His journey takes him west to ‘Hell on Wheels,’ a dangerous, raucous, lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, an engineering feat unprecedented for its time. The series examines the railroad's institutionalized greed and corruption, the immigrant experience, and the plight of the newly emancipated African-Americans during reconstruction. Epic, The Killing and Hell on Wheels in 2011? Another great year for AMC.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, what a great network!
ReplyDeleteColm Meany alone is reason enough for me to tune in. As a hardcore Star Trek fan in my youth I loved him as Chief O'Brien, but he's been pretty good in every other role I've seen him play.
ReplyDeleteSomething more to look forward to from AMC!! THANK GOD there is a new series that takes place in an era that is not our own. I personally find so many of today's series repetitive and one single change like the time it takes place can change the entire dynamic of a series. It can make it unique and unlike anything else on TV. Not sure I have ever seen a Civil War or post-Civil War era series... miniseries maybe.
ReplyDeleteHe is good in most everything I have seen him in.... regardless of whether it's as a character role or a lead actor.
ReplyDeleteOMFG...Everything they touch is GOLD. :)
ReplyDeleteMad Men, Breaking Bad, Rubicon (RIP!), the Walking Dead, The Killing, and now Hell on Wheels?
I really hate that I don't get AMC :(
does anyone know when this is supossed to premiere? 2011?
ReplyDeleteI think Fall 2011
ReplyDeleteThe promo we got to see last week promised a premiere in 2011.
ReplyDeleteProduction will start next week, shooting apparently started in March. a premiere date in October sounds realistic, so AMC might pair it with The Walking Dead.
That would be cool :)
ReplyDeleteYep, I've seen some call sheets which indicate full production next week.
Hopefully we'll get some set photos and reports to share :)
According to AMC production will start on May 16th, but I also remember reading something about shooting in March, but I suppose it'll start next week. So a premiere date in fall would be likely.
