I really liked this episode of Chicago Fire, we got some further introduction to some new characters and got some good moments from our OG characters.
I absolutely loved the whole Herrmann storyline of this episode, anytime we get to see Hermmann be in his grumpy mood is great. He is no stranger to different ventures so it genuinely wouldn’t be too far fetched for Herrmann to venture into acting and this was a very good start. I will forever adore that we get to see Herrmann using his flip phone and working out how to use technology as if it was just invented that day. The sheer joy that came from that storyline was amazing.
I wasn’t too much of a fan of the main storyline of this episode but I think that it was only because it was a very predictable outcome. However I did like that we got to see Vasquez open up to Stella about his path towards the police academy, I definitely don’t think that this is the last time we will see Vasquez linked to the police academy.
We got a little bit more of an update on the Vasquez, Violet and Novak triangle. There was finally confirmation that Novak likes Vasquez a bit more than just a crush. I am surprised that Novak didn’t pick up on anything that was happening with Violet, especially since she was able to clock that Sal was pulling away from her. I think after that conversation with Stella, Violet may be on the verge of opening up to Novak and telling her about the connection she had with Vasquez.
I never thought I would say this but I did miss the presence of Pascal. It may have been because we also had no Severide this episode, so there really wasn’t a chief which has generally been a pretty constant theme for Chicago Fire, despite who is in the chair. I am glad that Severide has been pipped to be the new chief, he has been doing a really great job of stepping up in this last season and I think it is about time we saw Severide have another promotion.
It was so nice to see Lizzie bonding with her sister more, I think the DNR patient's daughter struck a chord with her when she thanked the paramedics. I really like that we are getting to see a little bit more of Novak’s home life, especially as that part of her life has been generally kept quiet. Even her sister coming to the firehouse and meeting Violet was very big.
Overall this was a really great episode, there is a few storylines that are going to continue and I can’t wait to see what will happen!
