Hopefully you'll enjoy being able to comment on the show live as it airs.
So let us know what you think during the episode and what you think of being able to comment on the show whilst it airs in the comments below.
Hello Everyone! Welcome to The Blacklist Live Discussion!! Tonight's episode is 'The Scimitar' and after the events of last Monday's episode, this week should be great!
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteTime to grab a cold beverage, some hot coffee, a snack and get comfy for The Blacklist Live Chat!
Aram is not going to like that Navabi!
ReplyDeleteHey! Glad you're here!
ReplyDeleteThis season has been lacking hopefully it can rebound tonight
ReplyDeletetotally agree!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe there is only this and next week's episode before the Winter break!!
ReplyDeleteI really liked episode 4. But it has been kinda off this season...
ReplyDeleteThose who 'abjure' violence can do so only because others are committing violence on their behalf.
ReplyDelete- George Orwell
Damn ;(
ReplyDeleteright?!
ReplyDeleteEpisode 4 was really good
ReplyDeleteLiz is so irritating :/ but as always Red is great
ReplyDeleteLol, Liz can be a little irritating at times. But I still like new Liz instead of Last season, old Liz
ReplyDeleteI think last year their Blacklister of the week format had some charismatic villains, but this year has not had that so far.... To be fair I think the show needs to find a better balance between charismatic COTW and serial mythology...
ReplyDeleteWell said! I think its important to note that they are not horrible, and it's entirely possible there is a connection between them that will make them more intriguing in the long run.
ReplyDeleteIf Liz lets him go at ANY time I will throw something at my TV...mainly because I want an excuse to buy a new TV, but a little because that would be the dumbest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteI think the case by case a week is hurting the show - I kinda would like to see try to go to a more serialized show which I think will help give the show more of a edge
ReplyDeleteLate to the party, but I'm here.
ReplyDelete*Nods*
ReplyDeleteHonestly I have enjoyed this year a great deal, but I admit it has not been as entertaining as last year ...
Hey! Very glad you are here! Welcome!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy to be here!
ReplyDeleteI love serialized shows more than procedurals, but I have always said that The Blacklist does the best job at harmoniously combining both aspects.
ReplyDeleteok, what did I miss?
ReplyDeleteI would love that, but I do not see NBC going that route.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest did it as well or better its first couple seasons I think, but it lost its way.
ReplyDeleteLiz is talking to Tom to get a name of someone. Navabi was a part of the cold open pretending to be some girl at a bar picking up a man named Kian. He invites her up to his room. Next scene is him falling out of the hotel to his death.
ReplyDeleteTrue but there case by case is hit or miss
ReplyDeleteWhatever to Berlin? There was so much hype and we haven't seen him in weeks
Red mentioned it, but not sure if he knows it was Navabi that killed him. (I'm sure he does though, :) )
ReplyDeleteOther shows, like Person of Interest started like the Blacklist, and now, they still have the COTW but with a more serialized component. Maybe this show will have that by the end of this season, or the next one.
ReplyDeleteThat's what's worrying I think it's been hurting the show
ReplyDeleteLiz is ok with a lethal outcome....damn
ReplyDeleteRight...
ReplyDeleteThat is kind of how the show works though... Hyping big events or people and then later revealing it was misdirection that advances the plot.
Berlin not being Red's adversary is a major annoyance to some people, but I suspected it from day one and love the idea of some mysterious clandestine group or character sending a madman after Red as a distraction!
Red knows she is hiding Tom...definitely
ReplyDeleteAram is hilarious, Lol
ReplyDeleteI want more Red he seems to have less screen time??
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the same thing! I think they are giving it to Liz...
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does anyone else feel like the blacklist portion of the episodes lately have felt rushed?
ReplyDeleteWhy??!!?? Lol
ReplyDeleteMore Red= better show
Yeah she questions herself and lets the immediately dangerous people live, but also is willing to kill those same people or others when they are not an immediate threat! Go Figure!! XD
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
ReplyDeleteI know it's weird
ReplyDeleteIT never a good sign when you see two people dressed in black on one bike is it? Such a TV and movei trope although I dare say if I saw two on the road next to me I would pay attention! XD
ReplyDeleteLol, that's funny! I think I have seen that on The Blacklist a dozen times, Lol
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the promos, but have they said anything about the key Red got form Pepper last episode?
ReplyDeleteYes !! It's feels like it just there for the purpose of having a blacklister
ReplyDeleteThis is why I hope they begin to go
Serialized
Hmm... is this "Doctor" our COTW The Scimitar?
ReplyDeleteA fake hospital room set or co-opted space?
Nice pick up...It seems fake...
ReplyDeleteYes, I was thinking the same.
ReplyDeleteGood call DarqueMode!
ReplyDeleteThere you go, fake!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they added a quota of underwear shots of Liz in her contract or something? XD
ReplyDeleteSeems like more this year in 6 episodes than the previous 22!
LOL, true!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing....not that I'm complaining,,,,Lol
ReplyDeleteSorry, typical guy thing to say, right?
ReplyDeleteI have to give it to Liz, she`s a quick thinker.
ReplyDeleteHi Zoe...
ReplyDeleteI think that his daughter
ReplyDeleteOR she watched The Walking Dead last night and saw Beth steal the scissors! XD
ReplyDeleteI think it's someone elses daughter...
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteWell, you have eyes, you watch her, I hace Tom, Dembe and Reese. :P
ReplyDeleteNvm he drugged her
ReplyDeleteLol...all yours...haha
ReplyDeleteJust like I always say...
ReplyDeleteNever drink food truck coffee!
Lol
ReplyDeleteMaybe Berlin daughter
ReplyDeletegood guess!...
ReplyDeleteThat's been my suspicion, yeah.
ReplyDeleteBut so hard to know with all the misdirection on this show
There is a lot of misdirection and I think we will get a lot more after the winter break coming up just because they will have more episodes before the season finale.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm Icelandic skyr!
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't tried it I recommend it!
Good episode so far!!
ReplyDeleteagreed! I like it!
ReplyDeleteMuch better but not yet as great as S1
ReplyDeleteLast year we had the midseason finale on December 2nd with episode 10...This year we have episode 8 and November 10th!!
ReplyDeleteWell, her arm was never broken , thats for sure
ReplyDeleteThe pain must have been form those pins making her think it was broken,...clever
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of inserting pins to replicate an injury and lack of mobility!
Yeah that was smart, right?
ReplyDeleteNice trick.
ReplyDeleteYep! That was something completely new to me!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think this episode is flying by?
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Navabi just got Red-ed....Reded...Redddd...you know what I mean...
ReplyDeleteRed always has his secret intel and hidden agenda!
ReplyDeleteI want at least a hint as to what the key from last weeks episode is...
ReplyDeleteGet comfortable ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! XD
ReplyDeleteLol, I know... I should know better...
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if it was to something or the Alliance or Berlin's maybe... A lock box etc
ReplyDeleteAll arabs aren't harry Blacklist!...Lol
ReplyDeletePossibly...seemed like a skeleton key...more to a room, maybe... I have no idea...Lol
ReplyDeleteFore!!
ReplyDeleteWell some are.. So are some Welsh and Indian and jsut about every other ethnicity I guess.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I don't have an irremovable sweater like that guy Ali! EEk!
LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteLol!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I'm enjoying it a lot more than most this season so far...
ReplyDeleteAlso, it is the penultimate episode before the Midseason Finale next week, so they have to setup the big twist for the break...
God this FBI is always a step behind
ReplyDeleteI think The Blacklist will return January 12th or 19th? Not sure... I will have to look that up later...
ReplyDeleteHello Red i nwaiting...
ReplyDeleteFeb 6
ReplyDeleteOne of the faults of so many shows liek this. They make the agency so inept that when they actually do something with skill its hard to believe! XD
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! So we have to go form November 10th to February 6th without any Blacklist??? Ouch
ReplyDeleteOh c'mon I'm sure Katherine Heigl's show will fill the void! XD
ReplyDeleteToo long!
ReplyDeleteState of Affairs?
ReplyDelete"Personally I make it a habit to avoid habits" - Red has the best lines, Lol
ReplyDeleteQuote of the night!
ReplyDelete"Personally I make it a habit to avoid habits!"
Lol, Great minds think a like?
ReplyDeleteThat was a weak slap!
ReplyDeleteThe actor that plays the Scimitar reminds me of Stanley Tucci a little...
ReplyDeleteI can see that, yeah
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was thinking "punch him!"
ReplyDeleteMontage time!
ReplyDelete"Bleeding Muddy Water" by The Mark Lanegan Band
ReplyDelete"...Lord, now the rain done come..."
ReplyDeleteYOU DONT GET TO MAKE DEALS TOM!!
ReplyDeleteSorry everyone, I didn't mean to yell...
Red probably would drug how own daughter if he wanted to.
ReplyDeleteLove montage time...
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bV0siqsqFc
ReplyDeleteThis episode reminded me of season 1.
ReplyDeleteHere's yer daughter , Berlin.
ReplyDeleteNow can we talk? XD
Did everyone hear that...what Berlin just said about Red's daughter?????!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHuge reveal wow.
ReplyDeleteawesome!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes but I think Berlin meant Jennifer and did not know it was his daughter..... Another misdirection! XD
ReplyDeleteWell, there you go everyone!!! It's Berlin's Daughter!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought they would wait until next week for that honestly!
ReplyDeleteWow.
Thank you everyone for joining us tonight! I had a great time just like last week! It really was a lot of fun! Please vote above when you have a moment!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't expecting that, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I have a new suspicion...
ReplyDeleteWhat if Tom work's for Red's true adversary and went to work for Berlin as a plant/ double/ triple agent?
Also, be sure to check out my post tomorrow morning so you can vote on your favorite scene from tonight's episode!!! And be sure to check out my Review of this episode of The Blacklist, which I will post within the next 48 hours!!!
ReplyDeleteThat would make for one convoluted and complex story line... I love it!
ReplyDeleteLOL that's twisted!! So....maybe?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to chat live!
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! Thank you for participating!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same...
ReplyDeleteYes you are correct... I jumped the gun...Lol
ReplyDeleteWell, everyone I am going to sleep, have a great night! See you all tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again! :D
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! Really, I had fun!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Actually, I'll have to watch the episode again, I missed some things because I was spending more time here :P
ReplyDeleteLol, me too, I was thinking the same thing...
ReplyDeleteLol, I Shazam'd it...
ReplyDeleteLiked it. Very twisty and with some answers.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see Navabi getting action, Ressler's breakdown not being totally ignored and Tom again on the screen. I must confess, I didn't think Zoe was Berlin's daughter, to be quit honest.
Gotta give props when it's due, great episode. Next one looks intense as hell.
PS- A lot of skin in this episode, right? Haha.
Lol, yeah, a lot of skin...
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's NBC's solution to November Sweeps!
ReplyDeleteJust imagine all your favorite NBC stars in their lingerie... Ack!! XD
I agree. This was the best episode this season so far. I have a feeling the fall finale and superbowl episodes are going to be crazy good.
ReplyDeleteAnyway the Blacklist still has less skin than the average ABC'S drama.
Loved the episode!
ReplyDeleteWe had our share and then some of twists and turns, Red showing his omniscient side lying in wait for the Scimitar, Liz's Spidey-senses going off in the pseudo-hospital, Ressler admitting he had a problem, Navabi getting some quality scene time, and of course the Red's big "bomb" as the NBC promotion team put it. Jennifer is Berlin's daughter.
Honestly I was not surprised by too much of it, but I think it was an awesome episode anyway!
Oddly the Disney owned ABC has more skin than most networks...
ReplyDeleteThankfully the other networks make up for the lack of skin with more time spent on the story and not love triangles! XD
Yeah, it was really good. I have high hopes for the next three episodes, this one left me a good taste and I'm trusting on the people who made Anslo Garrick (the longest anxiety attack I've had in my life).
ReplyDeleteThat's why it surprised me, we're not used to see it here. Not that I'm complaining, though.
Best episode so far, and next week's will be even better.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I missed a few, but I could count SIX ads for State Of Affairs during the night (the one where they compare Tucker with Reddington was GOOD, I must say). NBC is all in with this one.
ReplyDeleteIt will be hard for the series to top the tow Anslo Garrick episodes!
ReplyDeleteThey were phenomenal! Two of the best episodes of any series on TV last year!
The story was brilliant and the guest stars were brilliant!
Alan fricking Alda!
Richie Coster was incredible as Garrick!
As much as I think it will bomb, NBC is surely working their promotional asses off for State of Affairs!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's gonna bomb, but I'm watching. They hyped the hell out of it. I'm IN.
ReplyDeleteThe show is still trying to find the right balance between procedural and serialized drama, but this episode was a huge improvement in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful that the writers will close up all of the loose ends next week so that the series can start completely fresh with all new story arcs for the superbowl episode.
That episode should have gotten a James nominated for an emmy it was so good.
ReplyDeleteThus season has been a little weaker than last season but I still enjoy the ride! Megan Boone has improved immensely since last season as an actress!
One of the best episodes of this and last season. Very cleverly plotted. The only bits that were off were the scenes twixt Tom and Liz-- there is not the undercurrent there between them that should be.
ReplyDeleteI think the Berlin Arc will end then or soon after maybe, but the rest of the "loose ends" will probably stay well.. loose. XD
ReplyDeleteI can't see then giving away who Red's true nemesis is or his relationship to Liz any time too soon.
Next week the Tom and Liz thing will certainly heat up.
ReplyDeleteAll of the ads for SOA have been really good. I think the constant promotion for the past 7 weeks of the TV season will pay off.
ReplyDeleteMmm, yes. They could go with an all new arc, or end the fall with a massive cliffhanger like Liz kidnapped, Tom escaping, someone from the FBI being wounded/killed, Red not knowing something, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually excited.
Tom needs to escape to Red needs to officially find out about him!
ReplyDeleteThe dynamic between Liz and tom is not nearly as fun as last year since tom is powerless right now. He needs to have leverage to make it more interesting I think.
that had to be one of the best episodes so far this season! and it seemed kinda 24ish in a few spots lol ;) (*SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET SEEN IT*) does the fact that the Jennifer girl ended up NOT being Red's Daughter after all (But BERLIN'S!) Just Confirm That LIZ Is Red's Daughter? And I Can't Wait For The Next Part Of Liz Vs Tom...Now THAT'S Gonna Be Explosive!
ReplyDeleteI don't expect any insight into the Red and Liz thing but I do expect a lot of closure next week so that they can reset the series in time for all of the new viewers and eyeballs that will watch The Blacklist after the superbowl for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Tom might escape.
ReplyDeletePersonally i think the writers are too clever or atleast have shown that to go with the obvious of Liz is Red's Daughter. In all serious who saw Jennifer being Berlins daughter ?
ReplyDeleteI agree Tom escaping would be good for the show. I don't know if he would end up with Redington or with another more evil tycoon.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a smart move!
ReplyDeletePlus, honestly... this year so much has been made of Red's daughter being off the grid since 1990, I would find it hard to believe that Liz is Red's daughter now. Especially after Naomi met her and talked with her etc...
Liz would have to be brainwashed in a false identity like some Manchurian Candidate plot for it to work at this point. Not impossible - hell, it may even be fun to see that play out - but I find it more implausible as the series goes on.
I guess maybe there is more of a possibility of tying things up than I thought! XD
Red would just Kill tom IMO so him escaping and going to red would do nothing but i do agree that tom needs some kinda leverage
ReplyDeleteStupid spellcheck changed my tpyo "ot" to to not "or" ...
ReplyDeleteAlthough Tom going to Red's side could be a fun twist!
I agree.
ReplyDeleteI think Noami not recognizing Liz lowered the chances of Liz being Red's daughter. At least for me.
I can still see a few ways it coudl work, but the longer it goes on and the more backstory and mythology that comes out, the harder it gets for Liz to fit in as Red's daughter.
You are probably right. I just would have expected a more highly charged ( even sensual) feeling in the room when they were together. Maybe it was the beard -- his facial expressions and eyes looked emotionless and she looked implacid. The two together should have crackled.
ReplyDeleteNaomi did say "I completed my part of our agreement, never said a thing about you or Elizabeth," though.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she knows who the hell is Lizzie's father or something and Red made her keep the secret in exchange for freedom, I don't know. The main plot is really twisted at this point.
True.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to judge the statements people make on this show because of all the misdirection and the fact people often sya things out of context of completely not related to the discussion! XD
Like when Liz and Red were discussing his wife and daughter, Red interrupted and said "Jennifer" to Liz.. Most people took that as Red saying his daughter's name was Jennifer, but once again Red was just steering the topic to what was on his mind, the girl named Jennifer that he was looking for! XD
He does that so often with Liz and the task force!
Sometimes they entirely talk past each other ignoring what the other person has said!
Awesome episode, but...........WHO, WHAT, HOW? Ok, I need to go in on this one again because there was a lot going on this episode (No Spoilers)! Maybe Red doesn't have a daughter, but a son named Jack who protects America and saves the world in just......................................."24 hours" (lol)!
ReplyDelete4 RED'S TOP TEN LIST, I am still Nobody!!!
A really good episode. That ending creates even more questions.
ReplyDeleteso zoe is berlin's daughter huh that was insane and liz what ARE you going to do, she is definitely more like red in how she's dealing with tom
ReplyDeleteAgent Keen has one of the best as**s in the business!
ReplyDeleteTotally shocked at the end there...absolutely SHOCKED! I really thought that was his daughter. Dang it! Now I have to start all over again searching...!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode and awesome ending.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't because after all with The Blacklist we have learnt that nothing is as simple as "this is my daugher come and kill her".
ReplyDeleteIn what sense? It seems to me that the show is better than ever, taking very seriously its premise.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun episode. It was nice seeing more from Navabi, and I loved all of Liz and Ressler's scenes...skin included ;) Not happy with Tom though. He's not that evil this season.
ReplyDeleteIf this was ABC Tom and Liz would be making out in the basement!
ReplyDeleteI thought the show jumped the shark last year...
ReplyDeleteThe terrible Carter death scene and adding so much over-the-top omniscient and omnipotent Root to the show. Season 3 was by far the worst season to me.
I think the producers even know they lost their way since they course corrected so strongly so far in Season 4.
Or trying law cases together.
ReplyDeleteRight, Tom come across this season as flat and not adding to the edginess his scenes with Liz should have. Almost, whiny.
ReplyDeletePretty good episode overall but someone, anyone, needs to kill Tom.
ReplyDeleteOh, ok, I could agree with that. I thought you referred to the current story arc
ReplyDeleteInitial reaction: much, much better than last week. More comments later.
ReplyDeleteNo I actually like the story... Just not the execution.
ReplyDeleteI find the concept of two dueling AI machines and everything that brings very interesting! I like how Season 4 started off a lot as well. The new jobs add a new dynamic as well.
I just honestly dislike the Root character so, so very much. This season has not been as bad since she at times cannot hear the Machine... She's not all-knowing and able to do any task without breaking a sweat. This year Acker has been underplaying Root compared to the heavy-handed over-the-top Root of season 3.
Great episode. Lots of twist and turns. Very exciting. I like that Zoe turned out to be Berlin's daughter. Looking forward to this possible alliance between Berlin and Reddington.
ReplyDeleteI would love it if Liz ended up being Red's daughter after all. I could them going the route of Red saying he's not her father, because he doesn't feel he deserves to be, or maybe since she was raised by someone else. It could be due to multiple reasons. But, if they were still biologically father and daughter, it would be more rewarding story-wise, for me.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check out this Monday's "Live Discussion" of The Blacklist! It's the Midseason Finale and episode nine will not air until February 6th! So get you fill of The Blacklist and participate Monday at 10PM EST here on SPoilerTV.Com!
