I thought this was the best episode of the season. Lots of Miles having to think about what he's done and to whom. I am a bit disappointed that Ben's appearance wasn't a nice brotherly moment, but it did inspire Miles to not give up, so I'll take what I can get.
wow this was just disappointing for me, I feel like the Monroe/Rachel aspect was SUPER unnecessary and weird. I truly don't understand what the showrunners play is with that. All the Charlie stuff was interesting and her interaction with Neville was very well done.
Completely agree. The Monroe and Rachel part was horrible. The Charlie and Neville scenes were excellent and the Miles part was good, but shudder...the mere idea of Rachel and Monroe irritates me to no end. Bad writing in an otherwise fairly good episode.
What? Are you newbies(5 out of 8). . thinking.? Maybe if you hate on this show, your juvenile 100' bab, will rise? This was dialogue adults who enjoy originality and angsty-gritty entertaining characters stay in front of tv for! This is "what would I do" when Shit Happens ...heroes rise from bad situations and if your do not see the great metaphors of life through these good and bad characters ..go watch one of those hypocritical reality train wrecks or clone comedies, cop show or cspan!,
This episode was great, a lot of character development the aftermath was fast between Charlie and Neville (the part of the episode), about the Miles part I think was a clever move bring the scene of the first episode of the season to show the dark side of him.
I agree this episode don't has progress of the main storyline, but was important to set things and give Miles and Charlie a direction.
The nanobots storyline was kind of creepy, I hope Aaron and Rachel figure out how to destroy this thing for good.
Maybe she wants some Domino's Pizza :p I was thinking, if the life they gave Priscilla on her mind is realistic and she feels, tastes, etc. why won't they go there too, eat their freaking pizza and leave Aaron alone?! It is so idiotic, cause they already lived in Aaron's mind and they could have eaten/done whatever the have wanted there.
I thought the entire episode was very well-written except for the part between Monroe and Rachel, which I didn't care for. However, I love Revolution and always enjoy the episodes. Glad you do as well :)
I don't know what you are trying to start a fight. I love both Revolution and The 100. But this wasn't my favorite episode because the Rachel/Monroe thing and the fillers. The best scenes were the Tom/Charlie scenes.
I also loved this episode! I was so surprised when i came here last night reading how much people didn't care for it.I left wondering if i just watched the same episode
I think they're testing or intentionally distracting Aaron. I think they are smart and know that certain things are hard to acquire, but the point is they may want Aaron to be in certain place at a certain time (I think they could make their own pizza). The episode really played on fate, whether we want to say that it was completely nano or 'half' nano (implying that they contributed to fate by knowing certain outcomes).
I think it's a mistake, especially looking at what they did here with Ben, to under-estimate them and assume them too simplistic...
IMO that's what makes them great, but I also think they are messing with Aaron here, because we can see what they set up for Miles is so much more complicated by forcing him to eventually come to a cross roads where he has to decide for himself whom he really is.. I think they are distracting or annoying Aaron on purpose, but I find it's their human-wanna-be qualities that make them a hard and complicated thing to deal with and confront. It's why the smoke monster, shapeshifters, and Observers have all worked so well on other Bad Robot shows, because the alleged enemy has a conscience and motivation too. I don't think we really know what the nanites want yet. I think "timing" is everything with them.
You did catch that Ben was the nanites manifestation, right? They mentioned to Aaron that they have confronted several people already, including Miles which is why they allegedly wouldn't help him now. I think it was important that we see how Miles feared dealing with Ben and possibly sensed, despite drunk, that it wasn't Ben, because he wasn't that kind of guy.
For whatever reason the nanites are either creating very specific "spiritual" scenarios for many people and/or have set up their own moral standards on everything (and in some cases out of fear). It was 'Ben' that showed and fed into his dark side out of fear. It was his love of Rachel and Charlie that allowed him to move on from his fear that saved him.
Most of this episode was rehashed from the first season.... Miles hallucinating and talking about his inner fears to faces he is familiar with, Rachel and Bass talking about.... I guess it was a one night stand.... what it was like "What we had was a cheap and ugly fling" and finally, what Charlie says to Connor... very similar to what Monroe says to Rachel at the tower!
Well, that would be pathetic if true. I mean shippers have to realize Monroe and Charlie had lives before they met. Oh, its so ridiculous I can't even think that could be why.
I don't think she's fighting us, it's the networks losing strategies of time slot, hiatus, renewal and support . Like me, I feel a few of the" wish they didn't go there" scenes, are the writers moving the story faster for attaining renewal....or feedback for a 13 episode closure .....NO ! On the last part, please :)
Yes! There have been tie backs to subject matter from the first season and the beginning of second season (like Miles getting stabbed in the side again) since @ mid season. I really like that they have been doing that because it solidifies it's themes and yet also has been used I think most of the time for progress, even though It's still also very misadventurey
I think some fans are beyond peeved about Rachel having an alleged one night stand with Monroe too, and although I admit it bothers me, it's not so much about the romantic relationships, as much as I think they could of revealed this at a different time....But I can understand it if there is meant to be a confrontation for Rachel too before the season ends, where either she comes a bit more clean with Miles about either Monroe and/or Charlie and/or has to really decide how much she cares about everything too (much like how Miles did). Granted I also don't want to overly judge that situation until I know the exact circumstances of it...like if Rachel was threatened, manipulated, or drugged would definitely make it easier for me to dismiss the event and/or not be irritated about introducing it now, especially because we know there's a point where Monroe somehow makes Miles believe she died and that might have something to do with this situation too...
t's a curious thing IMO that BEN has been used more than once as a starting point with these nanites with both Aaron and Miles...
No I think Colin's attacking the viewers by saying, "...and if you don't...., go watch one of those hypocritical reality train wrecks..."
Colin's is telling everyone that they are not aloud to wine about the episode/series, because he finds it near perfect...and although I do think fans sometimes get bent out of shape by petty and unrealistic things, most of us on SpoilerTV I think politely debate our issues and most people seem to make good arguments for their opinions, as opposed to something like blatant 'shipper winning'...
AWESOME! Miles was awesome. The Neville/Charlie face off was so good. I am still so upset from Jason's death. I cannot believe that they went there with Monroe & Rachel! I am glad they finally got their little face off. Those nano's are a bunch of b's. Everyone was so great in this ep. The next few eps are going to be so good. I so hope we get a season 3!
Ya,Ben! Last night Priscilla said they (nanites) have experimented with over 3 thousand people. I wonder if the ninites ever presented themselves to the rest of the gang disguised as people they would know?
I'm thinking that's what they're getting at! I'm hoping we get more flashbacks with them in the remaining episodes! I think Rachel seems like a given seeing how she's a creator, but would be interested to see if they confronted Monroe!
Overall, I loved this episode-- one of the best of the season. However, I felt the whole Monroe/Rachel thing was completely unnecessary & can't understand why the writer's felt they needed to go there. It just made Monroe seem even more awful than he has been lately (even though the writers said his storyline this season was about redemption...ha!) & made Rachel seem ...uhh...quite loose. Next we'll find out that she and Aaron slept together last season on the way to the tower..."one night we just felt lonely...yada, yada, yada..." LOL. Loved everything with Miles & Charlie & Neville.
All i know is Aaron is their bitch now lol. Seriously he doesn't have the freaking balls to just kill his ex wife even tho it will kill him inside, least she would be free from all this madness that is going on.
Now, this is exactly what you think CM did..but you did go personal..CM seemed to be fighting for Revolution, not against specific person.
Polite debate does not put words to other's comments that were not there:
He finds it near perfect?not allowed to "whine"?blatant shipping? If we don't have same opinions, we aren't necessarily "bent out of shape by petty and unrealistic things".
No you misunderstood me, because I also DO occationally complain. I am just as guilty as everyone else in that department. He or she was explicitly calling out to ANY fan that didn't agree with him, by saying that that they don't get it, because he/she thinks any negative comment is "juvenile" and or a "newbie" (meaning uneducated, un-invested, and/or an implication of winning over stupid things), as he tells us to go and watch something else if we don't see what he/she sees.
I never denied anyone their opinion, or name-called just because I had a different opinion, but rather I only agressively attack people who are personally or UNFAIRLY attacking others by not being rational and/or fact supporting in their approach. And clearly I'm not the only who feels this was an attack or a way to start a fight on the thread, as EuphemiainWonderland also saw it as an offence.
I also said there was a difference between people having difference of a opinion and those who unfairly discriminate with rants and tangents against others, instead of a rational debate, which I also said was not the way most of us discuss on SpoilerTV, as I said most of us know how to politely debate (which is a rule of SpoilerTV FYI), as oppose to to personally labeling an audience on a thread for no good reason, except to create drama.
Except that nanites may not be "evil" after all. There still could be a very good reason they're doing what they are doing.
Looking at Star Wars philosophy they may be making people confront their fears to see whom is strong enough to find the better part of themselves and move past the darkness.
The Starship song, "We Build This City" (on rock'n roll) uniquely matches Miles capacity to over ride the dark side of himself, as it was the memory of being with Rachel, while playing GUITAR at Ben's and Rachel's wedding, that reminded him of LOVE and allowed him to believe in that part of himself and ultimately chose to live!
Music is often a symbol of metaphysics (and is often used as such on Bad Robot shows). It's something that moves and resonates with humanity on an emotional and/or spiritual level, while also being scientific/mathematical-something with structure--this was the point of what nanite- infested-Priscilla was telling Aaron (and the audience) about being the most beautiful song with great "harmonics" ---because it directly correlated to Miles' life changing experience. It's why I wouldn't count them out or being something completely bad yet.
Loved the episode except the Monroe/Rachel thing. Even though I've read some comments about it being a one night stand I really did not understand it that way at all. Judging by her reaction I think she was forced into it and to no degree do I believe Monroe when he says otherwise. Maybe I would have IF he hadn't kissed her afterwards. My opinion: he was and is in love with her, forced her to have sex (and she probably being a prisoner did not put much of a fight because the situation would've been even worse) and he interpreted that as compliance. All this anger and hate he has toward her is because he actually loves her and wants Miles to be as horrible as he is so he doesn't feel so guilty about having feelings for the woman his "best friend" is in love with. Something like this anyway lol.
Sorry, if you think that. I just finished watching &?#* happens and the first few5/8 posts were negative, so my worry @ season 3 turned me witchey-pooh.
I just believe in Revolution..story , characters , actors, writers, locations and wish their network bosses rise to help the show succeed!
We'll, I'm truly sorry you think of me in this light. I love Revolution, and a few others also. I shoot off how I feel quickly, leaving ooooh ugh dust,, but I will try not to divide lines of support for any tv.show..I'm just advocating good , original, non reality, copycat versions like Revolution! I have been snarky, but my comment wAs a pro Revolution..damn the torpedoes rant..not adiscriminate ranting . Again, I'm sorry offense became paramount. Sometimes condescending "shippers" rile me, but I have learned to ignore the teens rushing hormones! Oh dear, did I upset the rules? Be kind. !!
Yes,it would be horrible! If it happened with Miles it makes me wonder when they were in the tunnel in season one and Charlie went unconscious and she saw her dad...well,was it a dream, was it her dad or a nanite? Didn't the group smell something in the tunnel before she went unconscious? Didn't Miles hallucinate while they were in there?
I strongly believe that Charlie's experience in "Kashmir" was not a hallucination, but rather an allusion to Led Zeppelin's, "Stairway To Heaven" (she was walking up the subway stairs when she was knocked down onto them, there was now air and the light from outsode was shinning down on her), where she actually crossed over to 'the other side' and had to "fight" her way back to the land of the living, because it was so "peaceful" there. Her experience was warm, about "going home", and wasn't about facing her fears like the other three's experiences were. Additionally I believe the Nanite-Priscilla said that they had visited people in the last sixth months, keeping in line with when we believe they were activated at the night at the tower and thus seems unlikely they were involved in that situation.
But I do think this episode ties back to Kashmir, because of the hallucinations with the "fate" factor and because the nanites so far are playing on Aaron's and Miles' fears. I'm willing to bet that the nanites are kind of like either POI's "Machine" or "The Observers" where they may be able to predict the outcomes of events that THEY set into motion at a higher level than humanity can and thus I think they led Miles to this point, even though it's unclear if his choice was matter of free will (if they left him to hios own demises) and/or if they still where directly interfering, but at any rate given Priscilla's song and Miles memory that changed his mind, I would say the nanites had a good idea that Miles would chose to live through the memory of love and the better part of himself.
It would have been different if you responded to someone specifically you disagreed with, but instead you gave your opinion in relation to be offensive to others out of no where.
It's not that big of a deal, but I do feel like you keep stereotyping everyone, as not all teens are angst-ish or whinny, or that all of teens views are dis-valid simply because their teens, and/or that adults can't also be unfair or full of angst.
I can appreciate your opinion about why you would dislike a certain kind of argument (obviously I'm making the same case), but make it about the argument (ie value of shipping verses the value of storytelling), not about the kinds of people that may or may not be attached to the argument, unless you don't care about the response to them.
Your free to divide lines, we can't all agree on everything, but rather there are better ways to go about an argument IMO.
I think it's because Monroe actually says something like, 'Do you remember that Night?' -Implying that it was a one time deal. I'll look for a transcript and come back if I can find what he actually said...
But that's just my point. "I was your prisoner" to me implies that it wasn't consensual. It implies he had power over her. A one night stand to me sounds like something they both wanted. I'm sure it was a one time thing, no doubt about it. But I don't think it was something Rachel wanted.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but it sounds more like an excuse to me, rather than her being specific in the nature of the event and I don't think she reacted "mad" enough about it for it to imply she was severally violated.
But even if she thought it was consensual, doesn't mean that there still could have been something underhanded or manipulative about her in choosing to do so.
I don't think we have enough info on it either way.
"If the Nanites had a little Observer in them they could overthrow the world!"
Ha! Exactly! I think it's not wise to under-estimate them! They're the real "eye of providence" at this point, which is why I'm thinking there's a major misdirection with having the audience think they're stupid, infantile, and/or bad. I think they may play a vital role in helping our gang in the finale.
I have a different point of view. When Rachel says she did it because she was his prisoner, she is basically saying it wouldn't have happened if she wasn't locked in a room and under his control. Of course that her being his prisoner automatically means he had power over her. However, it doesn't mean Monroe forced her to have sex with him. I felt he genuinely wanted to understand what happened during that one night in Philadelphia. She was calling him pathetic and saying he's a bad person, that's when he reminds her that she slept with him and asks why she did it if she despises him so much. And Rachel has proved before she is capable to do anything to get what she wants, to survive, to do what she thinks needs to be done. Rachel has tried to manipulate Monroe before. It's clear (now confirmed by the actors who play Rachel and Monroe) that Monroe was (and maybe is now too) attracted to Rachel. So I can see Rachel trying to manipulate him through sex. There has always been this game going on between them. I believe Rachel was the one who decided and chose to have sex with Monroe. It doesn't mean she 100% wanted to do it. I also believe they did it and never talked about it, which explains why Monroe is so confused and wants her to explain what happened that night. The sex could have been Rachel feeling lonely too. Truth is that Rachel spent 5 years locked in a room just seeing Monroe. Rachel developing Stockholm Syndrome or having some weird attraction to Monroe during imprisonment is not something out of this world.
I can see Rachel using sex to get something she wanted or needed (maybe as a way to gain favor to escape). That's a good theory RisetoWin. What I definitely don't see is her being attracted to him now or sleeping with him back then because she had feelings for him. I do see he had and still does have feelings for her. Which makes his friendship with Miles much more complicated. As if it wasn't complicated enough.
I liked the episode but the Rachel/Monroe thing was awful. And how many men has Rachel slept with? Seriously! Brothers, best friends. She has taken them all. I think they're ruining her character. I did like their conversation though before they reached the shippy part. I think they're both right about each other. Which doesn't really explain why I like them. They're both kind of awful. The Charlie/Neville interaction was great. I'm glad he found out so soon. I was afraid they were gonna drag it out. Charlie's face after she had killed Jason was great too. It's nice to see some emotion from her. She has been an ice queen for too long. The Aaron/Nanites storyline is seriously pissing me off. Get over with it! I'm sick of watching Aaron being their plaything. I mean I'm guessing the next episode is gonna be Aaron trying to make pizza for the nanites or something.
One of the best episodes of the season, maybe the best.Cried with Charlie and Tom; felt it with Miles; Rachel & Monroe. Charlie and Miles came back . Loved Charlies monologue about next day, there was so much pain and heart and hope and something else... Miles fighting with his dark (or/and past) side and winning the "battle" was just great; The famous "Kiss" was a little surprising but it was Monroe who kissed and with our General nothing can be easy predictable; We know he always want what Miles has, so ...The title of the episode is just great! Love it! I believe the episode and the acting , especially T.Spiridakos and G.Esposito were Emmy worth!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
umm after 4 weeks i thought they would come back with an eps that would progress plot.
ReplyDeleteIt was meh, no plot movement
I thought this was the best episode of the season. Lots of Miles having to think about what he's done and to whom. I am a bit disappointed that Ben's appearance wasn't a nice brotherly moment, but it did inspire Miles to not give up, so I'll take what I can get.
ReplyDeleteI have mixed feelings about this episode.

ReplyDeleteThis show imagines ! !
Bad things (shit)happens, people crash morally, when their world is ending !
ReplyDeleteThis was really good ..it is stout originality ! Love to know what you consider good writing...
I hate the nanos. I'm so looking foward to Rachel slaping 'Priscilla' and saying "Your my damn science, you will let us go!" I'm going to lol so hard!
ReplyDeleteMy main issue with the episode, is that the "nano" is super-freaking annoying. I hope they find a way to shut them off, once and for all.
ReplyDeleteThey did! The episode was titled "$#!& Happens"
ReplyDelete"Priscilla" and the nanos are really bothering me. I hope the scene where Rachel finds out about 'Priscilla' and slaps her is on next weeks episode.
ReplyDeleteYeah, when the nano basically said "I want pizza", I kinda rolled my eyes. Where are they gonna find a Pizza Hut, 15+ years post-blackout? :P
ReplyDeleteThis episode was great, a lot of character development the aftermath was fast between Charlie and Neville (the part of the episode), about the Miles part I think was a clever move bring the scene of the first episode of the season to show the dark side of him.

You made me think of something! You know what would be horrible?...If Conner wasn't really Conner in some way...
ReplyDeleteLoved the episode except the Monroe/Rachel thing.
ReplyDeleteSorry, if you think that. I just finished watching &?#* happens and the first few5/8 posts were negative, so my worry @ season 3 turned me witchey-pooh.
ReplyDeleteI just believe in Revolution..story , characters , actors, writers, locations and wish their network bosses rise to help the show succeed!
Thank you TX..great minds and all that !
ReplyDeleteWe'll, I'm truly sorry you think of me in this light. Be kind. !!
ReplyDeleteYes,it would be horrible! If it happened with Miles it makes me wonder when they were in the tunnel in season one and Charlie went unconscious and she saw her dad...well,was it a dream, was it her dad or a nanite?
ReplyDeleteDidn't the group smell something in the tunnel before she went unconscious?
ReplyDeleteBut I do think this episode ties back to Kashmir, because of the hallucinations with the "fate" factor and because the nanites so far are playing on Aaron's and Miles' fears.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that big of a deal, but I do feel like you keep stereotyping everyone, as not all teens are angst-ish or whinny, or that all of teens views are dis-valid simply because their teens, and/or that adults can't also be unfair or full of angst.
ReplyDeleteSure! Agreeing to disagree sounds good to me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I forgot they were activated that night and not before. So there so that theory..and my mind! :P
ReplyDeleteIf the Nanites had a little Observer in them they could overthrow the world!
But that's just my point. "I was your prisoner" to me implies that it wasn't consensual. It implies he had power over her. A one night stand to me sounds like something they both wanted. I'm sure it was a one time thing, no doubt about it. But I don't think it was something Rachel wanted.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying you're wrong, but it sounds more like an excuse to me, rather than her being specific in the nature of the event and I don't think she reacted "mad" enough about it for it to imply she was severally violated.
ReplyDeleteBut even if she thought it was consensual, doesn't mean that there still could have been something underhanded or manipulative about her in choosing to do so.
I don't think we have enough info on it either way.
"If the Nanites had a little Observer in them they could overthrow the world!"
ReplyDeleteHa!
ReplyDeleteI can see Rachel using sex to get something she wanted or needed (maybe as a way to gain favor to escape). That's a good theory RisetoWin. What I definitely don't see is her being attracted to him now or sleeping with him back then because she had feelings for him. I do see he had and still does have feelings for her. Which makes his friendship with Miles much more complicated. As if it wasn't complicated enough.
ReplyDeletewhat was that between Monroe and Rachel?
ReplyDeletei really can't understand why the writers did go there...
ReplyDeleteOne of the best episodes of the season, maybe the best.Cried with Charlie and Tom; felt it with Miles; Rachel & Monroe.
