definite improvement over the pilot for me. Some really great imagery. I was sure that the tabloid reporter was going to be dessert by episode's end, but perhaps she will be by season's end if her character recurs...lol
Well if they're staying true to the novels then Lounds doesn't die until after Lector goes to asylum. Also I'm fairly certain her character is a regular, not just recurring.
This show is all that I hoped for. All the characters are likeable, love the imaginery, the music is just right. Some people has compared it to The Following. I like Hannibal so much better. It doesn´t rush through the story, but gives it time. Dancy does an amazing job as Will.
I didn't know Hug Dancy. His Will Graham is vulnerable and yet strong in his own way. His self-disgust and fear of becoming the monsters he chase is palpable in Dancy facial expression, posture and voice. A+ for Dancy perfect acting.
I had my doubt concerning Hannibal casting too; I'm a huge fan of "the silence of the lambs" and I thought nobody could compete with anthony Hokins, but the icy confident Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal is magnificent.
Many people have pointed the beautiful imagery, the awesome cinematography, the perfect acting by the lead cast members. All true, but Bryan fuller genius for storytelling and dialogues are at core what made this show a artistic success. Kudos to the man!
favorite quote so far: "This cannibal you have him getting to know, I think I can help Will see his face"
Completly true, I mean, I like The following a lot but I don't know how much they can strech the plot out, every chapter seems as it was a chapter away from the series finale. Hannibal, on the other hand, I could see it go for years, and be glad to, we need some good TV to rely on.
This show is DARK..... really DARK! I keep thinking how sick I'd be feeling if I was one of Lecter's dinner dates who found out after the fact that I'd been eating human flesh... *shudder*
Yes, I agree. I like the pace in Hannibal better. It doesn´t rush it´s characters, we will slowly get to know them. I´m still watching the Following, but it would suit me fine if the season 1 finale was the series finale. I´m not sure I would watch another season. I would love to see a lot more of Hannibal though.
I like ti so far, it's both darkly graphic and strangely subtle. The only question I have is will every episode have a seemingly cannibalistic twist? I know he wasn't eating the mushrooms, but still he was growing them on people.
I read on TvLine next episode really sets what the show is about, so I'm hoping we won't get a new killer every week or things will start to get stale pretty fast. I'm thinking they might do something Dexter-ish (in which we sometimes get episodic killers but always have a big bad).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Gah! Still can't get over how visually stunning this show is!

ReplyDeleteWhat a way to a episode. The seductive nature of the show really gets into your skin, doesn't it.

ReplyDeleteso far. Not too sure NBC is the best network of the show.
I absolutely loved that last scene.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly, I hope ratings are on our side in this one

ReplyDeleteEvery time Will goes into "killer mind mode" my entire body tingles with excitement! It kind of reminds me of the detective guy from Heavy Rain.
