As ABC and Marvel are prepping a spinoff from sophomore drama Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., I have learned that Season 2 cast additions to the mothership series Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are finalizing deals to headline the offshoot.

I was really looking forward to a Mike/Deathlok spin-off so I'll mourn the loss of that but I'm still really excited about this!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it'll be about STRIKE?
I would have preferred a Ward spin-off but I'm good with this too, Bobbi and Hunter are my favourites on the show right now.
ReplyDeletei can work with this looks good to me
ReplyDeleteMike/deathlok could still be part of the spin-off
ReplyDeleteTrue! Not giving up hope.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably end up watching this but given the choice I'd want more Agent Carter instead.
ReplyDeleteHmm i'm not sure how i feel about this. On one hand i'm glad they will be getting more screen time, on the other hand i really liked them both on AoS. I think i would rather have them on AoS on a permanent basis.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued, but not if it is to the detriment of Agent Carter.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news!!! I would definitely watch this spin-off. Love the onscreen chemistry between Adrianne and Nick (also sad that these two won't be in the original show).
ReplyDeleteYES! YES! A Bobbi and Lance spinoff is all I want in the world. Though I would miss them interacting with Coulson and the team (Thankfully they can crossover whenever they please). And I love that it's going to have a Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe. Order this to series already, ABC!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are saying that ABC should give Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and the spinoff all 10-13 episodes next season so they can cycle throughout the year. I don't know if that's the best decision but it may work in the end.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes and all sorts of yes! But I will really miss them on the main show though, both of them have become huge deals for me on the main show. But please ABC, do not axe Agent Carter for this. Air this alongside with Shield on the fall and keep Carter for midseason. Please ABC.
ReplyDeletei could see this working instead of having filler episodes settings things up like we have had this season will be moving more toward a daredevil type of method with 13 episodes
ReplyDeleteBobbi & Hunter are two of my fave characters, so I hope they change their minds and keep them on AoS.
ReplyDeleteYes! Sounds awesome! I might ditch SHIELD and just watch the spin-off!
ReplyDeleteI like their characters, but I don't think this is needed or it will work.
ReplyDeleteThey wouldn't do that though, it would talk too long to get them to syndication.
ReplyDeletei also like to add i feel 22 episodes might be a bit to long for season where some of the episodes feel boring at times
ReplyDeleteLOVE Bobbi an Hunter best news!
ReplyDeleteThey are two of my favs as well but I think that is a reason to be excited for a show that has them as leads. It is however bittersweet since I also don't want them to leave the main show.
ReplyDeleteI was so not expecting that, I thought It'd be Chloe Bennet and Luke Mitchell doing some sort of Inhumans spin-off. I dont know what to think about this I love Bobbi and Hunter but I love them because the fit in really well in the show.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having different shows with short episode orders, Agent Carter was great because of it's short season, I can't imagine Agent Carter working as a 22 episodes show and the new spin-off well have to see but it'd be happy with 22 AoS episode, 8 to 10 Agent carter and 10 to 13 episodes of the Bobbi/Hunter show and if it was all spread over the year it'd be great so we wouldn't miss our marvel dose when the hiatus come.
ReplyDeleteDeadline said that Agent Carter is close to be renewed and the decision to make a spin-off would have 0 to do with Agent Carter's fate.
ReplyDeleteThere are 28 Tuesdays for them to program with dramas. I don't see the time-sharing option really working in that way. Something needs to be a bridge.
ReplyDeleteCool, sounds like I'll rather watch this than AoS. Now add Ward and Deathlok and I'm sold 100%. Even better: retitle this to Agents of SHIELD and the mothership to Agents of SKYE
ReplyDeleteI don't think Agent Carter would work as 22 eps either, it's best as a bridge show. I don't see the spin-off lasting long with 22 eps a season unless the reason they leave coulson's team is to hunt down inhumans or something, they could easily stretch that out. Still though I think I'd prefer the spin-off to have 22 eps simply because I love the characters.
ReplyDeleteI love the characters too but maybe 22 is taking a risk, being honest AoS is not breaking ratings record so the spin-off already is kind of limited with 10 or 13 episodes with decent or Aos like rating maybe the show could last for more than one season but 22 episodes with mid-season break and some other hiatus may damage the new show too much but...If there is a contingency plan or deal to bring Bobbi and Hunter back to Aos in case of theirs getting canceled then I dont care about the number of episodes.
ReplyDeleteFUCK WARD!!! Bitch needs to die like the scum he is
ReplyDeleteI expected the spin-off would be about Bobbi. I'd rather Hunter stayed on AOS though.
ReplyDeleteBobbi is my favorite character of this season so I couldn't be happier!!
ReplyDeleteYeah but I love her and Hunter's interactions with the rest of them as well so I have strongly mixed feelings on this,
ReplyDeleteBut I love Hunter's interactions with the team.... I'm ok with Bobbi doing her own thing, but leave Hunter behind and take Mac, please, him I can do without.
ReplyDeleteYes, I totally agree. That i expected it doesnt mean I wanted it to happen. As I've made clear in other comments Im a big Skye fan but I dont want her anywhere else than with Coulson and the team ( maybe a little cameo on a movie but that's all)
ReplyDeleteSo ABC will finally ahve it's Adrian Palickis eries after the whole Wonder Woman fiasco xD
ReplyDeleteI REALLY want to trust the writers but this seems so risky!
ReplyDeleteOn one hand if they play it during hiatus the spin off would have more of a chance of doing well. On the other hand why create a spin off at all if you weren't going to connect it with the actions of the mother ship, in which case both shows would have to run at the same time, but then you'd have to be careful not to connect them too much so that viewers that only want to watch one can only watch one... All of it requires an exact balance...
It could work potentially, but it wouldn't be easy. Maybe it will be the beginning of Strike, we all wondered why use the name Lance Hunter for their character if it weren't for a reason.
It's a very bold move, I'll give them that, but lately it seems Marvel has been into those lately and the show runners would have had to consult the top wigs before doing anything so... I mean everything has been working out so far.
I agree with you, the connections she has with the team are a core part of her character and I would have hated to see that removed (though I think Marvel should think about something with the Inhumans, I've loved the storyline and the chance to dive into that).
ReplyDeleteAnyone that's reasonable would look at Season 1 and 2 and see huge improvement, and I'm betting that's only going to get more so and I'm looking forward to it.
I'm betting on Ward and Mac being in this too with the filming conflict.
ReplyDeleteSounds great to me. The two have great/unusual chemistry with one another and they are great fighters. But I will miss them if they leave. Hunter in particular because he's a funny character and we already have a badass/kickass female fighter aka Agent May. But Bobbi will be well missed
ReplyDeleteI guess I would like that. But that might be a problem based on when premieres considering AOS and maybe even the spin-off will have to connect/crossover with the marvel movies
ReplyDeleteOh my god....I was right with the spin-off being Marvel's Agents of The Real S.H.I.E.L.D.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Argh! Bobbi has great chemistry with everyone - May, Simmons, Fitz, etc. Keeping her and Hunter on AoS helps tip the scale from too much Skye melodrama to a decent action ensemble. And now they're going to take away the good characters. Thanks a lot Marvel.
ReplyDeleteCivil War cameo (although Brett starts filming a movie next month and Henry could have something we don't know about yet but this is what we're hoping for)!
ReplyDeleteWonder woman was on nbc
ReplyDeleteI love this. Love it. I can see Hunter and Bobbi again without having to watch AoS and Skye.
ReplyDeleteI just wish we could have May too but I understand.
I'll even love it if Ward comes too. No Skye/Ward drama.
maybe this is Secret Avengers? a superhero show comic character that is less known Avengers members that may not make on the big screen?
ReplyDeleteI was being naive to think they would go full power people type of show. I like Bobbi. Mockingbird has a interesting storyline but not enough to carry a series. SHIELD with all interesting plotlines still struggle to maintain audience, AC despite the quality also didn't bring result. I have no idea how they will make this spin off work with those two. This be SHIELD 2.0 and i don't think will work but i hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about spinoff is that characters get more screen time and they can do a lot of crossovers and they certainly will.
ReplyDeleteSince Mack was always on Bobbi side and great friend with both of them would make sense to move him in to the spinoff as well.
ReplyDeleteAs long they don't make the show too similar to SHIELD where you feel like you are watching the continuation of the other one it can work but like you said is really a bold move and i am not really confident. Aos is not really the show with wide audience so whatever they do got to be something different to attract more people to watch. AC was a good show and still didn't work.
ReplyDeleteTrue but thinking about storylines, a inhuman spinoff sounds more interesting than one with Bobbi and hunter because inhumans have their own universe and whole bunch of possibilties and i'm afraid they will make a pinoff about SHIELD 2.0. Agent carter is the proof the show is going to need to be crazy good to survive on ABC.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was hoping for a Bobbi spin-off.
ReplyDeleteThey are taking away Hunter??? And there is no hint about any super powered characters? Bobbi and Hunter's relationship is the least interesting thing about both of them. I want Hunter in AoS. He works very well here.
ReplyDeleteI loved Hunter on AoS,oh well,i hope this one works & doesn't turn out to be a failure like Agent Carter inspite of being as an excellent series!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't trying to be rude. Just stating my opinion
ReplyDeleteABC has been very accommodating with Marvel/Disney in the name of corporate synergy but there's no way they green light three guaranteed to be low-rated shows for their network.
ReplyDeleteI agree, an Inhuman storyline would be fairly epicI think dealing with Shield/Hydra/everyone else, hiding, powers...
ReplyDeleteNoooo!!!!!!!!!!! Why are they taking Hunter away so soon? I love the guy! I knew Bobbi would snatch up the spinoff, She's the MOCKINGBIRD and that episode with the flashback of the day SHIELD fell certainly helped.
ReplyDeleteI could see lots of crossovers with Agents of SHIELD so it won't seem like they are totally gone from SHIELD
ReplyDeleteSad to hear it. I won't miss Bobbi (they already have two, if Kara counts three badass girls), but Hunter was a perfect balance in this "we need to save the world from unfathomable dangers" story.
ReplyDeleteWard's NOT leaving SHIELD, he can't
ReplyDeleteI love Ward. He's probably my favorite character on the show but he has done too much to the "good guys" to be a main character on SHIELD again. If he is in the spin-off he should have more time to shine.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I like both characters but I was kind of hoping a show with some people with powers. Oh well i will still watch but I hope its not just these two and they add more people like mack and some new people too.
ReplyDeleteExactly that ;)
ReplyDeleteyay cool. We might see more badass love <3 and yay May won't leave Coulson <3
ReplyDeleteYep! That and the original AoS.
ReplyDeleteWell, they won't be gone, they can still cross-over all the time...plus, it's not like they are starting to film the new show tomorrow, they might do a gradual transition next season.
ReplyDeleteI'm so relieved that none of the OT6 is leaving but I kinda like the Hunter/Coulson thing. Definitely gonna check it out.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Hunter has so much potential and somehow he feels so underdeveloped same with Mockingbird. Adrianne Palicki has such a strong presence it will be good for her and for AoS if she gets her own show. Now I am really looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteWho knows...wouldn't be the first time that a spin-off is more successful than the original.
ReplyDeleteThat's what the movie will be for...perhaps they do a spin-off after it.
ReplyDeleteI think they would be constantly underutilized on AoS. Plus, they can always cross-over. Constantly.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the concept. Agent Carter works perfectly in mini-series per season format, but AoS is made for long-reaching storylines which are better told in a couple of episodes more.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought...
ReplyDeleteWell clearly the author of this article doesn't watch the show as the secret that Mack and Bobbi had has been revealed but I digress...
ReplyDeleteIf there was one bit of news that could deter my excitement for this spinoff, it was that it would include both Bobbi and Hunter, as I have found them to be the most tedious additions of S2.
If they're gonna use it as a bridge show, I'd rather have more Peggy instead (which since there was no mention of Agent Carter in that article again shows whoever wrote it doesn't watch Marvel shows so why the hell are they the ones reporting this?)
So fingers crossed it's indeed planned as something to run concurrently with AoS.
Also is John Riley working with ABC, or is he working with ABC studios?
Because if it's just the studio department and not the actual network he could very well be working on a new Netflix show, as those shows are produced by ABC studios.
If he is working with ABC though, and it's not the AoS spinoff he is working on, I can see them possibly needing a second bridge show just in case the spinoff does take off (as I think it will... 'cause I know I might not like Bobbi and Hunter but I do know I'm in the minority)... which would be great news for Agent Carter. And with John Riley being the big name he is I can see him preferring something with a more limited run like Agent Carter (and his current American Crime) rather than something that has full season potential. Doubt he'd be willing to make that long of a TV commitment.
Whatever he is working on I doubt it's Ms.Marvel though. Not because
Kamala doesn't deserve the love but because of the planed Cpt.Marvel
movie in the works (which yes I know it's a looooong way away and so not
the same thing. However there's brand confusion for non Marvel fans
that I think the company would want to avoid).
Their failed marriage is the least interesting thing about them!
ReplyDeleteHunter is at his best when he's interacting with either Coulson or Fitz.
And Bobbi is insufferable when she's around Hunter.
If the pickup of this spinoff affects Agent Carter in any way shape or form I plan to boycott it on principle, even though I tend to eat up anything Marvel serves with a spoon! And yes I know that's petty and childish, but the fact that neither Bobbi nor Hunter have really won me over, does help...
ReplyDeleteThat constipated guilty expression Bobbi gets when she is with Hunter and lying to him. smh. If that is the basis for the new show a couple who keeps secrets from each other and is unhappy about it then I am not interested. It would have been better if only Bobbi went away and Hunter visited that show once in a while.
ReplyDeleteI get what you mean but unless your a Nielsen household then boycotting won't make a lot of difference. I think Agent Carter will get another season, Marvel seem to like working with Hayley and using the character as much as they can - Peggy is also meant to turn up in Ant Man.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Agent Carter would be the bridge between AOS fall and spring seasons and that the John Ridley secret project would be the bridge between the AOS spin-off. So it could be that we have 2 main series and two mini. It would be insane and yet superhero/comic series are everywhere so maybe not too crazy.
ReplyDeleteAOS is locked down for another season - even if they wait till May to announce, so we are safe there.
ReplyDeleteunless your a Nielsen household then boycotting won't make a lot of difference
ReplyDeleteI know... and I'm not a Nielsen household (i don't even live in the States) but as I said, it's the principle of the matter.
(which if I'm being completely honest I won't actually manage to live up to, but still...)
Peggy & Co. deserve better, and are sure better than (sourface while pretending to be badass) Bobbi and Hunter (who's only in the last 3 episodes managed to prove that he can at least be fun to have around... if he's hanging out with Coulson that is).
Now that I've had more time to think about this, I have to say I'm not feeling too hot about it.
ReplyDeleteOne, I love these two characters being on AoS. Hunter has injected such a healthy dose of humor and charm into the show and is starting to develop a really nice rapport with some of the characters, like Coulson and Fitz. And while I feel Bobbi's personality isn't quite as well-defined yet, she too is likable and badass and I've enjoyed her being on the team. While there are still going to be crossovers, most likely, not having them on AoS regularly is still going to be unfortunate.
Two, like others have said - they're really not going with the much more sensible option of focusing on characters with powers/superheroes? That doesn't bode well for the show.
And three... I'd been hoping that if anyone from AoS was leaving for the spin-off, it was Skye or Ward. Skye because her storyline has become overpowering and is keeping other characters from getting their time in the spotlight (plus - an Inhumans spin-off seems like a more logical choice than Bobbi and Hunter), and Ward because I think he's simply unnecessary at this point and all the bending over backwards to bring him back into the fold is just fanservice.
Why not they do the same thing with the rest of their shows.
ReplyDeleteI think they can carry a new show for sure and I'd definitely tune in but a big part of me was dreading this because I love them so much on AoS.
ReplyDeletePlease please please don't make this the Moonlighting of the Marvel world.
ReplyDeleteStill, I like them being part of the "family" and I love Hunter's interactions especially with everyone. Maybe it will be a one season thing and they can eventually rejoin the cast. But yes I am being selfish and hoping this does NOT happen.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that would make this even better was if they manage to somehow bring in Sharon Carter.
ReplyDeletesounds cool but would they stay in AoS cause I like them in it
ReplyDelete
