2010 Character Competition - Round 2.5 - Day 13

23 Sept 2010

Halfway through Round two and Grey's anatomy has been wiped from the competition, the show's final character Cristina Yang falling to Seeley Booth as well as Supernatural losing one of the brothers, leaving only Dean to fight the show's attempts to win both competitions, as Sam fell to Elena Gilbert of 'The Vampire Diaries.' Definetely a shock result, and puts Elena in very good shape for the rest of the competition, where if she defeats Seeley Booth in Round 3, she will face either Jack or Kate for a place in the semi finals. Things are hotting up rather nicely in the top half of the draw :P
And that leaves the bottom half of the draw, the side which saw the most shocks in round one. Big names such as Greg House, John Locke & Jack Bauer are out, paving the way for a different character to storm through the rounds and into the quarter and semi finals. Today begins the second half of the draw and we have two 'Smallville' characters competiting for their places, the first being Clark Kent who is taking on 'NCIS' heroine Ziva David, one of the shows two remaining characters. Also, the second 'Smallville' character is Lois Lane who is facing the might of 'Fringe's' Peter Bishop. Will the couple meet in round three, or can Ziva & David keep them apart, that is all down to you folks.

Also keep upto date with the competition and/or ask questions by following me on twitter. I'll also post some of my reviews, writing updates & other bits & bobs, more often than not TV and Film based. I'm at: http://twitter.com/AdDHarris

Don't forget to keep following your bracket if you entered the competition at http://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp

  1. I've never seen Smallville or NCIS, so my vote today goes to:

Peter Bishop. Great show, great character :)

  2. Ziva David and Peter Bishop. As you may have guessed - Im not the biggest Smallville fan ever (:

  3. Clark and Lois. No doubt. Specially about Lois.

  4. I just had a major facepalm moment when I saw Lois vs. Peter.
Sooooooo uncool. Almost as bad as Veronica vs. Dean.

I voted for Lois btw, even if I like Fringe better overall...

EDIT: OMG when I voted it was Lois 92 votes and Peter 92 votes.
    :)

  5. You know, you keep saying you've never seen half of these shows...are you sure you're qualified for running a tv show website? I'm really just kidding, but you seem to have a lot of holes in your viewing patterns...(I don't watch NCIS, but I have seen it on occasion, along with most other shows...maybe I jsut watch WAY too much tv...?)

  6. haha. I watch a fair few shows. But because I'm from England, the shows like NCIS, etc never really made it my way. I tend to have seen a couple episodes of quite a few shows though...Mad Men, The Mentalist, Breaking Bad, The West Wing etc etc.
Never quite hit the current trends of things like Gossip Girl, Glee, Vampire Diaries.
Realised the sad fact that my shows have nearly all gone this season. I watched 24, Prison Break, ER, LOST, as well as House & Fringe. So I'm gonna give 'The Event' a whirl this season :)

  7. I voted for Ziva and Peter.
And I totally see the next two characters I like losing ;(

  8. Ziva and Peter Bishop ;) not difficult

  9. What i love Smallville and Lois Lane by Erica Durance is just beautiful and kick ass awesome. Best female character on TV. Now that Clark is more of a man than ever and Tom Welling is so hawt, Clark is the best male character on TV. Combine the chermisty between these tow and the best ship on TV is made.

  10. i was forced to vote for peter bishop.

  11. CK and Lois all the way!
I'm SOOO sad to see that Lois is losing... She is my favorite character from Smallville, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't watch it at all!

  12. Clark Kent 'cuz he's Superman.

Peter Bishop 'cuz he's a lad.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Voted for Clark and Peter. While I do like Erica Durance's portrayal of Lois Lane, there's nothing in the material or the performance that makes it really stand out all that much from any other version of the character.

  14. My Mum and Dad live in England with just the bog standard channels and they love NCIS so it must be shown probably BBC2 the grandad station!!! When i lived there it always did my head in that we had to wait til January to start the American shows so we didnt catch up with them because of the daft way they show them here. Now I whinge cos i miss all the shows from back home! Ce la vie

  20. He's just living up to his screen name/avatar.
I don't see you doing your job of plugging "Backspacer" everywhere. :P

    ReplyDelete
  21. Peter Bishop. I've only seen 2 episodes of Fringe, but I loved it and I've never seen any of Smallville. Also voted for Ziva David because of the bits and pieces I've seen of NCIS...

    ReplyDelete
  22. New casting news today :D

Teri Hatcher to play Lois Lane's mom on SMALLVILLE!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Peter and Ziva, but neither will win. For shame.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Me too. I feel your pain. There will be no one left for me to vote for the way this is going.

Edited to say...pleasantly surprised to see Peter winning this one. I won't hold my breath for the same results in the morning but for now I will have pleasant dreams about Peter finally getting his due props. Maybe the folks at Fringe will follow this lead.

  26. I love Ziva David and Peter Bishop is quite intriguing. But Clark Kent and Lois Lane as portrayed by Tom Welling and Erica Durance are epic, the best Clark and Lois I've seen - so, Clark and Lois for me!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love Ziva and Peter is pretty good too... but it is Lois and Clark, Clark, Clark for me. I love Tom Welling's Clark Kent!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Glee is fabulous....if you watch the musical numbers and Sue and fast forward through ALL the rest of it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's easy. Clark and Lois durrr :D hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Have to say It's good to see Peter doing well at this stage. Fringe is my new best show now LOST is done :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmmmm, I think some of the Chloe fans are voting against Lois.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow, Elena won? That surprised me...

Voted for Peter. CAN. NOT. WAIT FOR FRINGE TOMORROW!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'll have you know Brittany is also fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Rofl. There always has to be a conspiracy.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, Fringe really stepped it up with Season 2. Easily one of my favourite shows on TV and Peter is definitely one of the better male leads.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey, the word "conspiracy"is under copyrights, my copyrights.

I'm afraid i'm going to file a lawsuit against you if you don't stop using it immediately.

    ReplyDelete

  38. Finally, both my choices are ahead in the polls!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would say Scully fans if anyone. And of course Fringe is pretty popular here.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I swear the polls are sort of rigged or something becuase yesturday i was watching the Sam Vs Elena one and the votes for sam Went up a little but then they went down even more. and i kept on checking them and when i did it seemed to go down and then a little up, by one or 2 vote, but it kept going down by alot when i refreshed the page to see the score.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What the hell happened? Peter was so far ahead when i went to bed only 6 hours ago :P Lois fans found the poll I guess. Majorly disappointed though

    ReplyDelete
  42. Suprised me too. But i think the polls sorta rigged becuase when i refreshed the page, The votes for sam either went up by one or went down by alot..... so something fishey is going on there lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. She shouldnt of won. I'm a fan of both shows, love them both alot. So im not baised or anything like that, but i swear the poll was rigged or something. Becuase the votes for Sam either went up by 1 or down by quite alot. So something was going on there

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm not. I want smallville characters through. I mean why not, good show, good characters :D. Plus i somehow think Clark and Lois are both going to end up through anyway lol

    ReplyDelete
  45. Voted for Clark and Lois, although the choice between peter bishop and lois was a hard one :P I love both Fringe and Smallville

    ReplyDelete
  46. Seriously? And you made this poll? When you are being bias like this, you can see why people are claiming there was cheating going on.You have no clue how wrong it looks when the maker of the poll is disappointed when one person is winning. You are getting hits, be happy! Just make a poll next time on characters you like then.

  47. Adam is just a volunteer who is running the competition.

This is MY site, I am the owner.

This is meant to be a FUN event.

If you're not enjoying it, I suggest you go elsewhere and let the many
1000's of us who are enjoying it continue to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Go Lois. I enjoy Fringe a lot but I had to go with my girl.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Lois Lane is any medium, ever. Sorry Pacey.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I thought there was something fishy too. I cast my vote for Lois last night and I saw Peter's numbers go up by one vote. Eh. I like Peter but love Lois so the choice was easy. His comment's nothing to get worked up about. He's not a professional and so he's not required to be objective. /shrugs. Besides, Lois won anyway. HBIC at work man.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The person running this isn't allowed to have an opinion? Are you kidding me? I'm glad that Adam has an opinion and shares it. It encourages others to comment too. This would be a very dull competition if no one shared their opinions.

Why would anyone create a poll with just characters they like? That's just an ego trip.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Peter lost! Bummer! Now the only person I care about on the entire right side is Abby. I guess I can better devote my time to Supernatural then.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It kinda sucks that Lois and Clark have to go up against eachother in the next round.. =( I wish there was a rule that said no character from the same show were to go up against eachother..

Otherwise I'd have loved to see Elena and Damon go up against eachother, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm happy that Ben and Juliet / Jack and Kate / Clark and Lois are all going against each other. This way their fandoms will choose who they want to represent them and hopefully there will be a better variety of people in the final four.

Let's just hope it isn't Elena vs Damon in the finals, since VD is the only show that still has viable candidates on both sides of the brackets.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Dude, this is not a general election. This is a poll on a favourite character... everyone's allowed to have a favourite character. Try not to take life too seriously, you'll get frown lines.

    ReplyDelete
  56. So... I can't demand a recount? There could be some hanging chads and I think ACORN is involved somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sorry I upset you. But like the many people say, I'm just volunteering to do this for my own fun and for the fun of everyone else. So I figure I'm allowed to join in. I don't tweet or facebook or scavage the internet for votes. I was just saying I had hoped Peter would get through ad it looked like he would. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ziva David ROX!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ok can't vote for the first show because i don't watch Ncis but i will say i will never vote for Clark Kent because he is totally wooden as a character and Smallville is too much of a soap opera. I gave up on it years ago and i'm glad i did xx

As for the second, refer to the last part of my first comment but i pick Peter because i like him and he's on Fringe xx

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yay Clark is winning!!! :D. Ooh and Lois only needs a few more votes.

    ReplyDelete
  61. LOL! Clark and Lois won fair and square bud ;). you should have seen the wild twitter tweets about Erica Durance losing on this poll..
