I really love see my Winchester brothers together !!! :D ♥ But Claire... OMG she is boring and so stupid !! My poor Dean and Sam :( SAM I LOVE YOUR HAIR !! :P Haha Crowley and his mother, what a characters... LOL
Loved it. Poor Dean. He breaks my heart. Even the Claire storyline wasn't bad. Only thing I can't decide is who is more irritating Metatron or Rowena. Hate both of them and hope they both disappear soon,
Don't know about anyone else, but I LOVED Sam in this episode! Honestly, he's been amazing this whole season for me...I love when they show his snark...I've missed it so! Kinda wish Claire and Dean would have said something, but I like that the girl came to her senses. Dean was scary this episode but I loved it cuz I hate Metatron (seriously I want him gone, like now) and I think Sam is right, Dean's going to need to figure out a way to calm himself down before the Mark tries to take over again. Quite honestly, I don't care what goes on with Crowley and Rowena except when I thought Rowena was going to take the Blade, cuz nobody messin' with the Winchesters!!!
Biggest surprise - the worst idea didn't belong to Cas. Was that in my head or was everyone just assuming that Cas had the worst idea ever? Of course right when I started thinking that, we heard a worse idea come out of Cas's mouth, which was Dean reaching out to Clair.
And speaking of Claire, what exactly was that story? Oh, and Clair is Sam! She doesn't want anyone around her because they die, she wants normal, and she's surrounded by demons pretending to be her friends (I choose to believe hey we're demons because they made no sense otherwise).
Other developments - powerful Angels can now be restrained by handcuffs and devil traps.
Was this also in my head, or did it rain on Sam? And speaking of rain, why does it never rain on Supernatural?
Anyone else thinking that the source of the river might be Lucifer?
Crowley has a butler. Wondering what the butler did to be sent to hell. I long for evil demons again.
I'm so over Rowena. Why isn't she dead yet?
I'd add Dean reverting back to torture as another development, but did that really ever stop?
Eh . . . this episode was just okay to me. Honestly, I found much of it boring, there were only two decent scenes in the entire episode, IMO.
I loved the scene btw Dean and Metatron. I liked the way Dean threatened Metatron, and I liked the way Metatron taunted Dean. That was a good scene, and the actors played off each other very well. The second scene I liked was where Dean beat up those two people trying to kill him. I was honestly hoping he’d kill them . . . literally . . . just so Metatron’s wonderful description of Dean earlier in the episode would become a reality, but he didn’t. Oh well. When Metatron described Dean as a foaming at the mouth, bloodthirsty maniac (or whatever he said), I thought, "If only that were the case then this arc might be more interesting."
I am not a huge Crowley fan. I never have been. I like MS, but I cannot stand Crowley. That said, even I feel sorry for the destruction his character is undergoing. He is a such a pathetic loser. I can’t believe he actually listens to and believes his mother. I don’t know what her game is, but I’m sick of her. She is worse than Crowley. If I cared about Crowley, I'd care about her end game more, but since I don't, this story is not doing anything for me.
Claire - yeah . . . I just don't care that much about Claire. I hope this is the last we will see of her.
This show is such a mess, IMO. They started something mildly interesting w/the MOC, and we get Charlie next week?!?! Really!?!?! Way to break the momentum you (finally) built w/the MOC w/a silly comedic episode.
And is there a reason Sam is not keeping an eye on Dean. I'm just curious. If Sam is supposed to be so worried about Dean, how does Dean keep disappearing on him. In S6, Dean forced SS to tell him things and to keep him in the loop. He didn't allow SS to wander off, but when Sam should be keeping just as close an eye on Dean, we get nothing. Dean just wanders off and does whatever he wants w/no Sam in sight ever. I know Jared has a lot of time off but this is becoming ridiculous. Give him an active role in Dean's arc the way Dean has always had an active role in Sam's arcs over the years!
I though Sam and Dean were very good in this episode. The rest (even Cas), meh. This episode had a strange vibe to it, like nothing was real and this wasn't SPN. The only thing part that seemed real was Sam and Dean.
Claire getting her own scenes didn't surprise me, but I didn't return the point. Who were those people with her, scheming to get her to kill Dean - and why?? And what did the hate/ bonding scene with Dean accomplish? It was just weird.
Agreed! The scene w/Metatron was the best thing to come out of this episode, and it finally sparked my interest in the MOC. I hope they are able to keep the momentum though I am doubtful.
What makes it worse is that she's turning Crowley into a bumbling idiot. I won't pretend that SPN hasn't dabbled in that already but this makes it so much more apparent.
And the boys and Cas needed Metatron to send them on another cryptic, possibly interesting quest. I know the show in bring Cain back in 10.14 but I don't think that's the end of the quest.
Rowena does have some cool tricks, hexing Crowley and the spell she did to see Crowley meeting with the Winchesters. But she far too easily 'punked' two of Crowley's most loyal demons and that makes Crowley look even more idiotic.
I liked this episode. Getiing a little tired of Crowley's mom. The fake tears, I mean honestly, he fell for that??? He's supposed to hate this woman. Other than that I liked it, but I really don't care for Claire.
I have no problem with her impressive witch abilities. It's her personality, the cringeworthy comedic tone of the subplot, and her influence on Crowley that makes the whole thing awful.
No, I mean just a general hatred. He annoys me. I hear his voice and my skin crawls, no matter what he's on. However, my favorite scenes featured him BUT THIS IS WHY! I loved Sam's snark towards him, I was laughing at his sass towards Metatron for so long (plus I love the fact that they used the word "dickwad"). And the stuff with Dean was incredible. I loved the torture scene (feeling a little messed up) but I was cheering Dean on hoping that he would kill Metatron despite my better judgment.
Not sure what to think about this episode. It was good, maybe, but it was a typical Buckner/Ross-Leming episode in that felt ... off, somehow.
Good things: -Finally getting somewhere (maybe) with the Mark of Cain -"Career woman" -Rowena spying on Crowley and the Winchesters. Nifty spell. -Dean & Metatron -Dean not killing Claire's new pals. He's clearly trying, which is better than the last time the mark sent him spiraling downhill. The writers need to do a good job differentiating season 10B from season 9B if they want to keep our interest. -Cas busting down the door. Any and all reminders that Cas is still a celestial soldier.
Bleh things: -Crowley. I hope he's not seriously getting conned by his mum. He's smarter than that. -Canon? What canon? ICYMI, demon-binding chains and devil's traps restrain angels now, too. What happened to holy oil?
-Days of our Screwed Up Lives. I know this season is more about wrestling with family than wasting a big bad, and so far I've actually loved most of the episodes. But the soap opera is starting to get old, guys. Between Crowley and his mother issues, Claire and her daddy issues, and the boys and their perpetual and myriad issues (plus Jody and Donna and Cole and their issues), we're in danger of getting into "Bloodlines" territory. Not yet. But I don't want to see it get there. Shudder.
This was another very "Meh" Episode. Sam and Dean were just being well... Sam and Dean! It really didn't have much there, and Sam really was not useful at all! Poor Sam :( This show doesn't seem like it is going anywhere this season, you have the teen drama story, the Mark of Cain, and Crowley... whatever he is doing! Besides the Mark of Cain, what does any of this have to do with Supernatural occurrences??? Whatever happened to the good ol days where it was all about Sam and Dean chasing monsters, saving the world, and killing demons???? Now we have Cas's snooze fest of a story, as well as... well... whatever Crowley and Rowena are doing. Speaking of Rowena, she had a good introduction, but this episode she just comes off as annoying with bad acting to boot!. Please tell me that Crowley is not that naive or stupid, we all know he is not, so he better be playing her
it was a great return! I'm glad the Claire stuff seems to be over with for now. I liked that storyline, but the main Winchester drama is why we watch. The stuff with Crowley and his mom was interesting too. I can't wait to see where the rest of the season goes
Claire, Rowena, Metatron are now my 3 worst characters on the show ever. And the 3 is the same episode. Claire and Rowena are so badly acted, it is scary. I have zero interest in Claire, she gives nothing to the story, what the hell is she doing in such episode. I though the couple was demons but no just stupid guys wanting to kill a guy because a teenager is upset. Amazing Rowena makes me think of the mother in the adams family, she is ridiculous and I can't understand one word of what she is saying. Metatron still likes hearing himself talk but I don't. Why would Sam stop Dean from killing him, I was so hoping Sam would kill him for what he did to Dean. Anyway Sam was so useless again and the only scene he does something is stopping Dean from killing the douchebag. Crowley is the worst disappointment of the season. I think I said it already but it was very funny when he explained to Bobby how boring it was to run hell but he was right: It is boring to watch it. Cass is involved in all stories but for nothing. The scene where is ask Dean to talk to Claire was so weird. Misha badly acted here. He pushed too hard. Well it was very poor for me. Nowadays, I much prefer the standalone episodes where there is a real hunt. The mytharc episodes are going everywhere with too many characters whose storylines are too different. These episode are boring.
-Too much Claire, Claire whining, Metatron whining and too much of the Cas/Claire soap opera. -Too much splitting of the canvas. The scenes were chopped and edited so badly. -All scenes with Sam and Dean were great. -Dean vs Metatron was amazing. Too bad he didn't kill the PIMA. -Too much of a naive Crowley. He is Crowley, the King of Hell. Falling for Rowena's whine? Really. Disappointed in that.
Claire/Metatron/Rowena make this a never watch again episode for me. I will watch Sam/Dean scenes and Dean vs Metatron.
Everybody on the show must bond with Dean, I think it is a rule... No matter how much they have in common with Sam... Even when Dean is unpredictably homicidal.... It is still recommended for every character to get to know Dean...
I don't know but they were soaked!! Almost like they started the scene, had a flash rainstorm so they stopped the scene and then didn't have time to dry them so when the rain stopped just restarted the scene...
1. I remember once upon a time Crowley used to be both fun and a real threat. Now he is just parody of himself. 2. Being a hardcore fan of Cas myself, it's hard for me to accept, that his presence lately (although a bit increased) bringa almost nothing to the show. His appearances before might have been shorter, but they were meaningful ( or a least funny), HE was meaningful to the boys, to Dean and they were to him. Now I don't really feel any kind of deeper bond there. Not so many issues either - but well, that's to be expected where there is little emotional investment. And Castiels importance to the fans came from his personal ties to the Winchesters, not to some random plot developments.
If there was a poll about "Who's the most annoying character in SPN?", my vote would definitely go to Rowena. She and her storyline are absolutely nerve-wracking.
As for the episode,... well I didn't vote! It had its ups and downs, maybe more than enough downs, but the story progressed a little and it's good. Hope it was the last of Claire, she was actually fine the previous ep but this ep not. This show has proved they hardly can bring guest characters back w/o ruining them and annoying us!
I hate to say it, but everyone had bad acting in this episode! Even Mark and Jensen were terrible, which is saying a lot considering they are the best actors on this show. :'( Must have been a very off day on set!
I liked Rowena in "Girls, Girls, Girls," but she's becoming a soap opera villain in the mold of Angelique on Dark Shadows. She had a lot of promise, like Abbadon and Eve, but like them, she's not developing as a character. She's two-dimensional and no doubt she'll be killed off before the end of the season.
I agree on Claire as well. Her storyline in this ep served Dean's story, I guess, but it seemed like a lot of air-time just for that. She's the absolute worst judge of character and trusts anyone, which for a kid who was shuffled from foster home to juvie, you'd think she would have developed some skills at reading people.
I'm still hoping that Crowley is playing Rowena and waiting to catch her up in her own game. Still, his pathetic attachment to Sam and Dean is a little sad, but I guess it is in Dean's interest since Crowley is helping him out.
Sam was so useless again Actually Sam's talk with Dean about using his own power to control the Mark is what gave Dean the ability to stop himself from killing his attackers. I think we all would have enjoyed seeing Dean kill Metatron, but in Metatron's own words we know that it would have strengthened the power of the Mark even more than killing a human, and that is now something that would benefit Dean. In addition, Cas had promised to get Metatron back to Heaven. Yeah, the Dean talking to Claire thing was so contrived. Why would Cas suggest that the guy who just massacred a bunch of people and nearly beat an angel to death have a tete a tete with an angry spiteful teenager? And that point -- Dean meeting with Claire -- was the only reason she had a story in that ep at all. The Claire and Cas scene was such a weird ending for the ep too. I was waiting for another scene when the credits rolled. I was like, that's it?
What I can't understand is, if the boys were willing to ask for Crowley's help, why didn't they just ask him to stick rods in Metatron's head and extract all the info they need like he did with Samandriel and Gadreel?
Right? Claire is a terrible judge of character, but if that's the kind of father figure Cas is going to be, she may be better off hitchhiking and accepting the dubious kindness of strangers.
I think I must be alone in this, but it never occurred to me that her "friends" were demons. I thought they were just some pathetic Natural Born Killers wannabes.
Yeah, it rained on Sam and Dean, but not on Crowley. Weird.
I think Cain is the source because he's literally where Dean got the Mark, but Lucifer is the one who gave it to Cain, so ...
I liked Crowley's butler. Most of the demons the past couple seasons have been idiots, but butler demon was pretty cool. Sad about Rowena killing him.
I liked Rowena in "Girls, Girls, Girls," but they aren't developing her character. She's a two-dimensional soap opera villain. They did the same thing to Abbadon.
Yeah, no, Dean has been torturing for a long long time.
I haven't heard anyone else say they thought they were demons, so you're probably not alone. I knew they weren't because we never saw the black eyes, but watching it I flashed to the earlier seasons when every time you'd see random evil people plotting like that, they always turned out to be demons.
I think Cain's too obvious, and there's no way Dean's mark is disappearing before the finale, so I'm not expecting much from that meeting other than a lot of angst. Lucifer, however, makes things more interesting and his involvement would do a lot to explain those morally questionable choices Sam's going to have to make. But on the other hand, I hope they don't for a second consider reopening the cage.
I didn't like Rowena in Girls, Girls, Girls either. She's too cartoon-villainish for my taste.
Cain is obvious and I don't know that he is the solution to Dean's problems. There is the issue of Dean's deal with Cain to return and kill Cain after killing Abbadon. He hasn't kept his word on that, and it hasn't been mentioned. i wonder if they will pretend it didn't happen or address it in 10.15.
I have such resistance to any kind of Lucifer storyline. They've said that Lucifer isn't going to return, but that's been a while ago. I agree -- I don't want to see them re-open the cage. I have zero interest in Lucifer or anything remotely resembling End!Verse.
I thought that Rowena had possibilities in "Girls, Girls, Girls" if they'd have developed the character, but they haven't and won't. This is a pattern on the show -- Eve, Abbadon, now Rowena -- all female villains who might have been interesting if they'd been developed imo.
I really liked Abaddon and thought there was lot of missed opportunity. The problem with Eve was that she was too powerful from the start. The Winchesters couldn't realistically survive a single battle with her, so the writers had to resort to implausible cheats - like the lore talks about a Phoenix monster whose ashes could kill her. It was implausible on a number of levels: the lore would state how to kill a one-of-a-kind monster who hadn't been on earth in thousands of years and had never been killed before, that a monster that she had indirectly created would be the key to killing her, and that they'd have an angel on-call who could send them back in time to find the monster.
However, I loved the buildup before that with the alphas and the disturbance in the monster world (for example, monsters growing their numbers and organizing into sleeper cells in surburban neighborhoods). That was a more Winchester-sized mytharc.
We can only speculate. Cain said that Mark brings with it a great burden. He didn't say what it was and Dean didn't ask. Cain said, "You find the blade, kill Abaddon, but make me a promise first. When I call you -- and I will call -- you come find me and use the Blade on me." I'm speculating based on that that Cain will call Dean in 10.15, but what will result from that we don't know. Cain still bears the Mark himself. Metatron said the river leads to its source or something to that effect. Cain is the source of the Mark so perhaps killing him destroys the power of the Mark itself.
It was. I know a lot of fans hated S6 for one reason or another, but I liked it. I like film noir, and I thought the red herrings and misdirection worked well even if they did wimp out on making Cas truly villainous -- oops, pulled Sam out soulless. Riiiiiiight. But whatever.
I just seems as though the show has a pattern of introducing interesting female villains and then not developing and killing them in favor of a male villain's storyline. I'm not including Meg on the list only because Rachel Miner's health probably played a role in Meg being killed off.
Hmm. While the show is most definitely skewed toward more male characters, good and bad (and I think that's understandable given it's a story about rootless brothers raised in male-only environment), I'm not sure that I agree that female villains (or friends) are killed off sooner than male ones. Meg, as you mention, lasted, what, 8 seasons? Ruby lasted 2 full seasons, while Lilith and Abaddon were around for about a season and a half, which seems to be about average for semi-major villains (such as YED, Lucifer, Zachariah). Crowley's been there longer. Alastair was on less than a season. Of these villains, the only ones that come to mind who more than a very superficial exploration were Crowley, Meg, and Ruby.
True. I guess it's just that Abbadon and now Rowena in particular became less interesting the more I saw of them -- Naomi as well now that I think about it. She just had that come-to-Jesus moment before getting killed that made her slightly rounded. Kind of too little, too late. Maybe that's true for the average antagonist. Naomi is a lot like Zachariah without the snark.
What's annoying me about Rowena is that she reminds me so much of Angelique in Dark Shadows -- pure soap opera villain.I almost expect the same ominous music when she mugs for the camera.
Dean and Cain seem to be more or less equal since both of them have the mark. Dean killing Cain would be almost like Dean asserting his dominance. Even if Cain was Dean’s charity case, the mark might still take a stronger hold on Dean.
10x10 - The Hunter Games
Metatron: Surely you've noticed every time you respond, when the Mark gets you all twitchy, you fall deeper under its spell. You think roughing up a few humans and demons makes it worse? Try messing with the scribe of God, Bucko
Even though Cain is a Knight of Hell, killing him could be just as bad because Cain is very powerful.
And was Cain living for centuries with the mark as his punishment? In that case, killing Cain could be forbidden. Could the mark ever cease to exist or does someone always have to carry the burden? If that was the case, Cain would find his escape in death and Dean would draw the short straw.
y would they ever think metatron would help them? of course he wouldn't... or he would ask to high a price... i'm glad they turned him down. those kind of deals never work for them (they should have let Dean kill him and be done with the whole thing)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteIt was very strange how they were willing to kill a stranger b/c of a teenager's ramblings. That was just odd.
"career woman" LMAO
ReplyDeleteMaybe they needed an excuse for the punk angels guarding the playground?
ReplyDeletehate as in very evil character? or bad as in bad storyline chosen?
ReplyDeleteWhoever decided to saddle Crowley with mommy issues should be fired immediately. Other than that, this episode was passable.
ReplyDeleteThey wanted someone to push Dean's buttons and make him worse and thus making his current situation more dire.
ReplyDeleteI agree... so far Rowena is a unfunny, (bad) cartoon-level villain. I don't know why the normally savvy Crowley doesn't see right through her games.

ReplyDelete-Too much splitting of the canvas.
ReplyDeleteI don't know but they were soaked!! Almost like they started the scene, had a flash rainstorm so they stopped the scene and then didn't have time to dry them so when the rain stopped just restarted the scene...
ReplyDelete1. I remember once upon a time Crowley used to be both fun and a real threat. Now he is just parody of himself.
ReplyDelete2.
I didn't hate it, but I felt like I was watching at least 4 different shows.
ReplyDeleteIf there was a poll about "Who's the most annoying character in SPN?", my vote would definitely go to Rowena. She and her storyline are absolutely nerve-wracking.
ReplyDeleteAs for the episode,... well I didn't vote!
ReplyDeleteI liked Rowena in "Girls, Girls, Girls," but she's becoming a soap opera villain in the mold of Angelique on Dark Shadows. She had a lot of promise, like Abbadon and Eve, but like them, she's not developing as a character. She's two-dimensional and no doubt she'll be killed off before the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteI agree on Claire as well.
ReplyDeleteSam was so useless again
ReplyDeleteActually Sam's talk with Dean about using his own power to control the Mark is what gave Dean the ability to stop himself from killing his attackers.
ReplyDeleteDean reaching out to Claire
ReplyDeleteRight?
ReplyDeleteI think Cain's too obvious, and there's no way Dean's mark is disappearing before the finale, so I'm not expecting much from that meeting other than a lot of angst.
ReplyDeleteI have such resistance to any kind of Lucifer storyline.
There is the issue of Dean's deal with Cain to return and kill Cain after killing Abbadon.
ReplyDeleteIs the issue that if Dean killed Cain, Dean himself would pay a heavy price for it because he fed the mark?
ReplyDeleteHowever, I loved the buildup before that with the alphas and the disturbance in the monster world (for example, monsters growing their numbers and organizing into sleeper cells in surburban neighborhoods). That was a more Winchester-sized mytharc.
We can only speculate. Cain said that Mark brings with it a great burden. He didn't say what it was and Dean didn't ask. Cain said, "You find the blade, kill Abaddon, but make me a promise first. When I
ReplyDeletecall you -- and I will call -- you come find me and use the Blade on me." I'm speculating based on that that Cain will call Dean in 10.15, but what will result from that we don't know.
ReplyDeleteI just seems as though the show has a pattern of introducing interesting female villains and then not developing and killing them in favor of a male villain's storyline.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteWhat's annoying me about Rowena is that she reminds me so much of Angelique in Dark Shadows -- pure soap opera villain.I almost expect the same ominous music when she mugs for the camera.
Cada vez melhor!
ReplyDeleteDean and Cain seem to be more or less equal since both of them have the mark. Dean killing Cain would be almost like Dean asserting his dominance. Even if Cain was Dean’s charity case, the mark might still take a stronger hold on Dean.
ReplyDelete10x10 - The Hunter Games
