I completely agree with you. He wouldn't actually go through with a lot of the stuff he plays at doing. My point is that even by playing at these actions (hanging someone off a roof, threatening family, poking at open wounds) he's still violating rights and breaking laws.
That kind of stuff is no different than the ridiculously over-the-top Horatio Cane antics on CSI: Miami.
Although you may be right, Bruce_F, I totally didn't see it that way. I don't see any "true" intention behind his antics..I can't see him actually doing any of the really brutal stuff he plays at. To me it seems like McGarrett is simply pushing the limits to get results. I don't think he'd ever actually drop someone off a building, but he'll push the bad guys to the limit and force them to believe he would so that he can get what he needs out of them. I mean, in the pilot he was somewhat sympathetic to the guy that had a daughter and wife from another country. It's like he is finding the weak spots of the bad guys and exploits them to his gain. On the other hand, maybe I'm being a bit too accepting because Alex O'Loughlin is such nice eye candy. :D
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I thought the pilot for this show was okay but I haven't made up my mind about the series yet and this clip doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the idea of transforming Steve McGarrett into a "Dirty Harry" super cop. It's a bit much.
