Being Erica- season 4 if picked up will be the final season and answer everything
20 Dec 2010
Cancelled ShowsThe original version of the show is still awaiting its fourth-season pickup on home network CBC, though exec producer Aaron Martin promises the season, if it happens, will answer “every question” about Erica’s therapy and her time travel — “no Lost mystery, no Inception spinning-top teasing.” The theme of the final season will be, he says, “coming full circle, fulfilling your purpose, and finding joy.

This makes me kind of happy, in that the show would go out on its own terms; however, I'm worried about the reasons behind the decision. Sure, the ratings are low, but I'll be supremely annoyed if this has anything to do with the potential American reboot.
ReplyDeletei doubt the remakes had anything to do with the decision. SOAPNET shutting down January 2012 probably had more influence as well as the low ratings, personally hope it gets picked up and curious to see the US and UK remakes if they actually get made. i just confirmed with the UK producers that Being Erica :UK AKA You Again is still "in early stages of development"
ReplyDeleteOh, right, SOAPNET. Fair Enough/Good Point.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I am definitely excited to see the UK version. It's the (potential) existence of the American Version that bothers me. Is American Culture really so different from ours that people couldn't handle watching a show set in Toronto? *sighs*
well Being Erica was already airing on SOAPNET in the US too so many people already saw it there. ABC probably wants more independence / control over the storylines , probably more episodes and they will probably make alot of changes too. hopefully they will learn from the original and S3 avoid mistakes like Adam though they're recent "remake" Scoundrels was supposedly very similar to the original. the ABC show should also have a significantly bigger budget than the original + UK version.
ReplyDeletePersonally, being from the US, I don't think a remake will do any justice to the original. The setting, the culture the everything of Toronto makes Being Erica work. I will not watch the US version because the cast I love won't be in it.
ReplyDeleteWell.... Being an American myself, it bothers me... You guys have a great thing going and I dont understand why we have to come in and put our own spin on it... I have been addicted to this show since I first layed eyes on it (on Soapnet.. lol) - so much that I was deteremined to find ways to watch this last season online (since it doesnt come out in the states till basically now). I will be very upset if it doesn't get renewed..
