Her plotline was deleted from season 1 due to concerns that it was too early to introduce other creatures. Melinda Clarke is currently co-starring on Nikita but it would be easy for the CW to arrange the schedules (and have her skip a few Nikita episodes) for a return on the Vampire Diaries.
Succubus' have been done on TV recently on the Canadian series "Lost Girl" which centers on a Succubus and also on ABC's cancelled The Gates.

I watched the deleted scene not long ago and was thinking "WTF IS GOING ON!?!" I think it'd be a pretty awesome storyline though. But then, if she's a succubus, what is Matt?
ReplyDeleteNah, that plotline's not needed this season. There's way too much other, more prominent, stuff going on right now, like the werewolf subplot, the Klaus subplot, the Delena vs Stelena subplot, the Caroline/Tyler bonding subplot, the Bonnie/Jeremy bonding subplot... and on and on and on. I feel like they need to get rid of one of the storylines at least before they tackle introducing yet another mystical creature into the mytharc.
ReplyDeleteI like Melinda CLarke so I would not mind her coming "back" on at some point, but with hte wolvepupstoryline, the new vamp Caroline plot, Katherine's past, the originals (truly a TERRIBLE name or moniker!!) and then the continuing love triangle story.... they certainly do not need anything new right this minute in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteOnto the Originals.... sriously? Couldn't we have the First(ok maybe too Buffy?) or The The Prime, Primary or Primaries? I prefer the Origin to the originals. The Alphas or the Archetypes? The Originals is so... blah!

ReplyDeleteIf there are only succubi then only female line of his family would be "affected". Meaning that he himself is normal, but if he had a daughter, or if his theoretical son had a daughter....
If there are both then matt should be incubus.
She should come back just for the simple fact that Matt has almost no storyline right now.

ReplyDeleteI remember the first part of that clip but I had no idea about the succubus part. But they shouldn't bring her back right now. Another season maybe.

ReplyDeleteSounds really cool, and Melinda Clarke is a brilliant actress, particularly at all those seductress with an agenda roles. totally kick ass. But not right now, because then the plot will just be thrown with this side-story, what with the Katherine/Katerina and the curse on the vampires/werewolves plot going.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if she was a succubus, I don't get it, was Vicki one? or was she one of those Cambions? Because Vicki was rather promiscuous, and there should've been guys dropping dead all around town. And i didn't know that succbi could be turned into vamps (if Vicki was indeed a succubus). And that of course also raises questions about Matt and his relationship with Elena and Caroline.
i think Matt and Vicki were just human i guess the Succubus isn't genetic/ a dominant gene or maybe it needs some activaction like the werewolf curse?

At the very least wouldn't they be Cambions though? half-human half-succubus/incubus? But then again. TVD could also just put their own spin on traditional folklore, you raise a very good point with the activation thing...
ReplyDeleteHe is, and I'm really glad that TVD is just letting him skip episodes the way Caroline, Bonnie, Jeremy, Jenna, Alaric and Tyler used to skip episodes instead of giving them terrible filler scenes that noone really cares for.
Yeah, I guess I can't argue with that.
