That was amazing and definitely one of my favorite pilots! The switching between past and present was a little confusing but I got it figured out near the end.
OMFG, STV Guy was right about that twist in the end! And here I thought after that look Annalise and her husband exchanged after she said "I bet the boyfriend did it." would put her in jeopardy in a parallel situation in the future. GEE! Chills. The show is all that it was hyped up to be, so riveting and Viola Davis is AMAZEBALLS, so hypnotizing! Found my new obsession. I think out of the 3h premieres block tonight I surprisingly liked HTGAWM the most! It was refreshing.
Ha, yeah, I got confused near the end as well (since I was switching between tabs, lol), with Annalise's husband's student murder, I thought it was the one 3 months later and somehow the body got dumped at Wes' place by the neigbhor (played by Carrie Diaries' Maggie's portrayer btw - quite a makeover!)...Definitely gonna be rewatching it tomorrow!
Woah, this pilot was insane and definitely one of the best this season so far! Viola Davis stole every damn scene she was in. What a perfect actress to play this role. I can't wait to see the events leading up to Annalise's husband getting killed. Should be very interesting to watch. Also, all of the law students were surprisingly great. I was impressed by them (especially Wes). I think I'm already obsessed with this show. Can't wait for next week!
If the writing holds up this series will be a solid hit. With the suspense of a murder trial and all the characters "into something (or someone)" 44 minutes of "must see TV" on Thursday nights is here! This pilot was "great" to say the least (maybe the best all year), but Viola Davis' performance made it "AWESOME"! 4 A MURDER FREE TRIAL, I will be Nobody!!!
I practically had a stroke watching this because my brain couldn't handle the sheer awesomeness it was being exposed to. This is the best pilot I can remember watching.
Haven't seen it yet, but like I wondered before. Does Someone Get Away with Murder? No matter the answer will be watching it Sunday on my TvShow Club. with my friends.
From the beginning, I was very much in doubt about this show. But the pilot was very solid, well executed, etc. And Viola is totally worth the watch, so I'll be sticking around to see what happens. I think they have good material for at least one season and the storyl will probably be interesting.
That, was riveting tv, a few times I had to remind myself to breath, perfect cast lead by the awesome actress Viola, all I can say is holy shit Shonda has done it again, that was indeed a wild ride, looking forward to the rest of the season!!!
This is a great start! i liked how the FF to a main event and i would sure love to see how and why is the husband dead. I actulallly thought it was the bloond woman, she sure is having a affair with him.
The remaining episodes are going to be quiet the ride I'm guessing.
I predict that it will turn out Wes ... aka ... 'Seth' is the child Annalise Keating gave up for adoption 20+ years earlier so she could finish law school and focus on her career.
- That was a really great pilot. I was a little wary about the premise at first because it seemed contrived that Annelaise's students all just happened to be involved in a murder but now that I know who the victim is, I don't much of an issue with it anymore. - Those were totally crocodile tears when Annelaise confined in Wes, right? I just can't see her open up like that to a student, let alone someone she's only known for a few days. There are so many sides to her character, I don't know which one to believe. - So Laurel is involved with Frank. Didn't see that one coming.
Awesomeeeee! Really great first episode! Besides some Annalise moments it was really great in all departments. The whole time I was thinking were Katie Findlay's character would fit in and I enjoyed her so much. I thought the victim would either be Frank or Bonnie or Asher, but never thought it would be Annalise's husband. Shondaland out done themselves here.
This pilot was INSANE. Viola Davis was so intense. Dynamic writing, brilliant direction and photography, and decent acting by the younger actors. Must watch.
Best pilot I have season so far. Characters were great, story was gripping and the pace was high speed . I am in for the season. The style of story telling reminded me a lot of Damages, which I loved.
I thought it was a BIT all over the place, but overall a very strong pilot. I absolutely hated the first season of Scandal and that grew into a big guilty pleasure (S2 was especially strong) so I've got high hopes for this. Viola Davis was great and I think it'll get stronger as the season progresses and we get to know these characters more. I'll be back for more..
After sleeping on it two thoughts / questions came to mind.
1) Does Annalise have some sort of a mental illness such as Bipolar /Multiple Personality Disorder ? ( all the subtle weirdness she displayed through out the episode like 'rubbing' all over Wes, sleeping with the cop, and balling then looking all devilish )
2) Will the shocking twist come the season ones finale be that Annalise was the one that committed the 'murder'. ?
Oh, there's an idea. Though, if that's the route they go, considering the way she was rubbing her hands all over Wes when they were talking, that could prove to be an...interesting...mother/son relationship.
Totally crocodile tears. She's manipulating the hell out of Wes and the other students in general. She terrified me in those classroom scenes-god help anyone who's on the receiving end of HER criticism. And yet, she's such a fascinating character that I'm very interested to see what craziness she comes up with next. At the end, when she was talking to her husband about that murdered girl and saying, "I bet the boyfriend did it.", I wondered if the two of them weren't in on that murder together, and then she killed her husband to make extra sure he never blabbed. And now the students are cleaning up her mess.
Not bad, but I won't be watching again I don't think.
I thought the story was pretty good (even if I've seen a few similar movies), but the performances were very uneven. Viola Davis was great as expected, but the students were all over the place. The performances of the actors playing Wes and Conner being the worst. Plus, I'm not a fan of law shows generally or Shonda Rhimes projects. Even if they start off interesting they all turn into soap operas quickly
That said, I predicted before it aired the show would be a hit for ABC and nothing I saw changes my opinion.
It's called that because that's what she calls the class but I don't see them getting away with it they might not get put in jail since it's a tv show but I'm sure some people will find out.
Holy crap. This was one of the best pilots I've ever watched and by far my favorite of the year so far. I loved this so much. I can't wait for the next episode. All characters/ relationships/ storylines are very interesting!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Holy shit, that was one of the best pilots I've EVER watched.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite pilot this year !! A M A Z I N G

ReplyDeleteWow this was really one of the best pilots I ever seen. I can't wait for the rest of the episodes.
ReplyDeleteVoted for good. A little all over the place. The twist at the end was great though.Viola Davis is absolutely terrific. I'll keep watching for now.
ReplyDeleteLove it!

ReplyDeleteI'd prefer less art and more show ALTHOUGH it appears next weeks show was tied up in the art.
ReplyDeleteThis is my new addiction!!! One of the best pilots I've seen!

It's only the first episode.
ReplyDeleteI found it over the top and way, way too dark. There's only one somewhat earnest character. Everyone else is pretty reprehensible. Blech.
ReplyDeleteAh I see the type of show it is. Should be fun then.
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing. The best pilot I have seen this year , by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting theory! Hadn't thought of that.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. Ok, now I like two new shows. HTGAWM and A to Z. Can't wait to see Stalker.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Pilot. So far this season is off to a good start with new shows!
ReplyDeleteThis was really gripping, the acting was of a very high standard too. Hope they can keep this up!
ReplyDeleteThat'd be so cliché
ReplyDeleteWOW. That was one amazing pilot. It definitely lived up to my expectations and then some.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for next week.

This is the first crime tv series that I don't feel like I saw tv series but saw a movie! I am so excited what it is going to be next on EP02!
ReplyDeleteThis is not the body you are looking for............
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Seriously? I did NOT expect him to be the body! Awesome
Not bad, but I won't be watching again I don't think.
