  1. bro, they've gone past high note. Season 5 as the last season would've been the highest note with Lucifer being trapped again and Heaven having a new man in charge (Cass).

  2. If Darlton wouldn't have had the chance to set an end date, ABC probably would've messed with Lost the same way, milking it

  3. I think most people wouldn't want a 7th (or even a 6th) season if it was just 'milking it'. However, various words like reboot, a new chapter etc, have been used so I'm hoping they'll find new and interesting directions for the show. I've said it before: let's be thankful for Supernatural. It could be really, really bad and still be light years ahead of the abundance of crap that's out there!

  4. Well if that can make you happy my friend:
Sara Gamble was asked if season 6 was the last and she said that they didn,t plan it to be at all but that if they dont get a season 7 they have a plan to end it for good. ;)

    CW F.O.

  5. It's not just Demon!Dawn, Sera said in a few interviews that they have a plan for a series finale and for a normal finale like always. The Dawn tweet just means the network is willing to keep the show. In the end, the writers and Jensen and Jared will have to decide if they want to continue. If they say No, Dawn can do nothing about it. I don't think she is stupid enough to try continue the show without Jared or Jensen.

  6. Just wait and see. The first episode of season 6 hasn't even aired yet. Don't talk about Smallville, Supernatural has way better writers and hey, Buffy did manage to have an awesome 7th season.

  7. Best news I have had all week (and it has been a very rough one)!

  8. No I got the impression that they couldn't figure how to do apocalypse worthy effects and so scrapped that storyline for a majority of the season and gave us all the "humor" episodes instead. I'm glad the apocalypse is over and I will continue to watch the show even if season 6 is pure drivel. I always give shows I love at least 2 seasons to get back on track. However, I am a big fan of shows ending after their plan has ended. Kripke said 5 years and that's what it should be. And if Sera Gamble makes me hate Dean by having him abandon Lisa and Ben I will cry. The one praise I have for Lost is that they ended it on their terms. I do not want SPN to go the way of Buffy and X-Files. Shows that clearly went past their prime and yet were forced to continue due to their networks' greed. CW hasn't wanted SPN for years; they better not ruin it now.

  9. They can drag the characters out until we don't recognize them anymore and care even less. That would be the real shame.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Nah. She would reboot - SPN the new younger version of half naked teens. Think SPN meets 90210/Melrose. The CW hasn't met a bad reboot they haven't loved yet.

  11. The X-files got in trouble because it was an awful show. It's up to Jensen and Jared. They're adults. So I hope that they still like it enough to continue if not than not.

  12. Why? What iff it becomes silly...? *worries*
I don't want Supernatural to become a joke. Neither want to hear people say "What a shame, they should have ended it on season 5" or something like that...
I'll wait to see what's going to happen, but I'm not keeping my hopes too high. :S

  13. I do hope they renew their contracts- to me that is the biggest threat to renewing SPN. But if they don't, I hope they they can move out of the Horror genre.

    ReplyDelete
  14. YEAH!! Sara said they had an ending for season 6 in case it was the last one but that they didn't write it as the last season. so watch it and we will get a season 7

    ReplyDelete
  15. argh thank you finaly.
Don't bitch without giving it a chance people! After episode... 4 or 5 you can decide if you like or not and after 10 you can stop if you hate. But not now please

    ReplyDelete
  16. I for one hope that Jensen and Jared do not renew their contracts. That's what got the X-Files in trouble. I appreciate everything they have given to their fans and this show. They are awesome and I would miss watching them. However, both have lost out on other acting possibilities and I think they deserve the right to try new things. Plus, most TV contracts go beyond one year and they can't get out of them if the show starts sucking.

  17. arrrrgh love this show so much but please don't go on beyond season 6. I do not want this turning into Smallville plus I would love to see what other projects both boys can do.

  18. Awesome news! I always thought it would be a waste to start a new chapter and end it after one season.
Let's see how season 6 does, creatively and in the ratings, but I would love to get a seventh season with Sera behind the wheel. As long as the Supernatural crew wants to continue, I'm cool with it and will always give it a chance.

  19. They should've ended it after season 5. Like the plan was. More then 6 seasons goes beyond milking it!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Just as long as they don't do something stupid like bring in new characters to be the "next generation" new hunters... Then it wouldn't be Supernatural anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ehn, not a big fan of the whole "milking it till it's dry" idea, but it's Supernatural, so I'll follow it until its dying breaths :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. No. End it with Season 6. End it on a high note. Give the story some peace instead of needlessly dragging it out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. just wait and see^^' Give a chance to the serie, give a chance to season 6, to see how it goes before saying it's boring or anything

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think it will really depend on if season 6 is any good. If the ratings are ok (for a CW show of course) and the storyline is still interesting, why shouldn't they be able to do a seventh season?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't know. I would have been really sad if the show would have finished with season 5 since the season was such a mix of hits and misses. Didn't you get the impression that the apocalypse storyline was starting to weigh on the writers? They wanted to do crazy, risky episodes and always struggled with tieing it into the apocalypse story arc.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe. Maybe not. It will depend how good season 6 really is. Just wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, but effects are not everything, you also need a plan to create urgency. Take Lucifer for example. It was never clear to me what he was planning to do when he would have defeated Michael. Zach talked about oceans boiling in 5.01 but in 5.04 we only saw Lucifer wearing a white suit and a few zombie humans. All he did was complain about God and the rest of the time he died nothing, not really an apocalypse worthy demon. Alistair was more threating than him but I agree more money for effects could have helped as well. If you don't have money, just use a character for exposition.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree with you, it's not really milking it when they start something new. Let's see how season 6 looks and then decide.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You can't drag out a character, only a story. I think it's good that the characters change. I don't want them to be the same as in season 1 that would be boring.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think it will depend on so many things if the show gets renewed next year. Do they get Jensen and Jared to renew their contracts, is the story still fresh and of course, the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't think they would do that. Sera, Kripke etc. always point out that the show in its core is about the relationship of the brothers. I don't think you can just transfer that to a new generation of hunters.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Never. Kripke wouldn't allow it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sometimes I wish Dawn Ostroff didn't have a twitter. if this were Kripke's tweet, then I'd be more excited, but when it's the channel extending the show even against the writers/producers, (Aka season 6...) I am not too happy about it. However, I am excited about season 6 and if it can end on a good note that begs for a season 7, I'm game.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Agreed. Lucifer was wasted. In fact, I think the whole storyline was wasted. It was supposed to be the APOCALYPSE - the biggest of the bad. Little kid Lillith was a scarier opponent.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would love to see it continue, but I realistically believe season 6 will be the last. With their contracts up, both married with wives and lives in LA, it'll be a long shot for Jensen and Jared to want to continue up in Vancouver. It's apparent they love the show, it's crew and cast, but they have new lives and families and they've both had to pass up other opportunities. Besides, the network would have to pony up some big bucks (as they did for Tom Welling last year) to get them both to re-up and I can't see that happening for a show they admit doesn't fit their 'target audience' of teenage girls. So, I will watch and wait, but I'm planning on having to bid farewell to the Winchesters after this season. It'll suck, but I hope to be able to follow both actors in future endeavors for quite some time.

  36. And did having an end date help LOST? Nope, it was one of most terrible endings ever. Although they had 3 years to plan it, their answers still felt rushed and shallow.

  39. Just view the first 5 seasons as a novel for television and season 6 and the following seasons as book 2. As long as they have a new and interesting arc it's a good idea. It's a bad idea when you extend the first original arc past where it is supposed to end and tread water years on end. End the first arc and start a new one and you should be ok.

  40. THIS IS FANTASTIC! I want Supernatural to continue as long as they want to keep doing the show!

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is the best news I've heard since I heard they got renewed for season 6:p Can't get enough of Supernatural, and reall looking forward to watching Sera Gamble having a go at the job:)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes please! This would make me really happy! :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. As long as the writing stays as good as it has been and the storylines stay so compelling I will keep watching the show. I just worry they will drag it out too long like they've done with other shows.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The finished the old story with Swan Song and starting a new story with season 6, so I don't really see how they could dragg something out when they start something new.
