I mean, I understand somewhat of how the kids discussion tied in because of the big brother thing Deeks was doing. However, you're right; it might've been brought up a little too much. The episode a couple years ago where Deeks and Kensi travel to Mexico to bring back that teenager? The subject of Kensi with kids was brought up a lot, but it had great relevance to the case at hand. I didn't mind tonight's discussion but I thought it was a little too random for the case at hand.
I enjoyed where Kensi went undercover at the VA, but I was disappointed that they didn't delve more into her background. I thoroughly enjoyed her technical analysis but, with Granger and Hetty's comments, I'd have thought Afghanistan might've come into play a little more than in a passing comment. Did like where they didn't kill the guy and highlighted that the system, albeit with its troubles, had good intentions. I think they did well tonight overall but I wish that they'd highlighed Kensi's background a little more.
Before I forget, I loved Sam's input with the Marine and VA. Thought LL Cool J did an excellent job with the character and represented the military well with his performance tonight.
Nice episode. Did anyone else think that Kensi's looks were more than just being skittish at the prospect of becoming a parent? Like she can't have kids or she is already pregnant? ... I don't know, I just thought she always looked kinds funny
I think its good whenever the show addresses veteran's issues and I thought LL Cool J did a great job. I thought we were supposed to learn more about Kensi's time as a sniper though. I would give the episode a very good although not great ranking this time around.
I just don't think she's seriously considered it given her father died when she was a teenager and she left home and didn't speak to her mom for years. In her mind, what kind of mother would she be...plus the life she leads is not conducive to kids...so she's probably not as enthusiastic as Deeks would be. It makes sense given her history. I just wish they'd deal with it and move forward. It's par for the course of any relationship to talk about kids but they're dropped too many hints now...talk about it and move on.
Yeah, I think we can agree to that. I just think all this talk about kids, especially Sam's comment about "accidents" feels more like the foreshadowing they do in this show. It*s usually the same with Callen; they talk about his family in one episode and then a few later we'll learn something about about his background.
Gosh I hope not...they're not at the stage where kids should be a factor...let's enjoy their adult relationship a bit longer please...it took so long to get here, we don't need to add angst and drama to the mix... If I want to watch a soap opera, I would watch a soap opera. How about Deek's mother? We never talked about her and she was brought up a couple of seasons ago. Let's go that route and leave them alone:)
I thought they did a good job with Daniela's pregnancy last season but I don't know what they could do this time if she's pregnant again...no offense, but I don't want Deeks and Kensi to have kids.
Well, I personally don't think that they'll do something again to conceal her bump. If Dani is pregnant again, they'll make Kensi pregnant too - at least in my opinion. And I wouldn't mind a Densi baby =)
I really wish we would have an episode like that and also hope they reveal soon what, or if there is a connection between the IA investigation into Deeks and the Russian thing... Does anyone have any even a hint as to what it might be??
I don't think there is a connection. My guess is that the LAPD needs Deeks for a longterm (at least more than a day or two) undercover and they know that he'd decline. I'm thinking IA is looking for something to use as leverage to make him do as they say. But like I said I don't actually know anything
Do you think there's a possibility that Deeks will go back to the LAPD permanently? Or that he'll leave LAPD to come to NCIS? Read someone's comment that when Deeks chased after that nurse, he yelled "NCIS!" and that he's more than once described himself as a federal agent.
I also think the show's done a really good job of balancing Deeks and Kensi's partnership and relationship. Very few shows I've watched can separate the personal and professional like that.
If he's coerced into anything he'll resign after the job is done and join NCIS as an agent - at least that's what I'd do.
Yeah, they are balancing their relationship really well. In some episodes you wouldn't even guess they are dating. Though I missed a little chat between them after Kensi had to go under as Callen's girlfriend. But I'm still hoping that one of them will be in a really dicey situation just to see how (professional) the other is handling things.
I would like that. I don't know if anyone would else would agree with me but I think that Deeks fell for Kensi first and has been more open about his feelings for her and wanting the relationship. I mean, I think she loves him too but her holding herself back makes her a little more hesitant and vulnerable when stuff like this IA investigation might get in their way.
She's been distraught over Deeks before in a quiet way to herself but I think it'd be interesting if she really fell apart if she and Deeks were ripped apart... That may not make sense and may be mean of me, but I'd love to see her show some raw, open, vulnerable emotion like that.
Well then if you're being mean than so am I ;) at least we have company^^ Besides I'm the one who brought up the subject of possible angst. We got a bit of those raw emotions in the Frozen Lake episode with Deeks refusing to take the shot and Kensi storming the place ahead pf the agreed time.
And I agree.with you. Deeks realized it at any rate first that he fell for his partner - who is to say when who started feeling what (is that proper English? That sounds kinda wrong to me, but I'm not a native speaker).
I had forgotten about "Frozen Lake". You are correct about that. I was a little shocked at when she punched him like that, yet at the same time I was kind of expecting something like that to occur at some point. I loved the emotion and tension in that episode; I've been wanting another episode such as "Frozen Lake" since. However, I don't know if and when we will get such a "Densi"-centric episode any time soon.
You had it mostly correct. I think you might have thought of the phrase this way: "Deeks, at any rate, realized first that he fell/was falling for his partner - who is to say when who started to feel what/who is to say when either person that started to feel what?". At any rate, you speak/write quite well, better than many native English speakers I know. (I am from the American South; speaking correct English in some areas is like speaking British English - it is almost unheard of in some portions of the South.)
I hope not; I love that the show, unlike "Tiva", has finally moved the relationship forward but I don't think kids would be a good idea for "Densi". They're very in sync with one another, but they are also both two very independent yet private people. I think they do better it just being the two of them than if there were another person in the mix...
As one reviewer put it, the promo made it seem like it was going to be all about Kensi yet Sam ended up stealing the episode with the moments of him and the veterans portrayed. I love that NCIS: LA tackled such a heavy topic but did it in a way that, while it highlighted some of the problems with the current system, it also gave the whole situation dignity and respect. I think LL Cool J gives his best performances when it involves something so real and personal, but I would love to hear/see more about Kensi's sniper past. I may be missing something, but all I know about Kensi and snipers is that she was/is one, her father was one, and she is very good and knowledgeable in the skill. If I'm missing something, I'd love to know what, but have they told us when she was a sniper? I know one of the main reasons why she joined NCIS, but was being a sniper another reason she joined the agency? There's all this stuff that they give the audience that's great about character background, but sometimes results in more questions about (what I think are the) most basic details. That drives me nuts...
If I hear anything else about kids, I want it to be about Deeks' mother and his childhood. I was thinking about the season 2 episode with Deek and his best friend, Ray. We've had storylines about things from Callen and Kensi's respective childhoods, along with some about Sam. Thus, Deeks is next in line. But, I'd also love to see more about Eric; not Eric and Nell, just Eric. We've had more with Nell recently, being in the field and all, but I feel like Eric's been relegated too long in ops. I mean, has he been out since that episode where his friend was involved in a case?...
Well I thought the punch was a little too extreme, especially since Kensi knows Deeks background with his father. A (hard) smack to the arm like she used to do would have been just fine for me. One the other hand that scene felt even pore powerful to me because of that punch. And I loooved Kensi storming into that building and Sam and Callen having to rush in after her because sh didn't want to take any chances with Deeks life as well! :) I'd like another Densi-centric episode too. But I supposed we get one - or at least a Deeks-centric one - once the whole IA thing is more than just a side note. I don't suppose it has something to do with what he did in Afghanistan though right? Here wasn't really there on LAPD business.
Thank you. I'd like to think I'd get by in English but with sentences as convoluted as that I'm often unsure whether I expressed myself correctly or not.
So I'm guessing you don't use "^^" in America? :D And since I'm German I'd presume it's at least an Western European thing ;)
I'd really like it if Ray came up again. He is the one who introduced us to Densi's "thing" :) But you're right since then information about Deeks's past has been pretty rare. Kensi had her two episodes with the main focus on her and a few more where we just learned more about her; Callen's mystery past has been somewhat cleared throughout many episodes and Sam got more or less season 4 about his and Michelle's past ... The rest of the team, including Hetty and Granger, not so much. Besides Eric's background - and no I don't think he has been in the field since Ira was in trouble - I'd love to see some of Granger's, especially why Hetty genuinely wanted to kill him xD
I've never met any American who used that symbol (^^) in that manner. I've seen it used when someone is trying to write something with a power symbol, like in math (10^4, etcetera). And I didn't know that it was a non-French thing. As they say, you learn something new every day.
In some ways, I like Deeks-centric episodes more because while we know about his past, we don't know many details. Would love at some point to meet Deeks' mother but I don't know when that might be.
And the box...will we have to wait till the end of the series to actually find out? Though, according to some people's opinions, the end might come sooner rather than later, as NCIS: LA is one of a half dozen or so programs that may or may not be renewed (mainly because its ratings have dropped, bu I think it's because of the time slot, not the show itself that has caused the ratings decline). I've seen some people say yay, while others say nay. Guess we'll have to see but I'm hoping the series will be renewed...
Finding out about Granger and Hetty's connection in their past would certainly rank up there with character backgrounds I'd like to find out about.
However, I'm still for (firstly) finding out more about Deeks' past, and also just some Eric stuff. He's a quirky character. I like his and Nell's camaraderie, but as friends. That's it.
I thought I read somewhere that we'll learn more about the box's contents in the next season, even though it wasn't confirmed yet that NCIS LA will be renewed. But I strongly believe so ;) And I really have no clue what's in the box and that's bugging me. Especially since it was given fairly early in their partnership ... I mean what if Deeks would just opened all the boxes when Kensi gave them to him? She couldn't 100% know that he wouldn't do that, so I'm guessing it can't really be something involving their thing ...
Nah, I'd like it if they became more than friends too - but I'm a hopeless romantic so there's that ;) And I totally want to know what they eve have written on their post-it's :D
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Such a great episode. Really like how episode concluded without killing that guy.
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode!

ReplyDeleteMaybe daniela ruha is planning #2 IRL and the show adjusts to that? ;-)
