Definitely The Americans after such amazing teasers and I'm curious about About a Boy out of those on the list, I also can't wait for the return of Rizzoli and Isles :-)
House of Cards and Hannibal top my list followed closely by Vikings. Distant fourth is The Americans with nothing else on the list interesting me on any level.... Left off the list was Black Sails which premiered in February and has lived up to my expectations!
A few UK shows returned or premiered this month that do have my interest though! - Line of Duty - Series 2 - DCI Banks - Series 4 - Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond
All that said, the one thing I am most looking forward to this February is the Game of Thrones Season 3 Blu-Ray set arriving on the 18th!
Hannibal and The Americans both at the end of the month. Also I believe Sundance next series The Red Road begins on 27th Feb and if its anything as good as Rectify and Top of the Lake then I will love it
I missed S1 of Line of Duty but caught the S2 premiere and I was so impressed by it, truly shocked me, hope it can keep up the pace for the rest of the season.
Even though you know the outcome of Season 1.. I suggest you watch it anyway. It was brilliant with some amazing performances, especially by Lennie James.
I have yet to start Series 2 since I have been busy with the Olympics and other mundane life events. XD
Mixology. I have been intereste3d in the since May, when the promos were released. I watched the first two episodes last week and really liked them. Can't wait to watch the rest of them.
The only thing I'm looking forward right now is Mind Games, as I loved Awake and I can imagine this show being as good (crossing my fingers so this is the Kyle Killen show that actually gets to be a success). I still haven't caught up with Hannibal, so I'm not really looking forward for season 2 right now; I hope it does well in Fridays and I'll be waiting for some episodes to air before I continue with season one, I heard it ended in a big cliffhanger, so if I wait I will have the resolution of it quite soon :)
Hannibal and Mind Games, and I'm really rooting for both to do well... but if I'd been allowed a third option I'd have picked Legit because it really surprised me last year. It is so much better than it looks. Give it a chance people!
I really can't explain why but I'm really looking forward to Star Crossed and today i was reading something about Vikings so I'm going to give it a shot.
I think Vikings is vastly superior to Black Sails. Nothing feels gratuitous; it actually all has a purpose. The characters are better in Vikings and the story gripped me more. I would suggest giving Vikings a try.
I will have a look at Star-Crossed but only because, except Bitten and Black Sail, everything else is on Hiatus. I just want Arrow and Revolution urgently back on screen! Vikings actually has everything what I love about a show but it just does not keep me watching, tried twice already.
funny storywise I felt the other way around, but I agree that the characters are better developed on Vikings. still I prefer Black Sails (maybe because of the weather ;-))
I find both to be entertaining in different ways, but neither to be great I guess.
Black Sails is fun for me... Just an entertaining show that is different from most everything else I watch. 'm a sucker for pirates I guess so Black Sails faults are easy to overlook for me! XD
Vikings does feel a little more focused both in character development and story. Like Dahne mentioned, any STARZ series tends to have some gratuitous scenes mixed in here and there, but Vikings on HISTORY Channel does not have anything like that. Which is nice.
I thought Season 1 of Vikings was solid with fairly good performances and casting honestly, but there is something about Vikings that keeps me from loving it. I cannot put a finger on it....
Thanks, I might check it out. The plot just didn´t interst me on Black Sails and some of the acting was just so bad that it irritated me. I´m done watching Top of the Lake (loved it), so I have some time on my hands and will at least watch the pilot.
Gotta keep watching Mixology, first 2 episodes were great, Star Crossed, Mind Games and definitely watching About a Boy, Feb is awesome, but March is even better - The 100, Believe, Resurrection, returning of Once Upon a Time, need I go on :)
I really liked the Vikings last season, so I'm eager to see it pick up again! Also just enjoyed catching up with "The Americans" on Amazon Prime, so hoping this next season will be equally intriguing!
It was announced, but no News since then. First Nikita and then Strike Back, I hope they are bringing in some good action series next season. http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/10/strike-back-renewed-for-fourth-and.html
I just watched the pilot (Vikings) and thought it was really good. The acting is much better than in Black Sails. The plot seems more interesting too. I didn´t find Black Sails interesting at all. The acting was bad and the plot was only ok. I´m not really into the pirate theme though, so maybe you wil find it good.
Thanks for recommending Vikings. I just watched the pilot and found it a lot better than Black sails. The acting was way better and the plot more intersting. Plus, I am a viking...so it is always good to see what our ancestors where up to. :-)
Nah, so far everyone agreed that it isn't good...pirate theme or not, badly acted is badly acted. I am not that charitable that I would overlook something like that.
I'm usually the same way, but Black Sails so far (I've only seen 3 episodes) falls into that rare show I watch anyway, like Strike Back.. So much of that show is unrealistic and the acting is quite campy at times, but I still find it entertaining.
I personally find the story quite entertainingif not good, but then again, I have always had a thing for pirates and particularly this period after the War of Spanish Succession.
Ironically though, I found the pilot of Vikings a little bit slow going....there was a lot of setting up, but really not much of a plot. It was more the episodes 2-5 which made me a die-hard fan.
I'm glad you liked it. I found it very interesting and less problematic for a period piece than usual. I plan on watching a couple episodes this weekend and hopefully getting caught up soon.
Athelstan is a great addition, isn't her? It's nice to get an outside perspective on the culture, someone who can asks questions in place of the audience. But Lagertha gets better and better, too.
Will you comment on them if you watch them? After all, it has been a very thin program this week...(I really like the Winter Olympics, but I hate that it comes with nothing else being on TV.)
I wasn't planning on it in the actual article because I still won't be caught up, but if I have the time, I will. If not, I will definitely comment in the comments section.
Did you know that Ragnarok is today? Strange watching Vikings, knowing that Ragnarok is supposedly today. :-) Watched up till episode 6 now. Still liking it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteHe means if Star-Crossed is rated higher, then TTP will be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteSince there was not an other I will list: The 100, also voted for Legit.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans. Finally!
ReplyDeleteYeah I think I will watch it, I did mean to when it aired but I ended up going on holiday missing too many episodes and then forgetting.
ReplyDeleteHannibal!! The promos are great, can´t wait to watch it!
ReplyDeleteWere they released online? How did you watch the first two episodes?
ReplyDeleteYep: http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/02/mixology-watch-first-2-episodes-online.html
ReplyDeleteActually, Black Sails premiered officially on January 25, 2014 on Starz.
ReplyDeleteOh, US only, damn :(
ReplyDeleteMediaHint.

ReplyDeleteHannibal, The Americans, House of Cards, and Vikings!
ReplyDeleteI recommend to catch up with the first season beforehand...it's only nine episodes.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans and Hannibal
ReplyDeleteI never watched Vikings. Is it any good? Is it similar to Black Sails? I was disappionted with that.
ReplyDeleteHannibal and vikings.
ReplyDeleteStar-Crossed, Vikings, and The Americans top my list. I hope to get caught up on both Vikings and The Americans soon.

Mind Games and Mixology, I've seen the first episodes of the latter and I'm really digging it.
ReplyDeleteGoing to try Star Crossed tonight but I am really excited for The American's to be back!!

ReplyDeleteI´m done watching Top of the Lake (loved it), so I have some time on my hands and will at least watch the pilot.
Thanks for the reply, Dahne. I´ll watch the pilot one day this week. Hopefully I´ll find the story more interesting than Black Sails.
ReplyDeleteMixology and The Americans!
ReplyDeleteI completely agreee Mixology looks so funny and cool, and the first 2 episodes were great!
ReplyDeleteGotta keep watching Mixology, first 2 episodes were great, Star Crossed, Mind Games and definitely watching About a Boy, Feb is awesome, but March is even better - The 100, Believe, Resurrection, returning of Once Upon a Time, need I go on :)

ReplyDeleteThank you. :)

ReplyDeleteI gave up on Vikings too, but what's this about a last season of Strike Back???
ReplyDeleteAmazon is also premiering "Bosch"--just noticed that, so I'll check it out too! I love the Bosch detective stories by Michael Connelly!
ReplyDeleteIt was announced, but no News since then. First Nikita and then Strike Back, I hope they are bringing in some good action series next season.

Yes, I like Athelstan, and Lagretha too. I don´t like Siggy, but it is mostly because I don´t like the actress.
ReplyDeleteWill you comment on them if you watch them? After all, it has been a very thin program this week...(I really like the Winter Olympics, but I hate that it comes with nothing else being on TV.)

Hannibal and Mind Games.
ReplyDeleteSiggy grew on me....around the sixth episode, I think.
ReplyDeleteI watched epi 2 and 3 now, and you are right. It only get´s better. :-)
