Has to be Garrett. Raina is really interesting but we still need to know more about her. Quinn is more a sleezbag douche than a full out villain, Mike was forced into the position of bad guy,
Ward should pay for his actions (with some jail time and lots and lots of therapy) because the abuse doesn't excuse them, but all we've seen of Garrett on-screen is him being an abusive psychopath. So he's the villain here.
Other, I liked Blackout (though it could be that I thought the actor played him really well). I also liked Deathlok as you really got to see his struggle as he was made to do bad things
If it was just the treason and he just killed in combat situations, i would agree about "some jail time". But Agent Hand and the other 2 agents on the plane, plus the 2 in the elevator he plugged in the back of their heads, and Agent Koenig, no way. He should be interrogated for every piece of useful information he knows, then given life in a deep dark solitary hole, never to be heard from again. The only weight i give the abuse, is to mitigate away the death penalty for treason and murder.
Ah, yes. Piling more abuse on the man who has literally been abused all his life and has no agency (he literally could not function without orders) is going to solve everything.
Garret and Ward. Loved them both and loved their messed up relationship. And Ward became a much more interesting characteras a villain! I even started shipping him with Skye ....
I still don't consider Ward a full blown villain, I mean logically I know he is, but for some reason I can't really get it that way... That said Garret and Ward were definitelly my favourite ones, and in that order.
LOL! I just said the same thing, I can't really wrap around my mind the notion of Ward as a full blown villain, logically he is, but nothing is black and white, so I just can't see him that way.
Well, it's a legitimate view that Ward is redeemable. I just think saying he's not even a villain is going too far. He may have acted out of loyalty to Garrett rather than a personal agenda against SHIELD/the team, but ultimately, the result is the same. In my opinion, someone who does such things is villainous regardless of how horrible their past is, unless they were literally mind-controlled or possessed. Ward was manipulated and had his head messed with, no doubt, but he was still able to make his own choices.
Agreed on all accounts. He may have been abused and manipulated, but he still consciously did all those bad things, so wether we believe he is redeemable of not, he is a villain. I just, unreasonably, have trouble seeing him that way, lol.
Many child abusers, are abused their entire childhood, and then become abusers as adults. It's a common cycle. That doesn't excuse it, nor should they get a slap on the wrists. I also liken it to excusing terrorists who attack civilians, because they lived under brutal regimes, while most Americans have much better lives.
Once you're an adult, you know the difference between right and wrong. You have a choice, people are not robots. He wasn't implanted with an eye bomb, and he didn't live under the threat of "The Benefits Package". It's not about abusing him, it's about him paying for his crimes. Capital murder and treason deserve the death penalty. Though the fact that he was abused all his childhood, life in prison is fitting.
Except Garrett twisted his mind to the point he didn't know the difference between right and wrong. Garrett *was* abusive to Ward, which we saw on screen in several episodes.
Of course the abuse doesn't excuse his actions, and Ward should pay for them, but he needs therapy more than he needs jail.
i was gonna vote Mike Peterson/Deathlok but then i realized i never really saw him as a villain so Garrett it is :D and he wins the fav award for being delivered a very satisfying exit. yep.
Do we know if Brett is back for so 2? I don t like Trip so it is very hard for me to accept what they ve done to Ward. I agree that he got more interesting and that Brett plays the bad guy much better but all that is fun for me if I know or hope he'll be reedeamed. Trip does nothing for me and if May is the only kick ass left on the show, well then for me this will become a really boring show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Other.
ReplyDeleteBecause we all know the true villain who has been working in the shadows the entire time is really Squirrel Girl.
Voted for ward and Lorelei
ReplyDeleteHas to be Garrett. Raina is really interesting but we still need to know more about her. Quinn is more a sleezbag douche than a full out villain, Mike was forced into the position of bad guy,
ReplyDeleteGarrett, and I don't consider Ward (he was being abused and manipulated) and Mike villains at all.
ReplyDeleteGarrett, and his last scene in the season finale has to be one of my favourite season ending moments of all time. Way to go Paxton and Gregg.
ReplyDeleteFor all we know, Garrett was abused just as much if not more in his past. Once we go there, nobody is really a villain.
ReplyDeleteHow's That
ReplyDeleteGarrett. Period.
ReplyDeleteWard should pay for his actions (with some jail time and lots and lots of therapy) because the abuse doesn't excuse them, but all we've seen of Garrett on-screen is him being an abusive psychopath. So he's the villain here.
ReplyDeleteDon't watch the show, but I have to say Deathlok because Gunn is awesome
ReplyDeleteLorelei was hot.
ReplyDeleteAnd a mind controlling rapist.
ReplyDeleteLOL though.
Other, I liked Blackout (though it could be that I thought the actor played him really well).
ReplyDeleteI also liked Deathlok as you really got to see his struggle as he was made to do bad things
Because it's Squirrel Girl.
ReplyDeleteShe's the mastermind behind everything.

ReplyDeleteTrue, True. I Do Hope So.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Piling more abuse on the man who has literally been abused all his life and has no agency (he literally could not function without orders) is going to solve everything.
ReplyDeleteGood! LOL, wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteHaha

Im not sure you can count Mike Peterson/Deathlok as a villain - he didnt exactly have a choice
ReplyDeleteThat's nuts! (sorry couldn't resist ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope we get to see Dylan Minnette again as Blizzard..
ReplyDeleteIan Quinn is really more of Marvel version of lex luthor I think and Garrett got to be the villain...deathlok was forced and ward was abused
ReplyDeleteMy favourite was John Garrett, Paxton did a awesome job and that last ep of season 1 was my favourite season finale ever, just brilliant.
ReplyDeleteYup awesome comment, I absolutely LOVED that scene.
ReplyDeleteGarrett and Ward! Although I didn't want Ward to turn dark side he is so good! Brett Dalton and Bill Paxton are both brilliant!
ReplyDeletei was gonna vote Mike Peterson/Deathlok but then i realized i never really saw him as a villain so Garrett it is :D and he wins the fav award for being delivered a very satisfying exit. yep.
