With the addition of the NFL on Thursday night our schedule is pretty darn tight,” the CBS chief told the Deutsche Bank Annual Media, Internet & Telecom Conference this morning. Les Moonves says he’s considering 18 pilots this year, including spinoffs of NCIS and CSI, vs about 22 last year. And “you only need 4 winners” so “you’d better be damn good or you’re not going to get on.” He acknowledged that his network’s Monday night shows have been “slightly disappointing…NBC did well with The Voice.” As a result, people should “not be surprised to see Big Bang Theory on Monday nights” in the first six weeks of the season — overlapping the eight week period when CBS will have NFL games on Thursday nights — as well as “a returning successful show or a new show” at 10:00.

Please let The Crazy Ones be one of the returning comedies.
ReplyDeleteThis is very interesting. Hasn't CBS announced a mass-renewal this time of year the last two seasons? I'm waiting anxiously for the press release to hit the Web, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHIMYD is a no-brainer, I have no guesses about the second comedy.
ReplyDeleteTheir schedule is very tight indeed. With Battle Creek already ordered, they can only have one other drama on the fall schedule (if Battle Creek lands on the fall schedule). I hope for NCIS: New Orleans to make it.
ReplyDeleteBut first I'd like to hear the renewals. It's mid-March, it should be coming in the next fes days/weeks.
Indeed they announced them on March 14 in 2012 and on March 27 in 2013. So let's hope they will announce the renewals in the coming days or weeks.
ReplyDeletedoes it include Battle Creek. Should we expect only one drama?
ReplyDeleteThe chances are very very very low.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually expecting CBS' early renewals to come in the next few days/weeks, tbh. I had a feeling it'd be last Friday and I was right in a way (it was just FOX, not CBS).
ReplyDeleteI figured Battle Creek was a summer show.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so.
ReplyDeleteNope.
ReplyDeleteCould be possible, but I haven't heard an official statement about that.
ReplyDeleteHuh. I did not know that.
ReplyDeleteWhen the show was ordered, deadline reported that it is for the 2014-2015 season, which translates to the regular September to May and not the summer.
ReplyDeleteIn denial until we know for sure! Hoping it'll be fine and will be renewed.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLol i always say that for my show xD. Just ATM everybody is speaking against TCO. And that 1.7 out of 2.6 last Tursday was really bad.
ReplyDeleteSo everything currently on air OTHER THAN HIMYM, Intelligence and (probably) TCO will be renewed?
ReplyDeletewell CBS could premier a new comedy behind TBBT on Monday then another new comedy on Thusday 6 weeks later. One of the stronger exsisting comedies could move into the vacated Monday slot later and run with fewer repeats.
Do people dont get tired of CSI? how many spin offsp have they done of that show? like 2 or 3?... so next year TBBT will go on mondays that will be an interesting fight agains The Voice.
ReplyDeleteMoonves references Thursday night football, he could mean four new shows in the fall. Battle Creek could premiere in the spring.
ReplyDeleteTo me none of the CSI spinoffs have lived up to the original. Hopefully the new one will be good.
