah was very annoying. I'd say Alastair was also the kind of villain I was happy to see get killed, but also enjoyed watching when alive. Actually I think Alastair was one of the scariest demons ever on SPN.
ReplyDeleteI think some hate Ruby, but I would not be surprised if some hate Mrs. Padalecki and liked seeing her die since she stole "their" Jared....
ReplyDeleteZachariah, no doubt. I yelled when Dean finished him, he deserved it.
ReplyDeleteThe last actor to play Alastair gave an amazing performance. I hate that he was killed off after finding the perfect actor to portray him. Azazel was such a charismatic villain, but he needed to die so the story could progress.
ReplyDeleteIt was Christopher Heyerdahl and he was AWESOME! So creepy and disturbing.....I was sorry Dean didn't get to be the one to kill him though.
ReplyDeleteLilith. Her comment to Sam just before he killed her just made me cheer when Sam killed her. Also, the Hand of Ipecac is pretty cool. You know, except for the demon blood.
ReplyDeleteWe may be "obsessed" fans but we do know the difference between a character and a real person. The character of Ruby was one of the most irritating characters the show ever had - both 1.0 and 2.0. I am happy that Genevieve Cortese and Jared Padalecki are happy together. I wish them the best of luck. One has nothing to do with another.
ReplyDeleteThanks, his name escaped me when I was writing my post. I couldn't agree more, so so so disturbing. The Crowley being Hell's new head honch story line was cool, but I would have loved to seen what they could have done with an Alastair vs Crowley for control of the pit arc.
ReplyDeleteWell said Dahne :)
ReplyDeleteOh that would have been a battle to witness - shame it can't happen :(
ReplyDeleteIt was not a reference to obsessed fans at all honestly LOL. I work part-time with 2 girls who literally told me they were happy for that reason. So it happens. I really don't care if an actor is with a co-worker or not as long as it does not affect the series. Kudos to them for finding one another! Plus on top of that it was a joke and not a poke at "obsessed" fans I already said I envy at times. So get over it. LOL
ReplyDeleteIn addition I know more than a few men who loathe Ryan Reynolds for "stealing" Scarlet Johansson from them (as if they ever had a chance at even meeting her). Plenty of reasons to not like Ryan, but that is not a legit one to me.
ReplyDeleteI know you're right - there are a few sad people out there who do hate GC for 'stealing' JP. But I don't think too many of them hang out at Spoiler - at least I haven't noticed anyone like that.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I spend so much time here is that, despite being super-protective of our show, we (mostly) have a reasonably mature outlook. Some of us are refugees from the true 'fansites' who come here to find a bit of peace in which to discuss SPN.
So we get defensive when we perceive a slur or gibe, whether intentional or not. We take our show seriously, but are generally able to poke a bit of fun at ourselves, but it gets exhausting trying to explain/defend/whatever our position.
I can see why all this might amuse you - you've stated on other pages you don't feel passionate about a tv show, yet you obviously know the right buttons to push to get a response from those who do.
You're as entitled to your opinion as everyone else here - I just wanted to point out how it is for me.
I had to go with Azazel. He might have only lived for two seasons, and shown up for a handful of episodes of those seasons, but in my mind he is and always will be the original big bad in Supernatural. (Lucifer didn't want to kill Sam and was willing to let Dean live not to mention the whole sympathy for the devil thing the show had going, so Yellow Eyes wins in bad-assery). It was just so...satisfying (and awesome) how his death scene played out. And I got to relive that good feeling in season 4 when time-traveling!Dean told Azazel with pure knowing determination that he'd be the one to put the son-of-a-b*tch down for good. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit sad that you only got one vote - number 2 goes to Ruby for sure. I don't think it's actually possible to not enjoy that scene: the boys working together, Dean being a badass, Ruby dying......it's like every spn's favourite things combined in one glorious scene....
The key to what you said (to which I agree completely) is "perceived". If some one read what I posted without being defensive, they would either glanced at it and disagreed or realized... 'yup, some sad people do that'. As you just admitted. There was no mentioning of anything like "that is the norm in the SPN community" or "I am sure that more think it than admit it" . Which would have been both derogatory and not what I personally think. I heard two girls whining weeks ago (again not mean as an insult) because they had to work on Friday and miss Supernatural. I mentioned this site during down time and the polls and QOD and finding it fun etc. That was when it came up and it struck me as funny. I honestly do not even find it obsessive... just over-protective and a little possessive.... but mostly just funny!
ReplyDeleteActually I do not push buttons (purposely) , but I have purposely NOT posted things I was thinking may be provocative... and been taken as insults. If people have spots they are hypersensitive about it is less my issue and more theirs. There is a huge difference between begin critical and begin insulting to me. One is neutral and one is negative. I get that some feel attacked on here and sometimes rightfully so from what I have seen. But when I am not attacking I should not need to go out of my way to mollify those that look for attackers. I have both "defended" and "attacked" Supernatural actors or the series as a whole depending on the comment I was replying to... I am hardly a hater of the show. One feeling attacked does not mean they were attacked. Thank you for your point of view and hopefully you can see mine.
I feel the same way about Azazel! He seems to be both the reason the Winchesters are so involved in hunting as a family and why Sam has demon issues. They hint at bloodlines going back to Cane and Abel and there is more to it, but I always go back to Yellow Eyes as the origin of it all.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to take the train to Funky Town on this one. :-P
ReplyDeleteAwesome thought! That's would have been epic.
ReplyDeleteOh Easy......RUBY.......RUBY....RUBY!!!
ReplyDeleteThe acting was so bad....that i was praying for KATIE to come back.......It was seriously torturous to watch her on the screen :(((
Even though i felt bad for Sammy in season 4.....to be bluntly honest...she temporarily destroys his character.....At times i was hoping Dean and Cas would start roadtripping in the IMPALA.......Yeah....i know......BLASPHEMY!!!!
When she dies......WOW....the relief/joy was EPIC!!!
Extra win for Being GUTTED with her own knife, and the boys turning it into a BONDING exercise <333
'the boys working together, Dean being a badass, Ruby dying......it's like every spn's favourite things combined in one glorious scene....'
ReplyDeleteLOL....the drinks are on me M_I
<333
Yeah i agree....I LOVED TO HATE THEM........but i got something out of watching them on screen.....and the actors were excellent !!!!!
ReplyDeleteThats why i didn't pick these.....but Ruby....all i got from her was a migraine, and the urge to strangle Sammy :))
But Sam DID <33
ReplyDeletePROTECTIVE SAMMY for the WIN!!!!
Even if he was hopped up on demon blood....and i kinda wanted to kill him in that season :))
Thats kinda weird and creepy......their private lives are just that.....PRIVATE!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're not all MARK CHAPMAN'S!!!!!
Yeah...but...cmon.....they had to be kinda joking around......No...in that case....back away slowly !!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly.. .did NOT stick around to ask if they were joking!! I politely exited the area with a laugh and immediately pretended I was needed elsewhere. :)
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for Katie to come back as soon as Gen showed up... is that bad?
ReplyDeleteCan it really be blaspheme if you are on an angel's side? At least specifically on Castiel's side......
The poetic justice of her own knife was awesome. It was such a relief too since everyone and their blind/deaf grandmother knew she was playing Sammy most of the season... well, except Sam I guess.
Oh yeah, that would definitely have been epic!!! But I think Alastair would put Crowley in line pretty easily. He was the master of torture while originally Crowley was just a crossroads demon.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Mrs Padalecki indeed, but it had nothing to do with her dating Jared. I just didn't like the actress and the way she portrayed Ruby. She changed the character completely. Ruby in season 3 I liked and I don't know if I would have been cheering for her death this much if she had been portayed by Cassidy in season 4 too.
ReplyDeleteYeah but it was a desperate situation ya see....I HATED the character Period.....So KATIE was a desperate thought.
ReplyDeleteMHO - The character was awful, and not needed.....Sam could of straddled the dark side all on his own....He's that kind of guy LOL
The fact that she used DEAN to manipulate him, and Then when DEAN wasn't around anymore....DEMON BLOOD.....Cmon how obvious can someone be.......Sam's supposed to be smart....But i'll give him some credit, cause he wasn't firing on all cylinders during season 3/4.
*blaming Dean's Selfish Love*
But....yeah.....knew she was playing him from the get go.....and her and Bela were the Bane of supernatural.....Bela made the guys's look like MORONS most of the time.....Bad writing and pressure from the CW.
NO THANKS CW.....Don't need more SUPERFICIAL W**K.....GOD YOU'RE AWFUL AND SHALLOW.....Your only redeeming quality is SUPERNATURAL which is WAY too good for you......Yeah i know.....Never gonna read it....but i feel good <33
I think I actually lol'd irl when Christian kicked it the in Family Matters [even if he didn't 'technically' actually die then]
ReplyDeleteHi....i respect your opinion but i gotta disagree with you about Sam being 'unlikable, irredeemable'
ReplyDeleteMHO - As long as Sam stays sam.....He'll never be this.
In Season 4..... he was manipulated like hell.....Ruby used Dean during Season 3 to try to turn Sam....It didn't work cause Dean is Sam's MORAL COMPASS...then he Died and Sam SPIRALED.....so she got him hooked on demon blood to control him....He was a junkie who thought he was doing the right thing, but ultimately had the biggest CON played on him.....Theres no way he would of been thinking straight during all that.
In Season 5 He hated himself, and was so angry that all this had happened.....He had so much guilt/remorse for what he did.....He SACRIFICED himself to put things right.....He's a total Fallable HERO in my eyes.
Season 6.....It's not his FAULT he's got NO SOUL....Sam would never use Dean, and act like the way he's been acting.
His Self rightousness/stubborness/control isues get in the way but he always has GOOD INTENTIONS. I can see why you'd be angry with him.....i was pissed at him but only temporarily....He's a good guy.
I'm not trying to change your mind and i respect your opinion....but i'm curious why you feel this way?
<333
I agree with you both. I do not think Sam has ever been irredeemable, but through part of season 4 he was definitely unlikeable. He was a junkie and while you may feel for junkies, it is still very hard to like them. I completely disliked both Sam and Ruby for a time. Well, Ruby I disliked from day one. However, I was fine with season 5 Sam and I really like RoboSam so my disgust with the character did not last long.
