Do you think this will effect the show? I guess you don't have to be a genius to know that it can't be very good for the atmosphere... Debra is probably going to swear a lot more at Dexter now. :P

After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are getting a divorce. A joint exclusive statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.

    Doubt it will affect the show, but to be honest, I've never really understood that pairing. I honestly thought both actors were gay.

    In interviews I've seen in which they talk about their marriage they both came across very professional; and even then I remember thinking to myself "At least if it doesn't work out they seem like they'd still be able to work together."

    So they go from brother/husband and sister/wife to brother/ex-husband to sister/ex-wife.... its only 2 letters of difference. When you already are emotionally invested in playing siblings and yet can start an off-screen romance that is strong enough to get married and somehow not let it bleed into the characters , I would think they are professional and strong enough to not have it affect the dynamic on the on-screen characters after a divorce.

    If being separated "for some time" didn't noticeably affect this season, then hopefully it won't noticeably affect next season either.
