SHOWTIME® INVESTS IN BILLIONS

Starring Oscar® Nominee Paul Giamatti And Emmy ® Winner Damian Lewis,

Network Orders New Drama Series Billions For 12 Episodes

NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 24, 2015 – SHOWTIME has picked up the drama BILLIONS to series for 12 one-hour episodes, it was announced today by David Nevins, President of Showtime Networks Inc. Starring Oscar nominee and Emmy and Golden Globe® winner Paul Giamatti and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis, the series is a complex and contemporary drama about power politics in the New York world of high finance. BILLIONS is written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean's Thirteen, Rounders), and Andrew Ross Sorkin (Too Big To Fail). Beginning production later this year, the series will shoot in New York and is slated for a 2016 premiere.

“The dynamic star pairing of Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis is matched by an equally exciting team in the writing of this show,” said Nevins. “Andrew Ross Sorkin, one of the preeminent financial journalists of our time, has joined forces with Brian Koppelman and David Levien, two of Hollywood’s most accomplished screenwriters, to tackle an incredibly timely and buzzy subject. With this caliber of writing and acting, I think the show’s authenticity and insider look will have great appeal to a discerning audience.”

BILLIONS is a fictional drama that takes an insider look at the world of high finance by tracking the approaching collision between two titanic figures – the hard charging, politically savvy U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti), and the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king, Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Lewis). Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad also star. The pilot was directed by acclaimed director Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Divergent), who also serves as an executive producer.

  1. With Damian in it i'm sure i'll be watching. I loved him in Band of Brothers, Life and of course Homeland!

Wishful thinking: I need Life to be wrapped up...Please,I beg you. Even if only a 2 hour movie......but i know it'll never happen. :(

  2. What a killer on screen duo, I've not liked many of the recent Showtime dramas but I'm willing to give this a go.

  4. I am usually not good and keeping track of projects in development in cable but I have had my eyes on this for a while now. I am so freaking in, easily one of the shows I am looking forward to the most, I love everything about this! The only thing I dislike is that it will air only in 2016. Hopefully winter and they don't make us wait until fall 2016, that would be horrible!

  6. I'm kind of annoyed. It's like they killed him on Homeland, let him run off to do a couple of other projects, just to come back and star in another Showtime series?! :p

I'll probably still try it though :D

  9. Lol! The writers could've kept him around for another season but the were in too deep to change the outcome or even want to change his demise.. Lets hope this show and Damian last for more than a few seasons! :P

  10. Hyped! What kind of surname is "Axelrod" though?

  11. I'm the same... Showtime shows in general rarely make me want to stick around. But this cast alone has me wanting to give this a decent shot

  12. Their shows usually start of well but then go on for too long (Weeds, Dexter, Nurse Jackie) or just fade really quickly (Homeland). They aren't as consistent as HBO or FX but definitely an intriguing enough cast!

  13. For me it's a general tone thing. Their shows don't hold my interest past a couple of episodes.
