DOUGRAY Scott is to play legendary football boss Sir Matt Busby in a new docudrama.

The film, United, focuses on Bellshill-born Sir Matt's doomed Busby Babes.
In 1956, they were the youngest team ever to win the English league.

But eight of them were among 23 people killed in the Munich air disaster in 1958.
The team were returning from a European Cup match against Red Star Belgrade when tragedy struck.

Scott, 44, will be joined in the film by former Doctor Who David Tennant, who plays assistant manager Jimmy Murphy.

Former Skins star Jack O'Connell plays Bobby Charlton and Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Sam Claflin is cast as teammate Duncan Edwards, who was killed at only 21.

The film's executive producer Simon Heath describes it as "an authentic and moving version of this heartbreaking story which we hope will be a fitting tribute to those who survived and those who lost their lives at Munich".

United begins shooting within weeks and will be broadcast next year.
