In first place we have Sadie Sink who plays Max Mayfield on Stranger Things
Sadie Sink’s performance in Season 5, Episode 6 stands out as one of the most emotionally layered and widely discussed aspects of the episode. Critics, creators, and Sink herself have commented on her work—especially regarding the controversial “podcast”‑style emotional scene with Holly Wheeler.Episode 6 hinges significantly on Max’s emotional journey as she attempts to escape Vecna’s mind prison. Sink delivers a performance that highlights Max’s mixture of exhaustion, vulnerability, and determination.
In second place we have Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise on IT: Welcome to Derry.
Episode 7 delivers the most substantial and revealing look at Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of Bob Gray — the human Pennywise — offering a rare chance to evaluate his performance beyond the monstrous form he is famous for in the films. Across multiple critical sources, Skarsgård’s work is widely praised as mesmerizing, layered, emotionally grounded, and arguably some of his most compelling Pennywise work to date. This depiction gives Skarsgård space to exercise a quiet, melancholic performance rarely associated with Pennywise—deepening the tragedy of who the clown once was.
In third place we have Rose McIver as Samantha on Ghosts.
In Episode 9 of Season 5 (“It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol: Part One”), Rose McIver delivers one of her signature holiday‑episode performances—full of physical comedy, emotional vulnerability, and her now‑traditionally impressive impersonation work during Sam’s annual Christmas possession. Episode 9 requires McIver to pivot quickly between goofy possession antics and grounded emotional beats. Sam is preparing for a high‑stakes national TV interview about her book, and the possession jeopardizes everything
