You know, I've always hoped that Jane would gain back at least a small measurement of the character that he lost during season two. I mean, in season one he had that dark anger to him, that even hidden behind that mask of pleasantry still showed through. It just all meshed; there was something there that has since been lost in this self parody of what Jane used to be, the one that's existing currently in this show. Even in his most eccentric moments during season one he always retained that dignity, that suaveness. That's gone for some reason; now he's just a bumbling, idiotic clown of a character that makes it difficult for me to tune in every week. Jane is now just too ridiculous to be taken seriously to me. And this show is just too afraid to get gritty most of the time. I realize that it's more of a lighthearted show, but season one balanced the heavier parts with the lighthearted ones nicely. Why did they lose this? I expect that he'll just bumble through this new episode, acting like an idiot, whimpering and cowering until help comes, barely even tortured (because the show will be too afraid to make it real torture, because god forbid it's serious for more than five minutes) before he's crying uncle. His mother/caretaker, Lisbon, (because that chemistry that was once there in season one is reduced to simply a mother/sister-like vibe and there it'll most likely remain if Simon Baker has anything to do with it) will save his ass and the episode will end on a fluffy, light note. Oh well. I guess it'll never go back to way it used to be, eh? I guess I'm also in the minority and the lovers of this show prefer it the way it is now.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
