Still don't like the Campbells, but a little disappointed that the stupid shifter blanked the quiet one. (What was his name again? Not the asshat with the smart-ass comments about Dean being in hell, the other one. The less ass-hat-y one. By the way, Gwen can go screw herself with a power drill.) No trust to be had with the Campbell family otherwise. Really amused that Sam compared Dean and Gramps as the same, though.
Fave moment? Hands down, cute Daddy!Dean humming SMOKE ON THE WATER to the monster baby :) Others included Dean threatening to stab the old lady/shifter in the neck if she/he didn't give the baby back to him. Not to mention the look on Sam's face when they realized that the problem w/ the baby just might be a need for a diaper change.
Fave quotes (amusingly enough, almost all are Dean's. Guess which one's, as if you didn't know).
"What the hell are we gonna do with it? We can't actually drop it off at an orphanage. They might get UPSET when it turns Asian."
"[putting finger with alcohol in baby's mouth] 'S good, isn't it?" (I facepalmed myself after that one. LOL.)
"Either we got monsters grabbing babies to make baby stew or we got a bunch of psychotic yokels grabbing babies to make baby stew. Either way, it’s baby stew, which is bad."
“Dean, no offense, but if you don’t walk out that door, I’m gonna shoot you.”
"Okay, if I put you down, are you gonna be a man about it?"
"Welcome to the party, Guettenberg."
"Sometimes I wonder about you, Sam." "Sometimes I wonder about me, too."
Now... is it just me as a woman, or does the idea of Bad Ass Daddy Dean make you sorta quake with hormones?
Nah. I don't think there is a 6th year to the mytharc. The old mytharc is basically done. Still, it would not surprise me if the monster changes are tied to the Apocalypse. I could definitely see Crowley anticipating the end of the Apocalypse and starting to make some plans of his own. I see him hedging his bets and pursuing options on both sides. If one of those options ties into why he wanted Bobby's soul, it isn't so much a continuation of the old myth as taking advantage of the old situation.
You're right of course. Just because Sam didn't say 'Well I didn't tell them', we shouldn't assume he did. Ok Sammy, sorry I was thinking mean things about you. And the Campbells might not be the bad guys after all. Which would be great for Sam and Dean. But even if they can be trusted, it will take a major turnaround for me to stop wanting the Campbells dead. None of them are even slightly likeable characters, so they are going to have to prove themselves worthy before I feel ok about them.
Just cuz Grandpa Creepy says he was dragged down does not mean he actually was. I prefer not to believe anything he says at this point. I want him working with Crowley for two reasons. I like when Crowley is pure evil, just looking out for himself. He's a brainier demon than most we've seen and he is definitely cunning. I like the idea that he is masterminding some random evil plot. The second reason is pure selfishness. He would have to stick around awhile longer if he was tied to the monster plot. There really is no reason for him to still be working with or against the boys if he isn't part of the mytharc. Plus it would mean that he had an ulterior motive for taking Bobby's soul so it would tie into the big mytharc from the last 5 years.
There is no proof that Sam was the one to tell the Campbell's about Dean's hell experience. After all hunters were able to find out that Sam broke the last seal and I doubt Dean, Bobby or the angels told those hunters?!
Also since the Campbell's are so obviously being shown to be the untrustworthy ones and this season carries the tag-line 'everything is not as it seems' I'm inclined to believe that the Campbell's aren't actually the bad guys here. The only reason they're being shown to be untrustworthy/shady is because the show is shown from Dean's point of view and Dean has trust issues. If Dean doesn't trust someone ie Sam then the viewers don't either. Also Sera Gamble mentioned something about Sam and Dean having to learn to trust other people this season.
The Sam infiltrating the enemy (the Campbell's in this case) is something some of us are discussing over on the CW message boards. Its an intriguing idea, one that would work and would mean that we dont have a repeat of season 4 with Sam being duped/trusting the wrong people.
Interesting idea, but I'm hoping not. I mean can Dean trust nobody? If Cas brought Sam back and they are working together, I can't believe Cas, Bobby and Sam are in cahoots and keeping Dean completely out of the loop. After everything they went thru, Dean is basically the one they all turned to for answers, so to leave him out would be completely wrong. I don't buy Sam's reasoning, Bobby's even less, but Cas, too? If this were true and I were Dean, I'd wash my hands of the whole lot of them, so I hope it's not true.
I haven't liked any of the girls that Dean has been paired with, especially Cassie. (I think the actress was too wooden.) The only one who was tolerable was the girl from Monster Movie and only because she told the shapeshifter off. That's what I love about Lisa. She's the only woman Dean has been with. She knows who she is and isn't afraid to say what's on her mind while still letting Dean know she has his back.
Edited to add that Carmen from the djinn dream world was awesome also! However, since she was no more than a magazine beer ad I don't include her in the people Dean's been with category. In fact, Lisa is an awful lot like Carmen now that I think about it.
Great monster summit - ha ha! And yeah, bring on Smart Sam. I'm kinda hoping he knows Grandpa's up to no good and he's working on the inside to stop him. That would be cool.
Not to mention, it would leave Grandpa Creepy without his army. I think everyone would get suspicious if a bunch of random cousins showed up the next day to take their places. Or if he suddenly found a new batch of hunters to take up his cause.
Ooooo I like this. I would so enjoy watching Crowley ordering Grandpa around. He totally deserves everything he gets - he's just nasty! And Crowley is awesome (for a demon). I do hope he gives Bobby back his soul soon though.
I prefer to think of it as Crowley is the one who got Grandpa out of hell. By doing so Grandpa has a big IOU tied around his neck which makes him Crowley's minion. It's not that he wants to be working with Crowley, but that Crowley is literally his boss from hell. If Gramps doesn't perform, Crowley has something truly nasty waiting for him. After all, Crowley is the King of the Crossroad.
Or at least that is how I like to think of this theory. Of course, it's SPN so none of this is even close.
No kidding. It was like they were stepping over his body to get to more important things. No shed tears, not even an "Oh gee, that's too bad." No wonder Mary wanted out of the hunter life. You get no sympathy there, even when you die.
Ooo, new theory. What if they didn't respond because Mark is also a monster and so they know that he is not really dead? Maybe they are all monsters and they are following orders from their alpha to gather all the other monsters for a great monster summit.....Nah, I refuse to believe that Sam falls for yet another monster that makes him do their bidding for evil. That would be redundant. I want Smart Sam back.
Great ep! I think this reboot is really something different and great. These characters are going to surprise us all season. I'm really wondering what is up with Gpa Creepy and the CSKs? They all have these little looks between each other and I see Sam doing it too. Is he a part of whatever they've got cooking? He seems a little too cozy, ya know? It was good to see him tell Christian to back off, but seriously, why was he talking about what happened to Dean in Hell with these people when he won't even talk about his own experience? Seems rather hypocritical to me. Is there something he doesn't want Dean to know?
I know they were trying to draw parallels between John's raising of them and Dean's behavior with Ben and then with not wanting to have Christian raise the baby, but that part kind of fell flat for me. And Sam's crack about "why? Because he's a hunter?" was completely out of line, and Dean's reaction was perfect. Maybe, Sam, it was simply because the guy's a douche.
I like Lisa even more now. She's independent and cares enough about Dean to help him when he needs her and let him go when he needs it. That is one understanding woman -- and just what Dean needs. Someone who actually trusts him and won't make him feel obligated while still letting him know he's needed. How cool is that? Maybe a hunter can have it all.
Glad to see a little more humor in the ep. Buying the baby stuff was a riot and seeing Dean with a baby -- being a natural while still having no clue was priceless. I can't wait to see the band back together next week and I'm especially happy to see the Impala un-tarped. Welcome back, Baby!
In the last scene with the Impala I actually started screaming and crying of happiness XD Now all that's left is Dean's leather jacket <3 LOVED the ep :D
I agree, I too am miffed at why none of them seemed to care about the cousin dying, especially when they claim to be a tight knit family of hunters. I thought maybe it was to show that actually that's the opposite of what they are - I thought it would have helped to emphasise that if Dean said something about Mark being murdered. Bah.
Balthazar is due next episode I think... And from the spoilers I've read it seems like he could be up to something nefarious. So Grandpa Creepy and Balthazar could be working together, but I think it's difficult to conjure up a theory yet.
I don't want him to be working with Crowley; I can't imagine them working together, either.
Is it possible that Grandpa Creepy is working for the angels - rounding up the alphas to send all the monsters packing? He did say he was dragged DOWN the same time Sammy was dragged up, so he was obviously upstairs. I really don't want to believe he's doing anything good, because I just want to keep hating him, but maybe we're supposed to think he's the bad guy? So he could have been talking to Cas - although why he'd need a phone if Cas has his nerd-angel mojo back I don't know. Or maybe Cas' angel friend Balthazar is responsible? Does't he show up in ep 3? Or maybe Gpa is bad and was talking to Crowley? Or some other random demon? Just so long as it's not John. I really don't want John Winchester back - sorry but I don't. There's lots of theories floating around out there. Anyone else got one?
Just watched it again. The three people might have been Mark and the two guards who were at the gate when Sam, Dean and Bobby John arrived. Having all three cousins removed so easily in one episode would destroy the satisfaction of watching Gwen and Christian die, slowly and painfully, at different points later in the season.
Hope you're right, it is kind of obvious - but good or bad I just don't like him. He gives me the creeps. And see that's exactly what got Sam into trouble before with Ruby - the wrong thing for the right reasons.
I'm not sure if Sam's apart of it or if he's being manipulated by Grandpa.
Also, adding to the theory that Sam has been altered in someway, in the premier he did make it clear that he doesn't care about the "trivial" things anymore. When he knows someone can't be saved, he won't try... whereas, he used to.
Also, Grandpa did say last episode "get her in the van before the boys get back" (or something to that effect). So if Sam was apart of it, wouldn't he have said "get her in the van before Dean gets back." Or maybe the phrasing is just ambiguous enough to cater to everything.
I have a feeling the whole "creepy" Grandpa thing isn't as it seems and that, later on, it'll be revealed he's someone who does bad things to make good things happen. Or something like that. It just seems to obvious for Grandpa to actually be evil.
I thought this episode was definitely an improvement from last week. The premiere struggled to really get going, with so much being introduced, but this episode balanced things out quite nicely. It had action, humour, and a solid monster-plot.
While I loved most of it, though, I have to say I'm miffed at the ending. One of the cousins dies and nobody gives a crap? Like, not even a little hint that anybody actually cared about this guy. I thought the writing there was a little lazy. Not only did they not make us care about the cousin, they made us not care about the death and the repurcussions.
And when Samuel was on the phone, what did he mean by "he lost three of his people?" I thought (prayed?) maybe all the cousins had been killed off screen. We didn't actually see them again. *Fingers crossed*
Ok there is something weird about Sam and the rest of his cousins and grandpa. In the episode Exile on main Street , at the end they did not kill the Jin so my question again is Sam really Sam ???????????? again in "Tow and a half men" Sam was wanting to use the baby as bait . Weird that is not a humane thing to do. The whole situation when Lisa say's "i want you to leave" break's my heart cause he want's it so much he love's them but he feel's torn. But she was mature about it and said were alway's here. One question how did the cousin know about Dean going to hell and why would Sam defend that asshole that . kept on making a remark . know that is not Sam i am 100% sure Sam was kind and many thing's Dean was not but he teched Dean , if it were not for Sam he would not be the man he is today .xxxxxx
HAHAA I Laughed at most things you said !!! I agree so much!!! Though some of the things you didnt like, i like BECAUSE i dont like.... if that makes sense
And I liked the mute guy, btw MARK and awesome actor. wish he would have died the last, gwen the first
You are the first person I have read that actually said they liked the actress who played Cassie in the Route 666. No one I know has ever liked her, including me.
I want to know why the shifter didn't kill all of them while he had the chance? And who is Grandpa Creepy talking to on the phone? I know he's supposed to be family but I really want him dead. Maybe Sammy will kill him when he realises he's just been using him.
I get what you're saying. It'll be like Zachariah - we just knew Dean was going to kill him eventually but they made us wait so long. Made it much more satisfying when it actually happened though. And as Chanelle says, they could kill Gwen (and Christian) several times and I would be very happy with that.
I love this episode ;) especially the end... The Impala is back and so is Dean! Have you seen his smirk^^ That alone made me want to cheer ;p I`m also very happy that one of the CSK`s (borrowing that short cut ) are down, sadly it wasn`t Christian... god what he said to Dean about hell... he has to go next!! That phone call from grandpa, want to know who he was talking to ?! But if it wasn`t clear enough last week, now there is no way that Samuel is up to something good!!! The moment between Dean and Sam in that grocery store was so cute, but when Dean asked Sam if he knew about the lore and the Alpha shifter and if they were using the baby as bait,I just couldn`t shake off the feeling that Sam wasn`t completly honest! Now I`m excited for next week and for Cas ;)
This episode was so amazing!! I am totally in love with it!!
Grandpa Samuel is seriously giving me the creeps. Especially with the phone call... who do you guys think it was?
Sam is freaking the hell out of me. He's just so cold and I really hoping he opens up a bit about his time in the cage.
I'm so happy that Mark was killed off. Too bad it wasn't Gwen but I'll take what I get. Only her and Christian left to go, and Gramps but I'm hoping he'll be around a bit. Not that I like him, I just think he is really interesting. Right now, I can't decide who I hate more, Christian for the hell comment or Gwen for being a bitch. Somehow, she made me hate her even more even though she had ONE line in the whole episode. I hope when they decide to kill her off, she has a very very slow, painful death.
Lisa is so damn awesome. Especially the bit where she told Dean to get out of the house or she will shoot him. It's great to see a female character who stands up to Dean but isn't evil (Ruby) or a total bitch (Gwen, Bela). It was mean of Dean to pull a John on Ben though. I hope he apologized later or something.
The grocery stall was so hilarious and I laughed my ass off when Dean gave the baby some of his booze.
The alpha thing was really cool, I only wish they could have killed it though. I had the hugest grin on my face when I saw the Impala again. How much I missed her..... Dean's face was so epic too :)
I'm hoping for long stretches of time where we don't see the CSK or Gramps. I say there should be a balance. We don't see more of them than we do of Lisa and Ben. And of course one of the CSK must die each time they show up.
I agree. It seems like the monster of the week theme is not really connecting yet. They are using classic SPN monsters but they are not having the same impact as those monsters had in previous episodes. I'm not sure if it is because they are spending so much time talking about how the monsters have changed that they don't seem familiar enough. Or if the story is still trying to find its feet with the characters and so the monster of the week feels like an afterthought each time. It's okay right now because there is so much more going on, but when the show settles into this new mytharc, the monsters are going to have to be...um, maybe "more" is the word. Don't really know how to put it into words.
Having only seen this episode once (and fighting sleep at that), I totally didn't connect that. That is awesome! It shows you where the brothers' heads are at this time. Dean seems to have totally written off John (and especially is trying not to be John) while Sam is embracing his earlier life. Just another example of how they have changed from the pilot.
HAHAHA yes the only good thing about the campell addition is if they die haha. im guessing 1 every 2 episodes. goes every eps would be weird ahhaah. BUT SO MUCH FUN! I kinda want gwen to die then come back to life so we can kill her again next week AW justice
hum.. true. It says so much on their way of thinking. and dean didnt want ben to want to be like him, like his father did. AW I LOVE IT! and i hate myself cause at first i didnt understand the JOHN ahaaha. only bobby oups
Impala ! Yeah baby! That scene was so awesome. The look on Dean's face - I nearly cried.
Didn't like Dean yelling at Ben although I totally get why. Lisa was awesome for not yelling at Dean for yelling at Ben. She's just all round amazing. She can stay. I have spoken!
Loved the baby shopping - I laughed out loud and freaked the cat out.
Sam seemed a bit more Sam-like - he even smiled a couple of times. Didn't like how he told the others about Dean's time in hell though. Really Sam - it's none of their business.
Alphas huh? Scary crap.
Mark bit it. Yay! Gwen didn't. Bummer! Still, there's always next week. Maybe they'll kill one cousin off each week and save Grandpa Creepy for later. As long as he gets it eventually.
And did I mention the Impala - 'the most important object in the universe' - she's back!
I loved every second of it! I like the fact that Lisa loves Dean enough to let him go to do what he does best-hunting and having a life once again with his brother. I knew from the first episode of this season that Grandpa could not be trusted and I now know for sure that he can't be, but who could he be talking to on the phone? I wonder just who he has ties to? The best part had to be the very end when Dean was uncovering the Impala. That smirk on his face was just priceless!
I liked it alot and thought it was like back on track. It's also good that Lisa and Dean are basically still going out just more like a long distance relationship. Sam is way evil though and so is Samuel i mean they used the baby as bait the old Sam would never do that . I think he is anyway just something of about him . I loved Dean with the baby it was so sweet and probably he enjoyed acting it as well cause Jensen/Dean has a baby cousin and loves it alot. Just really enjoyed it . Also do you notice that they are catching ever thing like the Jin then they wanted the king of shapeshifter's .
The thing I hated the most in this episode is that Sam obviously told the CSA about what Dean did in hell. That's not just out of character; it's downright nasty. Sam has been raised since birth to keep family matters within the family. Otherwise, they would have had the DFS on their butts everywhere they went. He knows the value of a secret, especially one which has absolutely no ramifications on the people he was telling it to. I guess they were trying to show that Sam now thinks of the CSA as his true family, but I cannot believe that a "normal" Sam would ever have told them such personal, non-case related things about his brother. I am not liking the way they are going with Sam right now. We've already spent 2 years of dealing with the aftermath of Sam trusting the wrong person. I refuse to think that he has not learned from that experience. I want a Sam that I can root for so I hope that this is all a clever plan. I hope Sam is infiltrating enemy territory to find out who Gramps' boss is. In fact, I hope he is on a mission from Cas because that's the only way I see Cas really fitting into this mytharc too. However, which ever way this goes, I do not want another manipulated Sammy. We've already spent too much time on that.
I'm liking the idea of Sam going undercover for Cas. If he is, he's doing a great job, because even Dean seems convinced Sam is cosy with the cousins and Grandpa. Especially after Sam told them about Dean in hell. Maybe he had to spill something big to bond with the 'family'? It doesn't excuse it but it would explain it. Maybe.
I liked it a lot funny and close to the old recipie. I don't like the Cambels but it's not just me and it's not that I can do anything about it, but I don't think the Hell refference they had Dean and Christian talk was necessary if you ask me. In overall nice at least they seem to have put the brothers hunting together again.
I actually think your theory on Cas bringing Sam back is a logical one. Could be why we haven't seen Cas yet... he doesn't want to rock the boat. It would also explain why Sam is so willing to trust Grandpa and the cousins, whereas Dean does nothing but (rightfully so), if Cas and him are infiltrating them.
And I agree. No more manipulated Sam. Character growth is imminent!
Yeah. Would have preferred to lose Gwen first. I think these might have be going over better if we got a chance to get to know them. Instead, we're begin *told* they're great people and we should like them because they're family. (And for a family that's was hunting on the Mayflower....If they were as good as this group....how on Earth did the family line survive? :-) Anyway, how are we supposed to believe all that or even give them a chance if we don't get to get to know them. Sam and Dean may not be themselves yet, but they've got each others backs. When I've met parts of my extended family for the first time...it has never been as cold and distant as these people were to Dean. No wonder he doesn't trust them. So, why should we.
- Lisa is awesome. - Sam is soooooo hiding something. Its jsut that I dont know on if he is just IN with whatever campbells hiding or if he has his own agenda. - Samuel's boss. interesting. - Alpha storyline. hm. Im betting Campbells are collecting alphas of all the monster species.
How cute were the babies? Especially the little one in the opener who got dragged under the bed was was having quite a bit of fun. And the other little guy who was laughing his head off at Dean.
I am liking Lisa more and more. From the moment Dean started talking about 'seeing her when he thought about having a normal life' I was grousing because she's not Dean's first love. In fact the only history they really had before he met Ben was a hot weekend. Admittedly, part of my reaction had to do with how much I like the actress who guest started in Route 666. But, I take it all back. (They finally seem to have found a female addition to the cast that doesn't seem to be greeted with fan-dislike.) I really hope that the powers that be don't intend to let her completely disappear from the canvas. Loved Sam's pointing out that in his quest to not be his father Dean was becoming his father.
There was just so much goodness. Lisa being Lisa, Ben wanting to be like his "dad", Sam and Dean working together, the grocery store chase, the scene where the baby shifted for the first time. I was wondering how that was gonna happen and was kind of afraid one of the brothers was gonna pick the baby up and pull away a chunk of skin or something. Loved that the kid didn't just *look* like a different kid....he was of a different race. The Alpha was kind of awesome.
I'm still on Dean's side with regard to his new extended family. I wasn't affected by the deaths during the fight because I just don't care about these people. They don't feel like family they feel like extras or, dare I say it, Red Shirts.
Monsterbaby was amazing; loved Dean's Asian comment as well because well, definitely a true sentiment. Sam defending Dean from the family made so much sense and it seemed so right. Dean was always so uncomfortable there, I'm just upset that Christian didn't die instead of Mark (that his name?). And the lore with the alpha. THE alpha? Oh, Ben and Sera, you are getting into the older deeper lore and I'm loving it. Such a nice depth to the whole shifter lore stuff. But Grampa is keeping me edgy, that phone call was suspicious.
But LISA IS AWESOME GIRLFRIEND x2!! Like really Dean, as long as you have wards everywhere and tell her to salt the doors every night, they'll be fine. But the Ben yelling made me sad. Dean should've called him back, it made me think of him pulling a John who yelled at Dean for not protecting Sammy from something minor. Still, Ben could take archery in school just to poke fun at Dean. Pretty sure Sam complained about bow-hunting or something like that season 1. But yesh, I approve of this episode and Cas' awesome return one next week. He needs great intro music =)
Up until that scene, I was so disgusted with the heresy that is riding around in Dean's random truck and Sam's stupid charger...
BUT notice this is the 2nd time the Impala has only been out of the picture for 2 episodes before it was back to normal? (It was like that too on season 2)
lol the one that never said anything was the one I didn't really have a problem with. Gwen is so *twitches* annoying. She's only had a couple one-liners, but I can't stand her. And Christian needs to be the next to die after his little go at Dean...
I loved the shapeshifter and I loved the baby, and I loved the twists, and I loved the opening scene--it was actually scary, while sometimes opening scenes on SPN in the last 2 years were just bloody and not that creepy. OH and Lisa=amazing. She's just so...real. lol and I love how she doesn't put up with Dean's crap.
My favorite character in this episode....Lisa. She is absolutely awesome! I'm glad that the writers made a conscious effort not to make Dean look like a complete schmuck who abandons his family. Still, glad Dean is back on the road before he smoothers poor Ben. I liked the episode and the baby changing was an interesting concept. I too like the alpha monster idea because that at least starts to explain all the weird monster action. Best part...seeing a shiny Metallicar underneath all that tarp and watching Dean's face as he realizes how much he missed her. I missed her too, Dean. Here's hoping that when we see her actually on the road, Back in Black will accompany her.
My favorite part was the end with the impala!! Finally its out from under that tarp! and Dean seems to finally be back ;) The grocery store scene was pretty funny. Im liking Lisa a lot more than I thought I would. She seems to really understand Dean and what he needs to be doing. Is it next Friday yet? ;)
I lovedddd it!!!!!! The ending freaking rocked!!! Hunter Dean and the Impala are back!!! and next week we get Cass back too!!! I'm sooo excited!! Can't freaking wait!!!!! XP
I thought the episode was awesome. I loved last weeks episode too. They both had great moments to show how the boys have changed and how they are still very much the same.
Sam letting the family know that Dean is his brother and that they had better be careful without actually saying all of that was great. Sam and Dean working together. Loved the grocery store moment.
Poor baby. Alpha shape shifter, interesting. This is going to be a great season.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
DEAN'S BACK!
ReplyDeleteStill don't like the Campbells, but a little disappointed that the stupid shifter blanked the quiet one.
ReplyDeleteActually Gwen went to Mark when he was killed but the shifter grabbed her and then dropped her. Christian went to run to him, but Grandpa stopped him.
ReplyDeleteYou're right of course. Just because Sam didn't say 'Well I didn't tell them', we shouldn't assume he did. Ok Sammy, sorry I was thinking mean things about you.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Campbells might not be the bad guys after all.
ReplyDeleteA 6 year mytharc? Maybe Kripke was lying.
ReplyDeleteThere is no proof that Sam was the one to tell the Campbell's about Dean's hell experience. After all hunters were able to find out that Sam broke the last seal and I doubt Dean, Bobby or the angels told those hunters?!
ReplyDeleteAlso since the Campbell's are so obviously being shown to be the untrustworthy ones and this season carries the tag-line 'everything is not as it seems' I'm inclined to believe that the Campbell's aren't actually the bad guys here.
ReplyDeleteKripke, please make an episode with the boogeyman, or another baby, or with another evil clown.
ReplyDeleteI want 2 c this episode soooooooooooooooooo bad, I missed it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't liked any of the girls that Dean has been paired with, especially Cassie.
ReplyDeleteEdited to add that Carmen from the djinn dream world was awesome also! However, since she was no more than a magazine beer ad I don't include her in the people Dean's been with category. In fact, Lisa is an awful lot like Carmen now that I think about it.
Zach was my favorite death last year. If they make it as good as that, I am perfectly content to wait the whole year long.
ReplyDeleteGreat monster summit - ha ha! And yeah, bring on Smart Sam. I'm kinda hoping he knows Grandpa's up to no good and he's working on the inside to stop him. That would be cool.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, it would leave Grandpa Creepy without his army. I think everyone would get suspicious if a bunch of random cousins showed up the next day to take their places. Or if he suddenly found a new batch of hunters to take up his cause.
ReplyDeleteOoooo I like this. I would so enjoy watching Crowley ordering Grandpa around. He totally deserves everything he gets - he's just nasty! And Crowley is awesome (for a demon). I do hope he gives Bobby back his soul soon though.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to think of it as Crowley is the one who got Grandpa out of hell.
ReplyDeleteOr at least that is how I like to think of this theory. Of course, it's SPN so none of this is even close.
No kidding. It was like they were stepping over his body to get to more important things. No shed tears, not even an "Oh gee, that's too bad." No wonder Mary wanted out of the hunter life. You get no sympathy there, even when you die.
ReplyDeleteOoo, new theory.
ReplyDeleteI know they were trying to draw parallels between John's raising of them and Dean's behavior with Ben and then with not wanting to have Christian raise the baby, but that part kind of fell flat for me.
In the last scene with the Impala I actually started screaming and crying of happiness XD
ReplyDeleteNow all that's left is Dean's leather jacket <3
LOVED the ep :D
True. I confuse myself trying to come up with theories though! :P
ReplyDeleteI agree, I too am miffed at why none of them seemed to care about the cousin dying, especially when they claim to be a tight knit family of hunters. I thought maybe it was to show that actually that's the opposite of what they are - I thought it would have helped to emphasise that if Dean said something about Mark being murdered. Bah.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know it's a bit early to be coming up with plausible theories, but it fills in the time between episodes. :)
ReplyDeleteBalthazar is due next episode I think... And from the spoilers I've read it seems like he could be up to something nefarious. So Grandpa Creepy and Balthazar could be working together, but I think it's difficult to conjure up a theory yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't want him to be working with Crowley; I can't imagine them working together, either.
Btw, I actually would have preferred Christian or Gwen to die instead of Mark, I thought he was the most bearable ...
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that Grandpa Creepy is working for the angels - rounding up the alphas to send all the monsters packing? He did say he was dragged DOWN the same time Sammy was dragged up, so he was obviously upstairs. I really don't want to believe he's doing anything good, because I just want to keep hating him, but maybe we're supposed to think he's the bad guy?
ReplyDeleteSo he could have been talking to Cas - although why he'd need a phone if Cas has his nerd-angel mojo back I don't know.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah!
ReplyDeleteMark was murdered and NONE OF THEM CARED. Says a lot about their "family"... Eek. No wonder Dean is suspicious.
ReplyDeleteI loved the completely OTT Impala close-ups. Brilliant!
I really loved the supermarket scene. LOL.
Yeah. I think, good or bad, the boys won't end up being on best terms with Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, he's creepy. Although, he was never as creepy when he was in it before.
Hope you're right, it is kind of obvious - but good or bad I just don't like him. He gives me the creeps. And see that's exactly what got Sam into trouble before with Ruby - the wrong thing for the right reasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Sam's apart of it or if he's being manipulated by Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteAlso, adding to the theory that Sam has been altered in someway, in the premier he did make it clear that he doesn't care about the "trivial" things anymore.
ReplyDeleteI thought this episode was definitely an improvement from last week. The premiere struggled to really get going, with so much being introduced, but this episode balanced things out quite nicely. It had action, humour, and a solid monster-plot.
ReplyDeleteWhile I loved most of it, though, I have to say I'm miffed at the ending.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest i think Sam was in on the plan there's just something off about him do u know hink . xxxx
ReplyDeleteHAHAA I Laughed at most things you said !!! I agree so much!!! Though some of the things you didnt like, i like BECAUSE i dont like.... if that makes sense
ReplyDeleteAnd I liked the mute guy, btw MARK and awesome actor. wish he would have died the last, gwen the first
You are the first person I have read that actually said they liked the actress who played Cassie in the Route 666. No one I know has ever liked her, including me.
ReplyDeleteI want to know why the shifter didn't kill all of them while he had the chance?
ReplyDeleteAnd who is Grandpa Creepy talking to on the phone? I know he's supposed to be family but I really want him dead. Maybe Sammy will kill him when he realises he's just been using him.
I get what you're saying. It'll be like Zachariah - we just knew Dean was going to kill him eventually but they made us wait so long. Made it much more satisfying when it actually happened though.
ReplyDeleteAnd as Chanelle says, they could kill Gwen (and Christian) several times and I would be very happy with that.
I love this episode ;) especially the end... The Impala is back and so is Dean! Have you seen his smirk^^ That alone made me want to cheer ;p
ReplyDeleteI`m also very happy that one of the CSK`s (borrowing that short cut ) are down, sadly it wasn`t Christian... god what he said to Dean about hell... he has to go next!!
ReplyDeleteGrandpa Samuel is seriously giving me the creeps.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteEPIC!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaving only seen this episode once (and fighting sleep at that), I totally didn't connect that. That is awesome! It shows you where the brothers' heads are at this time. Dean seems to have totally written off John (and especially is trying not to be John) while Sam is embracing his earlier life. Just another example of how they have changed from the pilot.
ReplyDeleteWATCH WATCH WATCH lol
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA yes the only good thing about the campell addition is if they die haha. im guessing 1 every 2 episodes. goes every eps would be weird ahhaah. BUT SO MUCH FUN! I kinda want gwen to die then come back to life so we can kill her again next week AW justice
ReplyDeletehum.. true. It says so much on their way of thinking. and dean didnt want ben to want to be like him, like his father did. AW I LOVE IT! and i hate myself cause at first i didnt understand the JOHN ahaaha. only bobby oups
ReplyDeleteStorywise not as great as last week but the last scene was epic.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch it yet, but I am SO GLAD everyone enjoyed it! I was afraid the series could be going down too soon. :S
ReplyDeletewas just great to hear rock back in the show again
ReplyDeleteits back to what i loved and missed
soo excited for wats to come!!!
Oh yeah and the baby's name? Interesting that Dean chose Bobby and Sam chose John - hmmm?
ReplyDeleteNow THAT was the SPN we know and love!
ReplyDeleteImpala !
ReplyDeleteI knew from the first episode of this season that Grandpa could not be trusted and I now know for sure that he can't be, but who could he be talking to on the phone?
ReplyDeleteThe thing I hated the most in this episode is that Sam obviously told the CSA about what Dean did in hell.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the idea of Sam going undercover for Cas. If he is, he's doing a great job, because even Dean seems convinced Sam is cosy with the cousins and Grandpa. Especially after Sam told them about Dean in hell. Maybe he had to spill something big to bond with the 'family'? It doesn't excuse it but it would explain it. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteI liked it a lot funny and close to the old recipie. I don't like the Cambels but it's not just me and it's not that I can do anything about it, but I don't think the Hell refference they had Dean and Christian talk was necessary if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteIn overall nice at least they seem to have put the brothers hunting together again.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree.
ReplyDelete- Lisa is awesome.
ReplyDelete- Sam is soooooo hiding something. Its jsut that I dont know on if he is just IN with whatever campbells hiding or if he has his own agenda.
- Samuel's boss. interesting.
- Alpha storyline. hm. Im betting Campbells are collecting alphas of all the monster species.
5/5
How cute were the babies? Especially the little one in the opener who got dragged under the bed was was having quite a bit of fun. And the other little guy who was laughing his head off at Dean.
ReplyDeleteI am liking Lisa more and more.
Oh wow. I get second comments o.O
ReplyDeleteMonsterbaby was amazing; loved Dean's Asian comment as well because well, definitely a true sentiment.
Haha typical, I actually liked Mark and he was the first Campbell to go. xD
ReplyDeletehell yeah! I'm a fan of lisa since the begining!
ReplyDeleteWHAT? mark died HAHAH I SO DIDNT SEE IT! wow, I was blind by the awesomeness of the episode i guess. DAMN! I liked him. but he has an other show...
ReplyDeleteUp until that scene, I was so disgusted with the heresy that is riding around in Dean's random truck and Sam's stupid charger...
ReplyDeleteBUT notice this is the 2nd time the Impala has only been out of the picture for 2 episodes before it was back to normal? (It was like that too on season 2)
lol the one that never said anything was the one I didn't really have a problem with. Gwen is so *twitches* annoying. She's only had a couple one-liners, but I can't stand her. And Christian needs to be the next to die after his little go at Dean...
ReplyDeleteOne Campbell down, 3 to go? (or 4?)
ReplyDeleteI loved the shapeshifter and I loved the baby, and I loved the twists, and I loved the opening scene--it was actually scary, while sometimes opening scenes on SPN in the last 2 years were just bloody and not that creepy.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it wasn't Gwen, but I'll take any of them at this point.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part was the end with the impala!! Finally its out from under that tarp! and Dean seems to finally be back ;) The grocery store scene was pretty funny. Im liking Lisa a lot more than I thought I would. She seems to really understand Dean and what he needs to be doing. Is it next Friday yet? ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! and anyone who didn't like Lisa before can shoove it. Well the theme of this season is 'everything isn't always what it seems.'
ReplyDeleteI lovedddd it!!!!!! The ending freaking rocked!!! Hunter Dean and the Impala are back!!! and next week we get Cass back too!!! I'm sooo excited!! Can't freaking wait!!!!! XP
ReplyDeleteI'm a horrible fan. That tarp-unraveling with the music and new jacket was awesome. It was a jean jacket though, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteI echo everyone's sentiments, but seriously, guys...
ReplyDeleteWhy has no one mentioned THE RETURN OF THE IMPALA?!?!?!
And, one of the CSK's down!
ReplyDeleteFREAKING AWESOME AND I LOVED IT!
ReplyDeleteI thought the episode was awesome. I loved last weeks episode too. They both had great moments to show how the boys have changed and how they are still very much the same.
ReplyDeleteSam letting the family know that Dean is his brother and that they had better be careful without actually saying all of that was great. Sam and Dean working together. Loved the grocery store moment.
Poor baby. Alpha shape shifter, interesting. This is going to be a great season.
Want to know who Grandpa was talking to.
That... was awesome.
ReplyDeleteSOOOO much better than ep1
ReplyDeleteAnd Grandpa Creepy is number one on the theme list.
ReplyDeleteAnd that they kept calling him Bobby John. I was giggling helplessly.
ReplyDelete
