  1. I wonder if Benny is the monster Dean meets in Purgatory.

    And yay, Kevin!

  2. So Benny is probably the monster and Kevin will be in as early as episode 2. That really surprises me. I expected to get into the arc of this season starting in episode 4. I guess flashbacks means we really won't be getting a lot of Purgatory in episodes 1 and 2. If true, that's a bit disappointing but Crowley makes all episodes better and when there's Kevin there is sure to be Crowley.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm guessing the show will jump right into this season's main arc and go back to fill in the time-jump gaps later.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The monster Dean meets in Purgatory?

Excellent title for an episode that will likely be about Kevin, well we should be finding out what the mythology of the season will be by then so makes then.

I wonder if Dean is still Purgatory with Benny at the time? What will Sam be doing, I doubt he'll be involved in any major Crowley/Kevin plot at this point?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm a lot more excited than I thought I'd be at the prospect of more Kevin this season... I guess I really just didn't expect to like him at all last season. But yay! And in conjunction with the comments below, I also am assuming that Benny is the monster Dean meets in Purgatory.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It does appear that will be the format. I guess I will slowly let go of my brothers fighting side-by-side in Purgatory dream. :-) Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's sounding more and more like Dean will be out of Purgatory by the first commercial break in the premiere. Time jumps - they can be a benefit or a curse in TV.

  9. I think Kevin and Mensa Monster were the greatest additions to Supernatural last year. Far better than Garth and Frank to me. Since Mensa Monster's dead, I'm glad Kevin is sticking by for a bit. For a kid way over his head, he did some brave things.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Great. I love Crowley.

Benny is the new monster? or is one of Crowley's henchmen.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think we'll see Purgatory in flashbacks. I'm ok with this only because we have Crowley.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Personally I liked Frank and Garth better. But the word of God concept I do like and Kevin fits that. Still hoping for some Garth.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Are they talking about the prophet?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Are we sure this is episode 2 or is this the second episode to be filmed?

    ReplyDelete
  15. What's a Kevin Tran? But seriously I liked the kid and the whole 'Word of God' concept I just a little apprehensive about execution of the idea. Fingers crossed for a more consistent narrative this season. Sometimes I think they would benefit from mini arcs instead of a season long big bad if only because I hate filler episodes for any show but especially when it comes to SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  16. At this point the first few episodes are already written so I guess it could be the synopsis from the premiere or episode 2. However, I strongly hope it is episode 2 or they do one of those infamous episode title changes. Who wants the premiere to be called We Need to Talk About Kevin?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah. Kevin the prophet apparently has a major role to play in season 8.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My joy at having the episodes titles not follow the same direction as last year ... so fleeting. One episode, that's all I got. And now we're back to movies. At least it's not a pun. That's something, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  19. IF they are planning on saving Kevin, are they going to help Meg also?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hmm.
Okay, perhaps this will be the mot wonderful season of SPN ever, but so far I haven't liked one bit of information that I have read.
I don't fancy the love interest, nor the search for God's word, or for God himself, not do I really want to know any thing about Kevin ,or Benny who on the outside is good but underneath masks a savagery! Are they trying to copy from Grimm now? Does he not have a wolf-friend or something?

It's all so simple for me. Sam and Dean in the Impala, on the road, hunting things, saving peoples lives from supernatural baddies.

It seems we're not even getting the Winchesters fighting their way out of Purgatory, or maybe finding along-forgotten back-door that would have taken them out through Heaven or Hell.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see what they come up with!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can't see a Meg-less season 8. My guess is that she ends up finding out more of Crowley's plan and they get her out to know what that plan is.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's what I heard. The first ep. Very disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. SInce Meg's body was shot up last season, do you think we'll have a different Meg?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not at all. She's a demon. I mean Meg 1.0 got thrown off a building and came back in the same body. I think they have to be salted and burned before it becomes an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Everything I read on S8 disappoints me more. If their goal is to lower my excitement and enthusiasm, then they did a bang up job.
I'll watch each episode, in hopes the actual thing will excite me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I totally agree with everything you say. I really wanted Dean in Purg longer...3-4 eps...and have him showing himself as the great hunter his rep says he is. I'd like him to get back some confidence and attitude. But it looks like Amelia is going to have the attitude. Is she going to be mean to Dean? I guess that will depend on who writes the ep. Hope it's not the Dean-hating duo. That worries me. Don't like the new love interest either. How many loves can you have and lose to monsters, demons, lifestyle or walk away from...and it has all been done. Singer says they know we don't like the boys apart...fine...put them in Purg together and let's see some brotherly monster bashing. And some good music. Not too sure about the Kevin arc either. Don't like the bible stuff so I hope we don't go too far with that. Why do we need god's word now? I heard it's going to be a demons/angel arc this season. Angels...really? I'm hopeful and will always love the boys. Hope my faith in Jeremy is justified.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And hope for a very cool Purgatory "brothers monster fighting" scene is now officially dead. (heavy sigh) Oh well. There's always fan fic.

Thankfully, I 'm sure there are several twists the writers have planned that will rock my world and keep me on the edge of my seat. One thing I will say about Supernatural. It rarely ever goes where I think it will but it is usually always worth the ride when we get there.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It hurts to let go. I was so hoping for a good fight.

    ReplyDelete
  29. But how did a kid who is super scheduled, planning to be first Asian-American Pres, over achiever, know how to pick a lock with a too big barrette? Does his mother know what he does in his down time?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Welcome to SpoilerTV by the way. I wanted brothers killing Purgatory monsters too. Hopefully it will be replaced by non-depressed brothers side-by-side killing (fill in the blank) on earth instead.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same here.

I don't exactly know what I expected to hear about season eight but I thought it might somehow have gone down a different road, but it just seems they want to continue from where season seven left off.

I started to wonder when I heard about the love interest for Sam. I mean it's really just a re-hash of the Ruby idea. Dean's in Purgatory and Sam bumps into a girl who will help in some way till Dean gets back out.

As it seems that Dean will be back in the first episode the meeting with her will probably be told in flashback much as it was with Ruby.
However, this is all speculation and maybe things will go differently altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good point. I'm choosing to believe it was a basic physics kind of thing or that he read about it on a website.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah, having Sam end up in Purgatory with Dean and having them both fight their way out in a bad-ass Winchester way would have been really exciting!
They would have been on unknown, dangerous ground and would have had to use all their wits, intelligence and resources to get out alive!

If Singer says he knows we like the brothers together, then why not do so?

As for the angel/ demon arcs, they are getting a bit old.
As you say, it's all been done. I don't mind the demons so much, they've always been around and we need the bad guys, but the angels are really an ambiguous lot. I don't think they themselves know if they are good or evil!
The bible stuff would have been more suited to seasons 4 and 5, I think than now too.

As for the music; bring it on! The more the better, some roaring hard rock to roll along with the Impala. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. They need to shorten this title. It's a mouthful.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I read this is going to be the season premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Garth and Charlie were the best.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is going to be the premiere. I hope they change the title now. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh I agree so much, and with your other POVs too. I guess I thought the "Dean in Purgatory, Sam on Earth" story wrote itself, with enormous possibilities. Not least of which was a chance to bring back so many beloved old characters, something they love to do.
But I get the impression Carver is writing Being Human 3, or something. I don't know, but it doesn't feel at all like SPN to me, just same old, same old as you said.
I keep annoying myself with my constant negative reactions to everything they put out. But frankly, I think they deserve it, for how they fell down on the job lately. They'll get accolades from me when they earn it again. I am sooo cranky lol.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I smell Being Human, don't you?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think they just toss random pieces of information out to satiate the fan base. The paragraph of drivel they spewed out about the direction of Season 8 was just like an answer you'd get from a politician.

Man, I wish they could do three 20-30 minute webisodes to run one a month until the season starts. They could develop supporting chracters, introduce recurring characters and add to back story. It would also give fans something to look forward to during the summer.

    Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Burn Notice does an online comic book during its hiatus. I think Supernatural could do a lot with that if webisodes are too expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  42. SO THIS IS WHERE IT CAME FROM. NO WONDER. LINKS I SWEAR ARE NOT EASY FOR ME TO COME BY. Slightly fearful of this "Benny" guy. But for all we know he could be an innocent bunny............

    ReplyDelete
  43. ZoeF
Right. Your post reflects my exact feelings, including the crankiness. lol.!

The addition of a girl and a " monster" friend does remind one a little of Being Human, especially If she turns out to be a ghost! ;)
Maybe their idea is to bring in extra characters and give the J's more time off by concentrating the occasional episode on these newcomers.

For me, the Winchester Brothers are the DNA of the show and as long as that team of two stays true and strong in the story-line, they can bring in as many surrounding characters as they wish, but these characters have to stay secondary and not do the Winchester's job for them.

However, If they're going to turn it into an ensemble show and weaken the "Sam and Dean against the world" basis of it, then it's another story altogether, in my opinion of course.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ther's definitely a scent of it wafting in the air. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Is this"Benny" a guy.or not?Strange name either way for something evil.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, maybe they release these little bits of information like feelers to explore the terrain and see what the fans' reactions are gonna be.

Political answers are useful in any profession, you learn to talk for hours without saying anything. lol!

Personally I would prefer that they keep everything under wraps and present us with the finished article when the new season starts, so pumping up the anticipation to a high!.

SPN's budget is rock-bottom so they say, so I doubt that they could do anything extra outside of producing the show itself; even a new photo shoot or poster seems to be impossible to have!

    ReplyDelete
  47. OK, I'm confused. You don't like that Amelia is being written as sarcastic, even though most of the characters on SPN are at least a little sarcastic (even Sam has a dry sarcasm), and you don't like that she's a love interest, but in another thread you said you missed Bela. What's the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  48. so guess sam will try and find kevin

    ReplyDelete
  49. In my mind that fate was sealed when Dean ended up in Purgatory without Sam.

I never considered Dean and Sam fighting in Purgatory together until you mentioned it because Sam was left behind on Earth. In order to get Dean out, well, it wouldn't be smart to get himself trapped there too.

Not saying it wouldn't have been fun, cause it would have, just saying I hadn't even considered it.

The only 2 things I could see happening after the finale was Cas having popped away for a minute and would come back (until I heard everyone else saying I was wrong with this idea-whatever) and then I thought Dean would be truly alone and Cas had been forced out of Purgatory somehow. In both cases, Sam was/is stuck on Earth searching for what happened to Dean and how to get him out.

Whether Dean got himself out or Sam got him out I didn't think anything would happen to Sam, that he'd stay on Earth (Really Sam has to be the one to save him (in less someone else does), I mean Purgatory is supposed to be tight to prevent monster souls escaping...so if Sam doesn't I will really want the writers to really make sense of how the heck Dean got himself out lol ).

    ReplyDelete
  50. But that is how I originally wanted it, but worried about the aspects Carver may be bringing from that show. I wanted him to bring the heavy action plot, the family/friendship strong bonds, and dark yet light stuff (a balance of comedy and drama).

I really hope he doesn't just bring love interests and [possibly] a friendly monster.

Still thinking positive though, because what I want is still in the running and spoilers fool me all the time. Every time I decide I know exactly what will happen, it seems to turn into something very different.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't see Dean getting himself out and I think that would ultimately hurt the concept of Purgatory as we know it if he does. My guess is that Sam plus some powerful being does it. If Benny ends up getting Dean out, I'm calling foul too. Why would he have waited around in Purgatory if he could have released himself earlier.

There is still a chance that Cas is in Purgatory with Dean. He could have been looking for a safe place to hide or scouting what bad was heading their way. However, I'm hoping for the angels can't be in Purgatory and therefore he got zapped out plan.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Nothing is ever as the spoilers make it out to be. That is the one constant in being a Supernatural fan. Sometimes I think the strategy for leaking spoilers is get them talking however you can. It doesn't seem to matter if its positive or negative talk as long as we are all up in arms crazy and thus continuing to keep the buzz about SPN going.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It could still be a deliberately misleading spoiler to make us think one thing in order to really surprise us when it airs. After all the spoiler about Castiel said he was a demon when it first came out. Christy was supposed to be a love interest for Sam in season 4 and ended up being Ruby 2.0. All spoilers have to be taken with heavy skepticism on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  54. My guess is that Sam will try to gt Dean out of Purgatory and once Dean is out, they will both try to find Kevin.

    ReplyDelete
  55. My new truly horrifying speculation - what if Benny is an angel? On second thought, nah. That would be far too repetitive. Thank goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My gut says Benny in combo with Dean find a way out--and somehow this fits into Dean's arc.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think we should ignore the possibility of Death helping out. He did make the eclipse to put the Leviathans back. He seemed to like Dean. And I love me some fried pickles.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I absolutely think Sam would attempt to contact Death. After AlphaVamp, it would be my next move. Even if it would be an easy-out, the idea of Death appearing again is very exciting. He is such a cool character.

    ReplyDelete
  59. But it's a reference to the book. I think it's fine.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Actually, I think it may be different from the Ruby relationship? Because Ruby positioned herself to be there for Sam, to "help" him get over his grief for Dean - just to focus him on killing Lilith and to open the door to Hell.

From what we've heard so far, this is a human girl, not a demon. And, as of yet, she doesn't appear to have an agenda. I even heard something about her resisting getting close to Sam, at first, I think. My money's on this being a slow build up, something natural; really, good for Sam. He's hardly going to be betraying Dean, I think it'll take longer than that. If the girl helps him to cope, then that's good. I doubt it'll be the same as last time.

Just my thoughts! Sorry to butt in.

    ReplyDelete
  61. But isn't not knowing whether the angels are good or evil interesting? I mean, knowing all the time what you're dealing with can be boring. I do love demons, honestly I do; they have style. But angels are interesting because they're not like demons at all. They can be bad guys or allies. Doesn't that variation offer a lot of possibilities?

I agree with the music, definitely!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Welcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for posting. In Supernatural, the demons are as likely to become allies as angels. It just depends on who needs whom at the time. I think angels are much the same way. Not trustworthy but sometimes necessary to ally with just to take out a bigger problem.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I doubt if Sam betrays Dean because of Amelia too. That would be too repetitive. However, I'm not sure it will be a slow build up of a relationship. It sounds like she's going to jump on our screen as an already established love interest. It could be that a lot of time goes by between when Dean gets to Purgatory and when he gets out but still that wouldn't be time in which we get to know Amelia except in flash backs.

    ReplyDelete
  64. If there's one thing I've learned about spoilers in general, it's that they should all be taken with a very large grain of salt. For all we know, Benny's actually a Bull Mastiff that's been trained as an attack dog, and doesn't like it when he feels his new master (Sam) is threatened in any way.

I still have high hopes for the new season. The last show runner had never done that before, and SPN was only the 2nd show she'd ever worked on in any capacity anyway. At least Carver has a little more experience, and seems to have the intelligence to remember that if he disappoints the fans, the fans will go away.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Looking forward to seeing it this fall.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hi! It's not really the angels in themselves.
It's just that there's too much to deal with on the show now. The angels had their story arc and it should have ended at the end of season five, In my opinion of course.

I don't like the angels because you can't be sure of them. They might turn on you in a a critical moment. whereas with the demons even if they seem friendly you know they're not to be trusted!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sammy gets a dog! Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  68. You're not butting in in the least. :)

I don't like the idea of a love affair for Sam because I don't really see a happy outcome for it, so what's the point of even giving him one?

I'm sure she won't be bad like Ruby.
I just don't see it going anywhere just as I didn't see the point in Lisa either. No-one really thought that Dean would end up staying with her.

    ReplyDelete
  69. They don't have to do the same they did with Bela in Red Morning Sky at Morning. If they expose her too much, too early, everyone is going to hate her.

    ReplyDelete
  70. A monster could totally work. If an angel worked a monster could work.

    ReplyDelete
  71. And Dick Roman was supossed to be a demon.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Maybe Sam puts this Benny guy in Purgatory to get Dean out.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You guys need to remember Bobby is gone. We need more recurring characters.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well, as we've seen, nothing is ever truly gone on SPN, so we'll probably see Bobby again.
As for recurring characters do we really need them?
The ones they had they got rid of, to bring in these new ones that may or may not be better.
The story started out as two good guys on their own, in this case brothers with all their emotional baggage, fighting evil, sort of like "Batman ad Robin" and now it's turned into something else.

Some viewers like this formula better and some don't.
A lot of people didn't like the Road house either but I did. It was a place to go occasionally to meet other hunters, pick up gossip, etc.
We had three solid recurring characters in Ellen, Jo and Ash. Ash was the weirdo genius, Ellen the mother figure and Jo the unrequited love.
Bobby as the crusty old hunter completed the picture.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I don't count Ellen, Jo and Ash as recurring. For me the only truly recurring characters are Bobby and Castiel. And maybe Crowley.

Now that Bobby is gone I want another character to do as many episodes as he did.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't want anyone to be in as many episodes as Bobby. That would for all intents and purposes make them a main character. I am far happier with a wide assortment of recurring characters that come and go frequently and never outstay their welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'll conform if he/she is in the next two seasons. I don't want to have characters that die in the midseason. No more Campbells, Franks or Balthazars.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Fair enough! The problem is finding the right character.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That would be the perfect way to go.
Give us lots of differently interesting "mini guest star arcs " without them becoming permanent, while keeping the brothers at the centre of it all

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't want any of the new recurring characters to die, even the ones who annoy me. There has been too much death already and quite frankly it has gotten anticlimactic. It's time the writers find new ways to get us cliff hanging. Death shouldn't be the only card in the deck. People do leave for different reasons.
