My least favourite episode of Season 8 so far but it was still very good ! I think Danny was a bit annoying at some points but I laughed so hard when he called the Doctor "Space Dad" :D
Awesome episode, almost everything I expected from this episode, the reactions of the Doctor and Clara. Loved it when the Doctor mentioned the "play" when they were revealing the secret, and that shock on him when she said the bow tie teacher wasn't her type lol. that was pure gold.
I personally liked the Doctors reaction to Danny, I was kinda expecting something similar following the "into the Dalek" episode and last few episode where Clara's was still hiding Danny from the Doctor, like it was something to hide. And for Danny while he was on the TARDIS following hearing the Doctor be a Time Lord taking it as a officer class, his response was a bit naive, but I too get why. He simply didn't know enough. -in the future she maybe want to tell him about the Doctors feats, and such, the things he has done, his long age. I mean if she can tell Robin Hood, surely she can tell Danny. And now that the dislike/argument came to a mutual understanding at the end. I do hope Danny doesn't interferer as much anymore. Tho I fear it will. Danny made me miss Rory.
That Promised Land at the end. Well what do you know, there is a system to it, that changes thing much.
Next up the Moon. Should another cool episode. Last time on Moon was in the Ep "Smith and Jones" but there was a whole bunch of people. Seems like tho this episode will be a bit like the ep "Waters of Mars". Even the base looks similar(sample Included), I wonder what came first, hope next ep gives Year.
Got to say I'm surprised by the positive reviews for this one. Found it mostly boring and lacking something... enjoyed the final scene with the "Heaven" but that's about it
I have a feeling she might be a gonna next week, being eaten by a space spider could be a fitting end for annoying teenager who's a disruptive influence, lol.
i never complained clara before but calling doctor an alien . it was rude. she can say timelord. i don't like this episode. i don't like dany's threaten to the doctor. Doctor needs an companion admires him.
Ha, I loved the Doctor getting confused about the play too, he really doesn't have a clue does he. Also, Capaldi's delivery on the line about Clara not explaining Danny to him at the end of that scene was spot on!
Yeah, he makes me miss Rory the Roman too, he's similar but also very different at the same time. It took a while for Rory to grow on me and he became dependable and completely trustworthy, where as I loved Danny from the get go, but I have a niggling feeling that he's up to something. Like you say it could just be his own ghosts haunting him that make him wary, and in many ways I hope that's all it is, but there is a slight element of spy or usurper about him that troubles me. Great character though, and the actor is doing a terrific job :)
Well, the Doctor himself called himself an alien when Clara asked if there were any in the school, and he did so in a very rude way. He's constantly rude and ignorant to people, including Clara, and she does still admire him, she said as much to Danny during their chats in this episode.
Anyway, if she'd referred to him as Timelord then Danny would only have asked what in the blazers is that, and she would have to explain that he was an alien anyway, lol. Plus it would have spoiled the later scene in the TARDIS which was wonderful imo.
The next two look like they are going to be pretty big on the scares. I've heard the beeb are particularly concerned about something in Orient Express, which has me intrigued!
Yeah, they look pretty scary, especially the next one with the spiders :( And I can't wait to see the Doctor aboard the Orient Express ! I hope he mentions his encounter with Agatha Christie :D
I'm not too bad with spiders, though I am a little worried about this big decision he's going to be making that Clara won't like, especially if it's going to be putting Courtney in jeopardy. I think it would be a bold move if they put the life of a teenager at risk in the show. But that would be living up to the darker tone promised after all I guess, and it really does depend on if all these people who end up in the 'Nethersphere' are going to stay dead at the end of the series or not perhaps?
Ahh yeah, that would be a good line to add in wouldn't it :D I wonder if it will look like an actual train, kind of like how the Titanic looked in Voyage of the Damned?
I'm not a huge fan of bugs in general ^^ Yes, I agree with you on all that, I think it's going to be a really interesting episode ! But it's very possible that the Doctor will have to make a choice concerning Courtney that Clara won't like. Anyway, can't wait to find out !
A future-like Orient Express ? Like a flying train or something ? That'd be awesome ! :D
I do have a theory on what could happen due to the sneak peek that they showed on Graham Norton. I think it may have been a bit of a spoilery clip tbh, especially as they have not now made it available on You Tube too :s
I didn't really like this episode because after watching it I got a strange feeling that Danny is going to be the reason why Clara stops traveling with the Doctor. Yes I know that the actress (Jenna Coleman) is leaving the show so that means that Clara will have to stop traveling but I really hope that it's not because Danny demands that she stop. Up til now the companions didn't really have a choice in leaving the Doctor. They either got their mind wiped, stuck in a time bubble, or trapped in a parallel so it would really suck if the one who had a choice decides to stop because her boyfriend is jealous of the time she's spent with the Doctor.
I'm not sure about Danny either, there's definitely something in his past that he's hiding, probably this killed civilian? I'm not so sure about Jenna leaving the show though, I don't believe it myself, from what I've heard. With what's been said about the next two episodes I think what the Doctor does will have more impact on Clara's thoughts, but I'm assuming that the rest of the season will be used to work it out, so to speak.
Yea but she didn't really have much of a choice. Its either: keep traveling with a guy who would never love you back and will constantly put you in danger OR move on with your life.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI think Danny was a bit annoying at some points but I laughed so hard when he called the Doctor "Space Dad" :D
Fab episode, really love Gareth Roberts humour and think it goes well with Capaldi :D
ReplyDeleteHave to wait another 4 hours and 42 minutes to see ......... im so jealous of people in london!!
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome!!! The Doctor as the caretaker is really funny and it was awesome and about time that Danny found out about the Doctor. Space Dad lol
ReplyDeleteMy favourite episode of the season!
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoyed Lodger I think you will like this, they are very similar in tone and style really :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, it was my favourite I think, I adore Capaldi when he's doing comedy though, he makes such a great straight man!
ReplyDeleteI loved the lodger!!! now im even more excited!!!
ReplyDeleteSpace Dad lol. This was a fun episode. Glad that Danny finally is in the know. The student was a bit annoying though

Here if it works.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Capaldi is great ! And it's not that I didn't like the episode, it's just that I love the others more ^^
ReplyDeleteGot to say I'm surprised by the positive reviews for this one. Found it mostly boring and lacking something... enjoyed the final scene with the "Heaven" but that's about it

I get you :) The great thing about the show is that it covers so many different genres that it does have something for most people in it I think.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Doctor himself called himself an alien when Clara asked if there were any in the school, and he did so in a very rude way. He's constantly rude and ignorant to people, including Clara, and she does still admire him, she said as much to Danny during their chats in this episode.

That's what I think too and this is exactly why I love Doctor Who so much :)

ReplyDeleteUh, what about Martha? It was her decision to stop traveling with the doctor.
ReplyDeleteYea but she didn't really have much of a choice. Its either: keep traveling with a guy who would never love you back and will constantly put you in danger OR move on with your life.
