Something tells me, and I hate to even contemplate this as an avid "Chuck" fanatic, that this back 11 will allow the producers to create a fitting SERIES finale. As much as I would love to see "Chuck" continue, I think the Powers That Be can't afford to keep a moderate ratings show on the air even though it is totally consistent. I hope I'm wrong but I just get a bad feeling.
And me I like to look at the bright sight : with 78 episodes at the end of season 4, it would take only a fifth season of 22 episodes for Chuck to have a 100 episodes. So I prefer to think that's the reason why NBC ordered 24 episodes. Anyway I'm so happy they picked up the show for a full season, it totally deserves it. Glad for The Event too, the best new drama on networks in my opinion.
Yeah. That's where the whole concept of "the cancellation bear" comes from. Chuck kept itself between at least two other shows (Chase, Undercovers) and the "cancellation bear." I'm guessing the bear will still get to Undercovers, additional scripts or not.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteOnce again, NBC's failures are Chuck's successes. Way to outrun the cancellation bear, Chuck!

ReplyDeleteAh, now that's the hand-wringing and nay-saying I've come to expect from Chuck fans. Keep ringing that doomsday bell, Sir Buzz Killington.

Chuck doesn't need to outrun the bear, he just needs to outrun the current lineup.
