And How I Met Your Mother‘s titular mama is… not Laura Bell Bundy! But the stage vet/country singer has scored a recurring role on the hitcom—and a fairly pivotal one at that.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Bundy—who played Elle Woods in the Broadway version of Legally Blonde—has been cast as Robin’s new co-host on Metro News One. She succeeds Don (Ben Koldyke), who left town in May’s season finale after dumping Robin.
Rumor has it Bundy’s character will go out on a date with Ted, but it’s my understanding that she is not the “complicated and intriguing” new love interest exec producer Craig Thomas mentioned in this week’s Ask Ausiello.
