Bones already had a spin off, The Finder, and it didn't do so well... I go for a Community spin off detailing Troy's voyage around the world named Troyage.
Maybe the question should have been more specific - suggesting the characters or the direction a potential spin off would have made sense with... I, for example, dearly enjoy Bones - but I honestly can't think of any of the supporting characters would bear a story interesting enough for a spin off...
Castle lol... What possible storyline they could "spin off" there? :D I can see Person Of Interest expanding their area of work to some other place, like Chicago or LA or whatever. Kind of like CSI's..
Other - Supernatural. I'm aware it's going to have a spin off, but I'd like a spin off that isn't as bad as this one looks like it's going to be. One that it is actually somehow connected to the show and not a completely unrelated show that the network stuck "Supernatural" in front of and called a spin off in order to cash in on the existing Supernatural fanbase.
Other, I don't think any of the listed shows really could use a spin-off. I find they work best on shows that have established a bigger world so other angles can be explored.
A couple of shows I think would work well with spin-offs (or more spin-offs in some cases):
Supernatural: Oz - Charlie + Dorothy and their adventures in the land of Oz. Colt - A spin-off prequel following Samuel Colt and the origins of the revolver. Men of Letters - I keep envisioning a sort of 'Warehouse 13' show set in the Supernatural Universe with this. How did they acquire various objects and what can they do?
Teen Wolf: Kira - Hard to think of a name for this but a spin-off focusing further on the Kitsune and other Asian supernatural creatures.
The Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries - While the books are in universe with the show (although if they're canon is debatable), I think it would work well as a short summer show. Plus it's pre-Elena and has Katherine which is always a plus.
Arrow: To many to name, but I've been thinking some shorter (6-13) summer series would be interesting to see. Have them follow various other DC characters who may not be able to hold up a full series but still have a tale to tell. 'Suicide Squad' and 'Birds of Prey' being 2 such examples that I think would work in this format.
Agent's of Shield: Agent Carter - Origin's of Shield~
I completely forgot Bones had The Finder! Wouldn't have added it to the poll if I remembered. But well, it could have another spin off, maybe something shaped better. Love the idea for Community!
Ratings aside, Revenge could have a very interesting spin off with Nolan trying to take over most of the corporative world to bring down guys like Conrad on Grayson Global, I would watch that show once Revenge ended.
Scandal has many characters that are strong enough to have their own shows, Mellie could go into politics, starting from scratch and have her show called "The Governor" or something of the sort. I can picture Quinn having her own show too, but I don't have an idea quite yet
Person of Interest: Control - Relevant Threats, mmm... terrorists, evil organizations, a lot of explosions. Hersh and others nice CONTROL operatives. Yeiii ^^
Personally I would love if they turned my Secret Circle fanfic into a spinoff www.fanfiction.net/s/9559488/1/3rd-Circle But from the above listed non. Beside the SC spin off Caroline Forbes Diaries would be great, I mean she is the Carrie Bradshaw of the 2010.
Only show that could have a viable & successful spin off is Person of Interest. So many multi-layered characters to choose from: - Shaw, in her days working for Control with - Reese & Stanton during their CIA days - Root, awesome Root, working in tandem with her soul mate, HER (or The Machine) - Greer, and his mysterious dealings
I'd personally have them spend time focusing on OUAT. Maybe once they finish it, start on a spin-off. OUAT In Wonderland was indeed a wasted opportunity..it could have been so much better had the writers been focused on it more.
The Finder can't really be called a Bones spin-off as it had practically no connection to the Bones world what-so-ever apart from the fact that the main character helped the Bones gang on 1 case.
I would watch a Esposito and Ryan spin-off from Castle. They were the only reason I was watching before I quit a few seasons back, but mostly I chose Other. How about Teen Wolf:EU since half the cast is heading to Europe or dying anyway? Arrow needs a real spin-off because they have too many main characters. Half the cast gets shafted while they try to squeeze in the others. Let Arrow become the Olicity show and give a spin-off to Roy, Thea, and Sin. Diggle can either join them or they can open up time for him to do something besides cross his arms in the Arrow cave on the original show. If we are talking dream world spin-offs, then the Red Queen and/or Will need their own. Bring Cora on as well. However by far the spin-off I most want to see is Leverage. Give me Parker, Eliot, and Hardison working together again. Please! That's my kind of a spin-off.
Big Bang theory - there are a lot more people working at university, many fun stories to tell. I like Kripke and Sheldon interactions, but Kripke can be fun on his own too.
A Person of Interest Root spinoff could work. A couple of weeks ago they had a Root specific episode where she ends up saving a guy she was contracted to kill before. They could always do a show where Root is ordered by The Machine to recruit other assets with similar dark backgrounds to make amends for the past. They could draw in a lot of former enemies considering the sheer number that POI still has out there.
The Mentalist maybe.? With Rigsby and Van Pelt, how to handle being a PI and a family at the same time. Don't start throwing stuff at me, that's just a dream. It would probably make a better fanfic than a show, anyway... I'm gonna miss those two.
I don't want a spin off of Community - I just want more Community.
That being said, Grey's should have spun off again when Cristina left Seattle Grace after the plane crash. I would have given it a shot just for her and Mr. Feeney.
Teen Wolf's universe, I think, has room for expansion. For example, the surviving Hales could carry a show with or without Cora (I'd like her included, but I want Reign to succeed); there are other packs outside of beacon hills; there are other creatures to explore besides werewolves; there are hunters/more Argents... and I'm sure the list of possibilities will continue to expand.
Person of Interest. Spin-off that would show how the governement uses The Machine in its own operations. It would also give the opportunity to show the origins of Shaw and Hersh, which, I'm sure, would be great. TBBT. I see a great spin-off about university life. Here we have Kripke and some other new characters. Being worked out, it could be a great show
Plus, True Blood. Spin-off about the fairies. Or Pam and Eric.
I don't see a spin off of any of these choices being fun or entertaining. None of them. My choices would be
*Justified (Boyd Crowder centric)
*AOS (European setting or Asgard)
*Arrow (Suicide Squad)
*If ABC is determined to do another OuAT spin-off, center it around Camelot. Fire the two main people in charge of cinematography, CGI and visual effects. Hire writers to write adult themed stories and hire a production crew that can actually use CGI. The CW has much better production crews on a lesser budget. ABC should be shamed to waste that money.
I've always wanted a Jo spin-off chronicling her adventures as a huntress after she left SPN in 2x14, with guest appearances from Ellen, Rufus and the likes. I guess it would have to be AU from about 2.5 seasons in, if it lasted that long, since she died at that point according to SPN's timeline. But anyway, they wasted a character with so much potential. And that would be an actual spin-off, not something that's branded as such to try to draw fans of the parent show despite having nothing to do with it, as you said.
Actually there were initial plans for a Faith spinoff where she rode from town to town on a motorcycle solving problems. But Eliza Dushku turned down the offer.
Arrow, Sara's adventures as a vigilante in another city with Sin as her sidekick. (It could always evolve into a Birds of Prey, but right now there's no Oracle and I'm not that interested in Huntress.) She's being over-used on Arrow and losing her appeal, in my opinion. That show is unable to juggle so many characters and storylines, leaving some of them by the wayside. The Flash should not be the only spin-off. Also, this way Laurel could be Black Canary without Sara dying or passing on the mantle, so everyone would be happy.
I would have loved that Jo spin off! She was a great character. I would even have watched a Bella spin off (although that would probably have been pretty similar to warehouse 13).
The only I'd bother with is Community, but what would that even be? I mean, why spin it off in the first place? I guess if it meant getting more seasons of community in some form then fine I'll take it. But why spin it off when you can just do season 6, or 7 or whatever number they're at when it happens?
I would love a spin off of revenge. Just take the main cast and give them new roles and personalities, and a new revenge. Like American Horror Story. Coz obviously being a revenge spinoff has to be about revenge still. Like make the good the bad and the psycho, and make the bad the good you know. I'd love to see Nolan/ Gabe as a psychopath lol.
That depends on the character, and how he/she is presented. I wish "Scholded in Revenge" could have been made as a spin off, that would have been an interesting way to explore Takeda's little school for revengers
Since the show ended I really wanted a Leverage spin-off featuring the current team (Hardison, Parker and Elliot). I want to see Parker as the mastermind!
Modern Family: With Alex presumably graduating next season and going off to a top level college (Stanford most likely, or maybe east to an Ivy League school) she'll probably be leaving the SoCal area. It's a longshot but maybe they give her a shot at a new show based on her college life - perhaps with a more dramatic tone than MF.
I could see Revenge having several one-off spinoffs, independent from each other but with an overarching storyline. And then we would have a badass final series with Revengers vs. Revengers vs. Revengers.
Community needs to get Jeff/Annie together before bothering with a spinoff. Bones had Finder Castle is perfect, though if they did a spinoff, I'd love to see it focused around Adam Baldwin's character from the one episode he was in. Big Bang theory just needs to go away, not get a spinoff.
Can I say that your idea for Supernatural spin-off is way better than Supernatural: bloodline? I still hate the name they gave to this spin-off, so far i don't like the actors they chose... i will say it again a spin off based on people we already knew would be a better idea.
Scandal: A B613 spin-off would be awesome. POI: A Root spin-off would be incredible but I do believe it might take some of POI's auience with it. Revenge: All about Nolan. Love him. Vampire Diaries: I wan't my witches world! Star-Crossed: A spin-off for Roman and Emery's love story so they leave the good parts of the show to us. Arrow: A spin-off for Sarah and all things Island so the show can get rid of them. Once Upon a Time: I'd love to see a spin-off about Oz, not necesarily with the wicked witch, she's a bit annoying, but I've always been a bit obsessed with that land, a good uncheesy, preferably darker take on that world would be amazing.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Person of Interest. One for Shaw just so Sarah Shahi could get her own show again.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest. Shaw and Bear fighting crime. That would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more of Stuart in TBBT, maybe a show about the comic book store?
ReplyDeleteBones already had a spin off, The Finder, and it didn't do so well... I go for a Community spin off detailing Troy's voyage around the world named Troyage.
ReplyDeleteNot this question again.....
ReplyDeleteMaybe the question should have been more specific - suggesting the characters or the direction a potential spin off would have made sense with... I, for example, dearly enjoy Bones - but I honestly can't think of any of the supporting characters would bear a story interesting enough for a spin off...
ReplyDeletethis is actually what I'm thinking every time there's a new poll about couples on tv series haha...
ReplyDeleteCastle lol... What possible storyline they could "spin off" there? :D
ReplyDeleteI can see Person Of Interest expanding their area of work to some other place, like Chicago or LA or whatever. Kind of like CSI's..

I'm going to sound killjoy but I really want OUAT to have another spinoff. One that would be airing between the winter break as planed with OUATIW.
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Dramas should split in Eternal Triangle+Blondie Diaries and Mystic Falls Shore with the rest of the cast.
ReplyDeleteNone....plough the money and storylines into making the original show even more awesome lol :)
ReplyDeleteDidn't know this question had been asked! Well, at least now you know I won't submit that one anymore xD
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot Bones had The Finder! Wouldn't have added it to the poll if I remembered. But well, it could have another spin off, maybe something shaped better.

Person of Interest with Root. Love her!
ReplyDeleteI thoght about Neverland, but the OUAT episodes had low ratings. Maybe Oz?
ReplyDeleteThe Big Bang Theory: Stuart.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest: Control - Relevant Threats, mmm... terrorists, evil organizations, a lot of explosions. Hersh and others nice CONTROL operatives. Yeiii ^^
Other. Mad Men, with Kiernan Shipka. It would be called the Mad World of Sally Draper.
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead "The Governor"
ReplyDeleteWell it's a pointless question but revenge
ReplyDeleteOz could be very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI would certainly love to see a REVENGE spin-off. Such a great show.
ReplyDeletePersonally I would love if they turned my Secret Circle fanfic into a spinoff www.fanfiction.net/s/9559488/1/3rd-Circle
ReplyDeleteBut from the above listed non.

ReplyDeleteNo, Shaw and Bear.
ReplyDeleteCastle: Pi travelling around the world saving Mother Nature?

ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of spin-offs in general but if i had to choose one from this list that would be a PoI spin-off with Root and Shaw...
ReplyDeleteI suppose it was used more as a backdoor pilot than a proper spin off, but I'd still say it counts (sort of).
ReplyDeletePerson Of Interest: Root reads the phone book for an hour
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist maybe.? With Rigsby and Van Pelt, how to handle being a PI and a family at the same time. Don't start throwing stuff at me, that's just a dream. It would probably make a better fanfic than a show, anyway... I'm gonna miss those two.

With her theme music building with every number....
ReplyDeleteRevenge: Nolan
ReplyDeleteI voted TBBT. I would def. Watch a spin off if they did one. Other would be...Hmmm, I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteI was going to put "in Miami" but the location is... irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteMore or less.
ReplyDeleteRevenge: The Graysons perspective
ReplyDeleteModern Family: Cam & Mitch with their awesome gay friends
Big Bang Theory: Kripke, Stuart & Zack
Easy for me. Community and TBBT.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest. Spin-off that would show how the governement uses The Machine in its own operations. It would also give the opportunity to show the origins of Shaw and Hersh, which, I'm sure, would be great.

Revenge: Someone elses quest for revenge.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a Jo spin-off chronicling her adventures as a huntress after she left SPN in 2x14, with guest appearances from Ellen, Rufus and the likes. ReplyDeleteAnother idea for a Revenge spinoff is another person's quest for revenge
ReplyDeleteActually there were initial plans for a Faith spinoff where she rode from town to town on a motorcycle solving problems. But Eliza Dushku turned down the offer.
ReplyDeleteI heard, didn't she turn it down fro Tru Calling ?
ReplyDeleteArrow, Sara's adventures as a vigilante in another city with Sin as her sidekick. Like make the good the bad and the psycho, and make the bad the good you know. I'd love to see Nolan/ Gabe as a psychopath lol.
Spin off for Stefan, Caroline, Rebekah, Klaus, Elijah, Damon, Lexi, Katherine.
ReplyDeleteSpin off- Glee as the CHUMS. As a sitcom of Friends. Like in 5x14. Get the whole old cast. Done. I'd watch it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Stuart.
ReplyDeleteThat depends on the character, and how he/she is presented.
ReplyDeleteI wish "Scholded in Revenge" could have been made as a spin off, that would have been an interesting way to explore Takeda's little school for revengers
Oh yes please! Those two together are pure gold!
ReplyDeleteSince the show ended I really wanted a Leverage spin-off featuring the current team (Hardison, Parker and Elliot). I want to see Parker as the mastermind!
ReplyDeleteYes Yes Yes to BBT and Modern Family.
ReplyDeleteA Faith spin-off would be awesome!!

ReplyDeletePOI, so many strong characters to choose from, it's difficult at times to name the lead, that's what makes this series so extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteI could see Revenge having several one-off spinoffs, independent from each other but with an overarching storyline. And then we would have a badass final series with Revengers vs. Revengers vs. Revengers.
ReplyDeleteTeen Wolf with the Foxes
ReplyDeleteP.O.I. A pre-machine Finch
ReplyDeleteCommunity needs to get Jeff/Annie together before bothering with a spinoff.
ReplyDeleteBones had Finder
Castle is perfect, though if they did a spinoff, I'd love to see it focused around Adam Baldwin's character from the one episode he was in.
Big Bang theory just needs to go away, not get a spinoff.
POI is the best show for a spinoff it has such a vast universe with multiple outcomes..it can be turned into something fresh
ReplyDeleteCan I say that your idea for Supernatural spin-off is way better than Supernatural: bloodline? I still hate the name they gave to this spin-off, so far i don't like the actors they chose... i will say it again a spin off based on people we already knew would be a better idea.
ReplyDeleteSCANDAL's B613
ReplyDeleteScandal: A B613 spin-off would be awesome.
ReplyDeletePOI: A Root spin-off would be incredible but I do believe it might take some of POI's auience with it.
If they did that I might start watching that and drop POI alltogether. I do like it but they are the best part of the show to me.
ReplyDeleteLOL you mean they should just kill the Gilberts, Bonnie and Matt? That would be easier.
ReplyDeleteRevenge: The Graysons pre-David Clarke conspiracy & Scandal: The Grants attending Harvard Law
ReplyDelete
