CSI: NY (CBS), Blue Bloods (CBS)

-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats):
School Pride (NBC), Medium (CBS), The Good Guys (Fox), 20/20 (ABC)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remains the network to beat on troubled Friday, but just 8.66 million viewers and a 1.5 rating/5 share, on average, is nothing to boast about. In a rare occurrence, The CW finished second overall among adults 18-49, with last-place Fox dipping to embarrassing lows.

In series-premiere news, non-scripted School Pride was DOA on NBC, with just 2.90 million viewers (#4) and a 0.9 rating/3 share among adults 18-49 (#4) at 8 p.m. One year earlier, former occupant Law & Order averaged 7.73 million viewers and a 1.6/ 6 in the demo on Oct. 16, 2009. Considering most new shows drop in the vicinity of 10 to 20 percent in week two, tick, tock…the cancellation clock is already ticking.

School Pride led into a two-hour edition of Dateline at 4.93 million viewers (#2) and a 1.2/ 4 (#2t) among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:

Dateline (NBC)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.29 million (#2), A18-49: 1.1/ 4 (#2)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.01 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#2)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.13 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#2)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.30 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#2t)

Over at dominant CBS, 8 p.m. anchor Medium remains a stumbling block despite winning the 8 p.m. hour in total viewers (6.14 million) and finishing second among adults 18-49 (1.2/ 4). One year earlier, former occupant Ghost Whisperer was considerably stronger at 8.05 million viewers and a 2.0/ 7 in the demo on Oct. 16, 2009. Sometimes even the time period winner is a “loser.”

Medium led into relocated CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 9.54 million; A18-49: #1, 1.7/ 6 at 9 p.m.), which has lost considerable steam since moving from the Wednesday 10 p.m. hour, followed by week four of Blue Bloods at a dominant 10.29 million viewers and a 1.7/ 6 among adults 18-49. Despite the older skews, CSI: NY and Blue Bloods have to be considered “winners” on this low HUT level evening. At this point, Blue Bloods is indeed the real deal.

Elsewhere, ABC opened the evening with a repeat of No Ordinary Family (Viewers: #2, 4.11 million; A18-49: #2, 1.0/ 4 at 8 p.m.), followed by two episodes of 20/20 as follows:

20/20 (ABC)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 3.86 million (#3), A18-49: 1.1/ 4 (#3)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.69 million (#3), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#2t)

The CW aired its consistent combination of Smallville (Viewers: #3, 3.18 million; A18-49: #1, 1.3/ 5) and Supernatural (Viewers: #4, 2.80 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.2/ 4), which were both above average. And Fox closed the night with a repeat of House (Viewers: #5, 2.67 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 3) and an original installment of waiting-to-be axed The Good Guys (Viewers: #5, 2.33 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 3).

  2. Wohoo! Supernatural's ratings are so much better this week! :D

  3. I think it might have something to do with it being #200 but I'd like to think more people are starting to come back for the final season.

  4. Well the episode definitely deserved it. =D

  5. Yeah, this week's episode was awesome but sometimes quality doesn't have anything to do with the ratings otherwise Route 666 wouldn't be Supernatural's highest rated episode. ;D

  6. Supernatural did awesome this week!! Hopefully it keeps up this way or goes even higher! :D

  7. WOW! Smallville good job, Sad they didnt all stick around for Supernatural!
Hope we get some vampire fans for next week ahhaha. What ever it takes to get new people to watch the show and men does it look good. I'm so happy with those numbers !

  8. Route 666 was only rated that high because all the other US network channels were showing the presidential address. The WB was the only one showing a TV show. Unfortunately Route 666 was the episode they went with. I can't help but think that if they had shown Faith or even Nightmare, Supernatural might have had a whole lot more viewers the following week. Such a wasted opportunity.

  9. Glad that it was so high but in all fairness, it is likely that Smallville's 200th episode had a lot to do with it. Hopefully those 2.8 million were impressed by how awesome yesterday's episode was and will continue to watch next week, whether or not they watch Smallville.

  11. Oh I'm glad with SPN numbers for this week, but I prefer the other table, is more easy to understand and compare the numbers with others Networks and show's

  12. I am thinking at the time when they made plans for the episode order, they weren't thinking hmmm I wonder if the president of the US is going to speaking that night, so we will do this episode there.

  13. I don't think that Dahne said in that way, it's more like the truth, CW don't put route 666 because they know that night president is going to speak, what Dahne explain is why this epi have a lot of viewers, and again it's a shame that was this episode and not other, because probably now SPN should have more viewers than have now, people prefers show's from others Networks just 'cause are big networks, however with other episode others viewers have another impression of the show

  15. Both Smallville and Supernatural were awesome last night. I wish Supernatural kept all 3.2 mill of the SV viewers lol. I can't actually believe that the 200th episode brought on that many viewers--even though I knew it was the 200th and was supposed to be really good, I never saw the advertisement for the 200th episode, so that's kinda surprising. CW beat the hell out of FOX this week too. SV beat Medium on CBS in the ratings (one of my fave shows btw) with less than half the viewers, and SPN killed The Good Guys on FOX both in numbers and ratings. :)

  16. Every time I go and look that up on wikipedia, I go into a fit about that. Such a missed opportunity. :(

  17. In season 1 the order of the episodes didn't matter so much because it was more of a standalone driven season. I can't think of anything in Faith or Route 666 that would make it impossible for the WB to have changed the order. I think if they were looking even one month ahead they could have held Faith for a week and put Route 666 on earlier. This would have left a far superior episode in the position to be watched by more people. I had just convinced a couple people to watch Supernatural and since there was nothing else on, they chose that episode. Urgh! Needless to say they did not share my passion for SPN. I don't know if they ever saw another episode because I switched jobs later.

  18. I actually think that Route 666 was a better episode than Faith, although it wasn't great. But neither of those were the first episode I saw, and if they had of been I might not have continued watching.

  19. That's funny because Faith is one of my favorite episodes of all time whereas Route 666 is only behind Bugs in my least favorite list. What I liked about Faith was that it gave us some classic one-liners (Snuggle bear and daytime TV) but it was mostly a character reversal in which Sam has to take care of Dean for the first time. I loved Roy and Lila too. Plus, now reapers are old news, but at the time, that was the scariest thing they had taken on. I wish we had a comment section to discuss older episodes with everyone. I'd like to here other people's takes on some of my favorite older episodes like WIAWSNB, Devil's Trap, and Provenance.

  20. If you ask for almost all the fans of SPN, they're agree that Route 666 is one of they less favourite epis, and Faith one of the best of season 1...not all, but some people like to see Dean in a hot scene with a girl and funny scenes, but others fans love to see brotherhood scenes like in Faith, and most of us what we LOVED about the show is the brothers relationship

  21. I'd love that! Hey guys - how about it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh... Well, if they didn't see that Supernatural was awesome then they're idiots :P It'll be sad when Smallville ends, Supernatural and Smallville go great together. Hopefully, next week does well too, even if it's not as good as this.

  23. That's an interesting opinion. Usually fans hate Route 666.
