To be honest, I knew there was going to be some drama with Lola's decision to sleep with Francis. As for the writers always putting drama into Francis and Mary's relationship...well, to be honest...their relationship was built on drama. Personally, I love both Francis and Bash...the writers have done a really good job with both of those characters. Also, for those of you who don't know the actual history of Mary...Francis dies less than a year into their marriage. Of course they are going to pull fans in Bash's direction...because he is the only main character that isn't based off of a real character...so he's bound to stick around for a while since the writers can do whatever they want with his character. They are pulling people in Bash's direction because they don't want to loose out on ratings once they HAVE to kill Francis off.
Completely agree with you Kimberly. Unfortunately there will be people who stop watching once Francis does die and thats unfortunate but they clearly aren't fans of the actual show, only fans of Francis. The show is about MARY, Francis is only part of her storyline and its a huge cop out if they don't kill him so they can pander to the Frary shippers wanting a happy ending.
I'm loving the fact that everyone goes on about them "having" to stick to history when it comes to who Mary marries yet when it comes to one of the biggest points of her story (his death), its suddenly okay to dismiss actual history because the show is already not completely accurate.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care that much who she marries or if he dies, it's pleasurable to watch but I don't see much actual history in it - just saying next two seasons can be happening within a year or less. I don't see them following Mary's history (to Scotland, another marriage, years and years of imprisonment and her death).
There was an interview on e online were the creator Laurie said that they will kill Francis at some point but with a second season now they can and will put it off for awhile, there's other points in Mary's life they want to get too first.
http://www.eonline.com/news/502420/all-hail-reign-s-return-boss-dishes-scoop-on-love-triangle-drama-francis-eventual-death-and-more It's the first question...Laurie said that they are not going to shy away from Francis's death.
http://www.eonline.com/news/502420/all-hail-reign-s-return-boss-dishes-scoop-on-love-triangle-drama-francis-eventual-death-and-more Unfortunately...Laurie said that they are not going to shy away from it. Luckily they are not focusing on Francis's death right now...simply because there is one big death that has to happen first...King Henry's.
They are basing it off of a true story...so they can't completely alter someones timeline. Even though the evens are fictional and the ages are off...they are not shying away from what actually happens. http://www.eonline.com/news/502420/all-hail-reign-s-return-boss-dishes-scoop-on-love-triangle-drama-francis-eventual-death-and-more
They can't and shouldn't ignore the big events that did happen historically. I would expect them to kill Francis off but definitely not this season, and probably not even season 2. If they get a season 3, perhaps at the end of that. They were married for two and a half years before he died and he became king a year after they got married. They did say they weren't going to be that historically accurate but they can't go too far away from the main things that did happen. I would expect them, the writers to stick with the main events. That's why everyone knew Mary would be with Francis. And why we can expect Henry to die, Francis to be king and that he will die eventually. I'm alright with the little things where the writers they add their own ideas, twists and characters that never happened in real life but I'd be disappointed if they didn't stay true to the main historical facts.
I would expect them to kill Francis and I agree it would be a cop out if they don't have Francis die. You can't pick and choose what historical events you want to happen. The writers have to do service to this historical figure and show at least the main events in Mary's life. I went into this show knowing they weren't going to be 100% accurate and knowing they were going to be adding their own ideas and plot twists, like Clarissa and that's alright. But you cannot screw with the big events, in my view. I'm actually hoping they do follow Mary's entire life story, if they get that many seasons.
Exactly, I went into it knowing the show would take liberties with the actual story but there is no way they can dismiss the bigger points of the story. I'd also love to see Mary's life outside of France, they could easily have Francis die in the finale of this season. If not then, he could die in the winter finale of Season 2 so they can then focus on Mary returning to Scotland for the back end of that season.
I don't see him dying at the end of this season, Henry has to die and Francis has to become king yet and with all the other story lines I don't think they can fit that all in. I could see season 2 winter finale or in season 3 if they get it. As I said I would love to see Mary's whole story but I have no idea how many seasons that would take! lol
Perhaps not in the Season 1 finale then but I can easily see Henry dying in the next 9 episodes that we have left. I can actually picture the finale ending with Francis being crowned King of France, then they can easily skip ahead a few months when we return for Season 2. That would put the storyline on course for Francis to die at around episode 6-8 of Season 2.
I'm really hoping they don't hold off until right at the end of Season 2 because we may not even get a Season 3 and I want to see all of her marriage covered before the show ends.
I agree they could have Henry die this season and Francis be king. It would set up season 2 as them being King and Queen. It all depends if they skip big chunks of time or rush it, and the chances of getting a season 3. I would hope if they weren't sure on a season 3 they would make the season 2 finale where it could be open ended but also have a sense of conclusion, like Francis dying but her moving on with her life beyond France. Its hard to really follow a show and then have it end in the middle of a story line.
The big thing about Francis dying, i that they can actually change the whole show in a point that new shows easily get boring. You see, they have a big chance of transforming the show when it's not getting big attention or ratings, cause a new court means a whole set of new character and intrigues and stories, that alone would make a pretty convincing argument to keep their show on. And that's a big card to any show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Whoa at Lola being pregnant. Was she aborting or something?
ReplyDeleteI hope so...
ReplyDeleteHa,called it!This is gonna be good...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if they have her miscarry, tbh. They just need the drama to cause more issues between Francis and Mary.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's not even pregnant in the first place and just thinks she is.
I think she was! And it seemed very brutal.... :(
ReplyDeleteyes...they are trying in the worst way to cause trouble in paradaise...I don't undestand why!

I'm not sure the HAVE to kill Francis off, they can drag it more than one season without kiling him. Besides - the history is already different so...
ReplyDeleteThey don't have to kill Francis off - they're already pretty historically inaccurate at this point, so I hope they keep him alive.

ReplyDeleteThank you, it's interesting. I didn't read it. :)
ReplyDeleteactually they wed on 24th April 1558 and Francis died on 5th December 1560
