Castle - Season 3 - Casting News - Lyle Lovett to star

Remember how much fun Nathan Fillion had pretending he was Indiana Jones on that episode of Castle last season? We expect he’ll enjoy this year’s alien abduction-themed hour just as much. Especially with Lyle Lovett as a guest star.

The singer and occasional actor (The Player, The Opposite of Sex) has signed on to play Agent Darryl Shafer, a shadowy government figure who detains and interrogates Castle (Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) as they investigate the death of a prominent astrophysicist whose body was found in her car—a victim of explosive decompression. Was she killed in a decompression chamber and her body moved, or did she die in space? Shafer wants to know what Castle and Beckett already know; they want to know what he’s been hiding.

In the end, they’ll all have to work together to, per a Castle source, “unmask the real killer before he disappears off the face of the earth, taking with him evidence of secrets that, if revealed, could challenge everything we currently believe.”
Lovett will appear in this season’s ninth episode.
