The show spoiled itself with Lazurus's true identity with the opening credits. That being said, it was a solid episode that put Bracken back on the map while at the same time making way for Beckett to have another chance to get justice for her mother. I just knew the senator would be making a run for higher office especially with all the positive press Bracken got for surviving the assasination attempt.
the question is will the dragon be back by end of the season? I don't they will continue to drag on forever but this is something completely new. Obviously Castle , Beckett and the team will have to stop him before he become POTUS
wow what a great ep to showcase the intense drama side that the show does well and to revisit some "old friends" in Vulcan Simmons and Bracken and set more things in motion.... tense action and loved it
OMG! This may have been the most intense episode Castle in the history of the show! The mythology of the murder of Beckett's mother just got ten times more intense!
Great ep but this should have been the 2-parter - the ep felt rushed. Also, the whole Bracken thing is getting out of hand. They really need to end this storyline.
I don´t think it´s getting out of hand; I believe this was their way of "leveling" Beckett/Bracken so when we see him again it will be the last time (or so I hope).
Yeah.. it's a problem having casting info at the beginning when the character he plays isn't "revealed" as being involved until near the end of the episode.
My opinion of "In the belly of the beast"; disappointing for the hype leading up to the broadcast. "We need a good font!" That was disgusting and inappropriate for many younger viewers of Stana as their role model. This show's theme also appeared to have been taken from Katic's Stiletto (which is not worth watching after seeing the trailer your sick of the blood and the language), hopefully they won't borrow from any other films she unfortunately appeared in. The writers for Castle must be running out of ideas or are confused as to what to do next to fill time slots until they get to the May sweeps where they will have the last 2 or 3 episodes be conclusions (wedding - end of Bracken) or another cliff hanger. Stana built up the letter scene in an interview I read and I was expecting a very touching and longer scene expressing her thoughts and deepest feelings which Beckett has never revealed, not much there other than "Always" at the bottom of the letter. The best scene for me was when Beckett told Castle she was never alone in the ordeal because he was with her. A good scene for Stana but too much like the scene when she told Castle her mother would have loved him in 'dressed to kill' which I thought was a much better and more touching scene expressing their love. Now we wait two weeks to see the Ninja episode which was given no hype at all, hope it is not just a filler to get to the end of the season. Castle production staff, please don't just throw stuff up there, the fans loyalty and support of this show deserves the best you have got in every episode. I will re-watch "In the belly of the beast" and if my opinion and comments need changed because I missed something the first time around I will do that, but I am not expecting it to be any better.
I voted for 'Amazing' and that's a word I use rarely. This was a fantastic episode, scary, intense, and with some great relationship scenes between Castle and Beckett.
Die, Moonlighting Curse, die. Having them together makes the show so much better.
It kinda is actually. Simmons wasn't part of the whole Bracken thing and now he's connected to him. They are pretty much rewriting the whole storyline here. I really hope the next time we see him it's the last. End this storyline and concentrate on the 3XK one. That is much more interesting.
Best episode of the season to date. It was great to see Vulcan Simmons return - I always thought he had the potential to become a formidable recurring villain. And of course, we've all been expecting Bracken to announce a run for the presidency. With that storyline now in motion, I have to think that the writers are gearing up for the endgame of the 'Dragon' storyline - maybe as soon as next season. With the 'life-for-a-life' debt settled between Beckett and Bracken, the next time that they clash is certain to be bloody.
Of course, the best thing about this episode were the moments of love between Castle and Beckett - especially the letter that she wrote him when she believed that she might die. The depth and strength of their relationship is so touching to see. Every gesture, great and small, is imbued with so much love and meaning from their six years of history.
I loved the Simmons connection, because he was such a skeevy character when he was interrogated back in 3.13. You knew he had some kind of a hand in Johanna's death because he knew so much about her...and now the other shoe drops and Vulcan is back.
Why are "young viewers" watching a show at 10/9 on a school night, shouldn't they be in bed? I thought there were many more things that would keep me from letting "young viewers" watch the show than that, how about all of the violence? Besides "young viewers" probably wouldn't have gotten the line anyway but they sure get the violence and blood...or the water torture. Even when watching re-runs on TNT, I monitor which episodes are on and find something else to watch when a questionable episode is on.
Probably retarded over here, but I've been wondering what the moonlighting curse was ever since they mentioned it in an a commentary somewhere in season 4, haha!Care to explain? :)
You are so right. IMO Too many loop holes in the story line. 1st is the NYPD so incompetent to not have done some real research into the gal Beckett impersonated. 2 hrs and your sending in a cop to a meeting and they don't even check the room she is suppose to be going to?? When Beckett call NOONE is in the 12th. Since when, there is usually at least half a doz people milling around. Then when Castle shows up how come he doesn't even see the board with Kate's pic on it. The guy is always so observant but doesn't see his finance on the board. 2nd No PTSD from Beckett during the torture (or will something come of this by end of season, will wait to see) 3rd The Letter, the way it sounded it was going to be this big love letter to Rick. Why then the 1st 3 -4 lines are about the CSU finding it. The last lines were finally the love letter but would have liked to see something about him saving her life with his books back when her month died. Telling him he has always been there. Looks like we have their vows (Ricks line at dance in Teen Spirit and Kate's 2 lines in the letter) Finally the reunion. WHY WHY Could we not see it. From when she was "saved" to being at the 12th a good 3-4 hours had to have passed (Kate thought it took hr to get to where she was). I would have thought Rick and the boys would have been out the door so fast to get to her cause I am sure she must have called Rick when she was free. Looked like she had showered and had her head wound looked at. It was nice to see Rick have an arm around her but then another unlit kiss. It is also funny how they can show a women being tortured but we can not get a good couple in love, love scene. Still have to have any kisses being interrupted by someone or something. Sorry for the rant but this IMO was not one of the better drama eps. I see what they are building up to for the end of the season but just not that great. I think it would have been more interesting if both C&B had been taken and to see them get thru.
I thought the episode was fantastic and amazing through and through. Kudos to the cast and crew. As for all the negative reviews and criticisms here, if you naysayers dont like the show, change the channel.
I know this is an international site so here in the USA we have the freedom to give our opinions on shows if we like or dislike an episode. I for one loved Heartbreak hotel but many many did not. Also if your not a fan of Stana you are then considered not a fan of the show and can not have a say as to what you like or dislike. Stana is ok but I am not over the world fan of hers like some are. I like the show when it is 50/50 with the lead characters as it does take 2 to be Caskett.
The Moonlighting Curse is from the TV show Moonlighting with Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis. Their characters, David and Maddie, slept together mid-way through season 3 and after that the ratings went down. People attributed it to the leads getting together and then viewers not being interested in the show any more since the leads were together, and since then TV shows have been teasing couples forever, worried that if they ever got together the interest in the show would be over.
Really it was a lot of other things that caused the show to go bad, like David and Maddie have little screen time together after that since Cybill Shepherd was pregnant with twins and Bruce Willis was making Die Hard and they had to shoot their scenes separately, the executive producer leaving, and some of the worst writing ever as Maddie married a man she had met on a train a couple of hours ago. But it's still pulled out all the time as a reason to keep the leads on a show apart.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI figured Bracken was involved in this episode. I'm so happy to see Vulcan Simmons again.
ReplyDeletePoor

ReplyDeleteIn the last minute I decided to watch Castle instead of The Blacklist, and it was Shocking!! Is there a word better than Awesome?
