It was great episode I like that we got some answers can't wait to found out what Vera gift is and who the seven angel going to be wish they put this show on demand
I really enjoyed the episode except for Rose. I was expecting a lot more from the actress & her character being integrated with the rest.... but it fell really flat. Definitely still some structural issues but I'd say I'm a fan. And for sure a fan of Joshua. If I can just forget about his uncomfortable family drama he's the most intriguing character for me.
Do you have Xfinity? If so, don't look under The CW to catch it On Demand. Look for it under TV Shows By Title and it should be under the letter M for Messengers, The.
I just hope it goes up for sale soon on Google Play, as in, by the time I wake up in the morning. It took them 5 days to put up the pilot and I was highly upset, and I don't have cable, ha.
really good episode!!! the way Vera's son was taken was very weird, i wonder if it's more than just a normal kidnapping. Raul and Erin definitely, sorry but shipper here, Amy's so cute. Rose not so much for me, Joshua's actually an interesting character and Peter lost me in this episode. The Devil is definitelya monster
This episode was a huge improvement from the last one I am liking the storyline can't wait for next week hope the ratings rise or at least stay the same
LOL IKR?? Smh I don't understand them. And I hated the pilot. I was hoping this episode could change my mind and I can't even view it. I also heard there was a game on during Arrow as well. And I was pissed about that. I was really looking forward to those ratings. There's been games on all week. I hate when this happens.
As foolish and dickish as it is I get it. They renewed almost all shows I doubt they can support so many. Plus I liked the pilot (not a ton but it was interesting enough), but if it gives iZombie a better chance or any chance then I'm sorry writers, producers, directors, cast and crew of The Messengers, but if it helps iZombie, then I'm okay with the shabby treatment. Because that show is fantastic.
I thought this was doomed from the start so I have not even tried. It just seems like one of those type of shows to me. But I've also hated supernatural for a while so that probably does not help.
Need more Peter but other then that it was good. So no Scifi and Supernatural, its full on supernatural, well at least this episode anyways. Vera not believing was gonna be a thing, lets just let it all out at once and not show up again later lol. They just need to all stop being accidental pairs and instead actually work together. And not just have Peter just stumble on to the right place, have him do more.
Oh and Lucifer get dropped twice? shit how he go back up. And there is a 7th angel, idk myth but ok, I wonder who it will be.
I'm gonna be honest here, i haven't watched an episode of iZombie since the pilot. The episodes are just building up on my DVR and i haven't had the desire to press play and watch.
Loved the intenisty, nice storytelling and writing. I enjoyed we dig right into the action and that they didn't waste time. Loved the snark and disbelieve. Rose wasn't what I expected her to be.hoped for her to get more edge along the way. Erin and Raul have nice chemistry. Wouldn't be surprised if her kid was the 7th Angel? Enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. LoL when Joshua used his phone to ask where to play chess in a park. The way the Man manipulated with that solider was so enjoyable, he really pushed him over the edge. Great moments for Vera as well.
I like how random Peter is in this whole story, can't wait for the bigger part he'll have in this whole story.
All the kids may play a part but I'm thinking Michael (the blonde's kid) will play the biggest. After all there was an Arch Angel named Michael that played a big part in saving mankind from the Devil the last time he cast hell on earth (or so the Bible says if I'm not mistaken).
I liked it far better than the pilot; the pieces started coming together and there were little moments in which we were allowed to see some character's quirks and development while moving forward with the plot. So it keeps on building promise for what's to come, though we need some more fleshing out of the chararcter; eventually, they have to stop moving because of plot and they have to start affecting it through their choices, but so far so good
After seeing the first episode I felt quite indifferent towards this series and I wasn't really sure if I should continue watching, not because I dislike it or anything, but because I already watch way more TV series than I should. Anyway, I woke up with the idea of let's check it out, so I did.
This episode is quite an improvement compared to the first one, and I might even end up liking it. I was pretty biased towards Star-Crossed last season and started watching it only in order to make fun out of it, but I ended up really liking it and feeling bad that it was cancelled. The Messengers doesn't make me feel like Star-Crossed did about itself but if it continues improving I might end up liking it.
I really like it how Rose can speak any language. Raul and Vera seem to be good characters, and I'm kind of feeling like 'The Man' isn't even *that* evil to be considered the devil. Vera has the views I'd have if something like this happened to me.
it was good, though can see the shipping straight off, am hoping they dont ruin the characters to pander to it. Really liked Rose, hope we get to see more of her in action than being the oracle to her charlies angels. Vera is a little too sceptical given she was willing to kill for the devil. Wonder if they're gonna buy a bus and travel, or set up a spn base.
It's hilarious, extremely well acted, well written, well shot and has the best narration on TV. There's a reason it's so critically acclaimed and got a golden globe for lead actress. If it's not for you I get that, but it's terrific.
It was very very good. I wish they had done a 2 hour premiere though, this felt like something needed last week and it is only now that I feel the set up of the story is done. Looking forward to what comes next.
The pilot set out to introduce us to the characters. This episode, set out to explain the show's premise. (further proof they should have aired both episodes together, but digress...)
And now that we have all the information we need to know we can get started!
And Nikita was on Fridays for four seasons and was not even considered a veteran when it first moved there. The Game and Everybody Hates Chris all had established audiences before their move to Fridays but they were canceled. The reality block of ANTM, Whose Line and Masters of Illusion also kept the night relatively sane. Heck, even HOD actually improved its numbers during its final run over the season before and it only had half of what SV was getting in the timeslot.
So basically the night itself had a mixed track record of success and failure for the CW. The Messengers is their first scripted show originating on a Friday so where it falls in the track record would largely depend with its ability to self-sustain and grow its own audience.
To call Friday a deathslot is an understatement when other nights in the network didn't fare just as well: Mondays at 9PM (Life Unexpected, Reaper, Privileged, 90210, Tomorrow People), Wednesdays at 9PM (Hellcats, The Beautiful Life, every other show that followed Top Model), Thursdays at 9PM (The Secret Circle), Fridays at 8PM (The Game/Everybody Hates Chris).
I would not say I've decided it's a bad show. It seems decent enough based on comments. But It just seemed destined for cancelation so Id rather not start to enjoy it.
Okay, I read the series blurb and this episode woke up the person who knew what the focus of the story is. I'm good now.
This episode sealed my presence for a while. I still have a problem with the casting of Lucifer. He just doesn't seem to have the screen presence most of the other actors do. (Though it's not as much of a problem as it was on that Legion inspired series on SyFy.)
Loved the mirror shot where they could all see their wings. (liked the wing effect in the pilot too) However, that's the source of continued confusion for me. These people came back as angels but they're all still themselves; still flawed humans that kill. They all are still driven primarily by their human lives. I'm not understanding how that works. At the same time I do realize that without that element there's not enough story there for this to be a series...and those elements are also the elements that are getting me tied to the characters. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
You know what my first thought was, when they were talking about her son in the bar? I wondered if the kid that got the strength gift is going to turn out to be her son. Just a passing thought.
Well considering tis show is on the second episode, I doubt there are huge shipper bases yet, and the episode itself was written and shot far in advance of the premiere. But agreed.
was it just me or was the rythm of the story broken when they all ended up in the chapel? Up until that point, it seemed natural (if not a little coincidental) that they all ended up there. Joshua went to pray, Peter was basically squatting the place, Erin and Raul were trying to hide... Vera and Rose went there for no reason that made sense to the characters' story, but I could accept it because Rose definetly knew more about the Others and presumebly knew that they would end up there. But then she just says "you are the messengers" and goes on about the end of the world and suddenly it doesn't feel natural at all and I can't believe everyone is just standing there listening to that nonsense. for one thing, I feel like there should have been a bit more of an introduction before jumping right into the theology lesson. Aside from that, Peter, being a teenager, would have wandered away right away, probably with a sarcastic comment and a look of contempt. Erin and Raoul are ON THE RUN and they PAUSE to listen to the crazy woman in the hospital gown. Makes no sense. So we knoew nothing about Rose aside from the fact that she believes the end of the world is coming and everyone else should just get over themselves and take her word on it. I also liked Vera a little less in the episode. I felt like her comments to Joshua bordered on intolerance. Also, what was she going to do about her son? She wasn't going to go back to the Man who tried to get her to kill someone. After 7 years, if the only remaining lead is a crazy woman obsessed with religion that seemed to know the only other person with information about her son, why did she want to leave her? the only lead? It's not like she had anything better to do. I can't believe she was just going to go back to her meteors when she got the first hint in years that her son was still alive. Felt a little odd under the circumstances.
I didn't even hiccup over how they all wound up in the chapel. :-) but I think you make some really good points. They sacrificed a lot for the exposition dump. IMHO better writers could have handled it more organically.
Her baby disappeared 7 years ago? For some reason I thought it was a lot more.
Rose said: "It's een 7 years, have they helped you find Michael?" So her son is 7. also, he was way younger than Peter in the video Lucifer showed her in the pilot.
Yeah I had to watch it again to understand what she meant because at first I thought she was just talking about how she'd been a coma for a long time, then some random comment about Michael and I just thought "what does this all have to do with Vera calling the cops"?
I think the thing the Devil does with the flashing red eyes should be a once-in-while thing, not a once-an-episode thing, because it sort of diminishes the sense of doom and also the sheer creepiness of the act. I definetly think it's more than a normal kidnapping because the security camera was being repared and it happened 7 years ago, when Rose ended up in a coma. too many coincidences
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Fantastic episode - was great seeing all The Messengers together. Can't wait until next week!
ReplyDeleteIt was great episode I like that we got some answers can't wait to found out what Vera gift is and who the seven angel going to be wish they put this show on demand

ReplyDeleteBaseball was on. Couldn't watch.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was a huge improvement from the last one I am liking the storyline can't wait for next week hope the ratings rise or at least stay the same
ReplyDeleteIf the ratings happened to tick up even a tenth I'd probably pee my pants of happiness. haha
ReplyDeleteWell we were preempted tonight, so I doubt the ratings will go up.
ReplyDeleteFriday night death slot and preemption. Wow CW you really want this to succeed.
ReplyDeleteLOL IKR?? Smh I don't understand them. And I hated the pilot. I was hoping this episode could change my mind and I can't even view it. ReplyDeleteI wonder if the children have anything to do with it?
ReplyDeleteI liked this episode better than the pilot episode, the show has potential.
ReplyDeleteI would have had the Messengers running after Supernatural,
ReplyDeleteThis episode explains the main and secondary storylines, Its should have been a movie pilot with this episode as the second half.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't air it. Stupid baseball series. : (
ReplyDeletethat'd be creepy
ReplyDeleteI thought this was doomed from the start so I have not even tried. It just seems like one of those type of shows to me. But I've also hated supernatural for a while so that probably does not help.

Just seems at the moment they have children/teens with them or tring to find them.
ReplyDeleteLet's see if i agree with you.

The working together should start next week at least according to the synopsis.
ReplyDeletecool then
ReplyDeleteYou should.
ReplyDeleteEh, i'll get around to it.
ReplyDeleteSeriously it's great.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you haven't you should try Jane the Virgin.
ReplyDeleteThat's a definite no.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I'm going to say is---- Why does the cute guy have to be the devil? That just isn't fair at all. LOL
ReplyDeleteI believe you. I just don't care right now. But the pilot was alright.
ReplyDeleteAll the kids may play a part but I'm thinking Michael (the blonde's kid) will play the biggest. After all there was an Arch Angel named Michael that played a big part in saving mankind from the Devil the last time he cast hell on earth (or so the Bible says if I'm not mistaken).

ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteyeah when Vera came back to life, i thought when she said "Michael!" she had some vision of the ARCHANGEL Michael, not just her son

stupid baseball, it changed everything, for sure. I hope the cw renew it even for a summer show.
ReplyDeleteTrippy!
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda like Power Rangers, they're kinda complete but they need the sixth Ranger to make the pack whole. lol
You can always watch The Bible where the cute guy plays Jesus. hehe
ReplyDeleteSmallville and SPN fared well during the respective Friday runs especially during this time of the season.
ReplyDeleteHowever, had The Messenger premiered on its original date on the 10th, it would have probably had much lower ratings for the premiere.
I did not think I would like Jane, but it is an awesome series, very funny.
ReplyDeleteha, I have DishNetwork and because of a game several years ago, I also subscribed to the CW channel in Calif, so can get them 2 hours later. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis more along the lines of Heroes or Flashforward . more drama with the supernatural element.
ReplyDeleteit was good, though can see the shipping straight off, am hoping they dont ruin the characters to pander to it. ReplyDeleteThat's great... No it's not.
ReplyDeleteYou're missing out, but okay.
ReplyDeleteI'm good. But you like it so I'm glad you're entertained.
ReplyDelete= )
ReplyDeleteThose are not actually glowing endorsements when it comes to comparisons. But I will see if it's still here next season.
ReplyDeleteWell SPN and SV were veteran shows with established loyal audiences who could survive the Friday programming... so it's not really the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree... if they'd combined this episode with the pilot it would have actually been a better way to start the show.
ReplyDeleteThe pilot set out to introduce us to the characters. This episode, set out to explain the show's premise. (further proof they should have aired both episodes together, but digress...)
ReplyDeleteAnd now that we have all the information we need to know we can get started!

No point to it really, I think your minds mad up before u have tried it.
ReplyDeleteI think without a strong lead in show it could fall away uunless its really good in the ratings.
ReplyDeletekidda Voltron without the black lion.
ReplyDeleteIt's not pandering if there isn't a demanding base for it, and the writers have naturally themselves started writing it.
ReplyDeleteWell a seventh but yeah.
ReplyDeleteI would not say I've decided it's a bad show. It seems decent enough based on comments. But It just seemed destined for cancelation so Id rather not start to enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteThanks. That line just rolled right past me. I made up my mind when we saw the scene where he was taken and I just didn't hear anything else. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the 7 years idea you have. I hope you're right. Could be really interesting.
