Fox has ordered a family-comedy pilot inspired by a hit U.K. sitcom.
The network has picked up "Outnumbered," which revolves around three rambunctious kids who overwhelm their parents. The award-winning and semi-improvised British version of the title has aired on BBC 1 since 2007.
The pilot will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Chernin Entertainment and Hat Trick Prods.
Like "Raising Hope" last year, "Outnumbered" is being produced outside of the usual pilot cycle, with Fox hoping to have a greater selection of acting and production talent rather than vying with rivals during the frenzied pilot season. The pilot will be produced during the next few months.
Barbara Wallace and Thomas R. Wolfe are the writers/executive producers. Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope and Jimmy Mulville are nonwriting executive producers.

Yep, being from the UK myself, I love outnumbered, very funny but as
ReplyDeleteyou say I suspect the humour might not translate as well over the
pond. The Office is one of the few examples I can think of that
actually works.
Outnumbered is so great!! American humour is slightly different to dry British wit (not saying it is better or worse!) so I don't really see how it will work.. saying that they did a pretty good job with US version of The Office.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but will be interesting to see just how bad they can make it :)
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing show, they are fools to try to remake it, it will never come close to the original!
ReplyDeleteI beleive all of you are going to be very surprised when Outnumbered 2010 version comes out. It is brilliant ! Larry Charles director add's quality like no other. The cast, Cheech Marin, Ana Ortiz and Chicagos Cliff Chamberlain blend together like no other comedy I have ever seen. Not to mention the halaris 3 children, Mateous Ward as
ReplyDeleteJake, Gibson Bobby Sjobeck as Ben and Ava Acres as Lucy.A brilliant comedy that will keep you laughing thru-out.
