Melissa McCarthy, who was already in talks for one of the leads, has signed on for the Paul Feig-directed reboot, and the studio is now negotiating with Kristen Wiig, as well as Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Negotiations are ongoing but the quartet are expected to sign on as the specter-seeking, poltergeist-punishing and phantom-phollowing foursome in the reboot, which is eyeing a summer shoot in New York.

Hui! The Bridesmaids got desperate and turned Ghostbusters. Was a fan of the Original cartoon, hope they do justice to the legacy and do a great movie.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a solid cast, against all expectations this sounds neat
ReplyDeletethe movies came first, the cartoon later
ReplyDeleteBetween this and the Fantastic Four reboot trailer, today is full of bad movie news.
ReplyDeletelower your expectations
ReplyDeleteYea I know I'm not gonna be watching this in theaters. Rarely do with comedy unless a friend is paying.
ReplyDeleteNot watching it when it comes out.
ReplyDeletehmmm. Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteAt a certain point it becomes more prudent to avoid something altogether rather than to continue to lower expectations. With these two franchises, I believe avoidance is in order.
ReplyDeleteI can't stay away from franchises where I at least enjoyed one installment. Loved Spiderman 1/2 and forced myself through Amazing Spiderman 1-2; enjoyed F4 (really not that bad for what it was) so I'll watch the new one.
ReplyDeleteSame goes with the Xfranchise but I don't dare talk about it today anymore before I mention a certain actress again and lure her fanbase over
I had some mild interest since the original movie is a classic, but this casting news has erased any interest whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteWell, luckily for you, these are both reboots so any previous experience with the franchise doesn't count. Feel free to avoid them.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to know what I bitch about :P
ReplyDeleteSo, given this casting, it's basically going to feel like a two-hour SNL parody of Ghostbusters. Pass.
ReplyDeleteUgh...Melissa McCarthy is nigh unwatchable. This is awful news.
ReplyDeleteTalented cast, but I still think the all female concept is a terrible take on the Ghostbusters. Not everything needs to be changed.
ReplyDeleteIt's not gonna work. Period.
ReplyDeleteFirst this, now the talk of Chris Pratt (AKA the new Sam Worthington) playing Indy Jones. Good God.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not gonna be seeing this, I dislike all those actresses.
ReplyDeleteThe Fauxtastic Four (or should it be Fantastic Faux?) looks anything but good
ReplyDeleteEven if I think the role is all kinds of wrong for him, I may check it out on cable some day since I like Michael B Jordan.
I like Jordan too but I think the idea of bringing these "ultimate" storylines to the screen is a horrible idea.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I hate everything with Melissa McCharthy...
ReplyDeleteKate McKinnon being in this makes me so happy, she deserves wider recognition. Melissa was a given. I really love Kristin Wiig and have since she was on SNL. Leslie Jones is still hit or miss on SNL for me, she's great when she appears on update but relies on the same jokes too often in skits. I'll be interested to see them all together. Wish it was R rated.
ReplyDeleteOh dear god! I thought this was some type of joking rumor and I sure as hell wasn't taking it seriously, I can't believe they're serious about this.
ReplyDeleteMeh....will wait for Netflix on this one.
