I would love to see The Hunger Games, but it wouldn´t be the same without the movie cast. I mean who could play Effie Trinkett better then Elizabeth? The whole cast is awesome...so maybe X-Men could be a great show?
"I Am Number 4" -- I wouldn't surprised to find fewer than 10 people picked it. I also picked "X-Men" and "The Matrix". "X-Men" has been proven to be a good setup for episodic stories. "The Matrix" spawned some episodic stories so I think it would work well. I think "I Am Number 4" would work in an episodic set up as well. The story has a very "The Fugitive" feel about it.
Most of the movies on the list don't seem set up for episodic stories.
1) Blade Runner - just imagine Dekker chasing "Skin Jobs" in the 21st century and............the flying cars! 2) Inception - if you saw the movie then you know what I'm already thinking............so many possibilities as a series. 3) Cabin in the Woods - this one would be tricky. You'll need top notch Show Runner(s) and writers to make it work, but a change of "Cabin Victims" picking a different "Cursed Item" every season could do it..............IMO! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!
Id love to see a Dune tv show. You could Green Screen a lot, bring in a lot of European actors (to play up on the expanded universe) Not neccesarily have it set on Dune though
Im not sure about an X men tv show . People identify to characters like Wolverine now with Hugh Jackman. Too hard to break that bond.
I say X-Men because we see the origin of their story and plus it's heroes I am number four could work it's alien and nice love story I would say Hunger Games but how would that work and bedside they have a show like that coming on CW call The 100 People The Host could work love the movie these movies would be great for the CW or Abc Family I can see The Host I Am Number Four be great on abc family or syfy X-Men would be great on Cw
Out of all the choices I am #4 and Looper are the only two that I could see being episodic. X-Men could too but there are too many superhero shows on TV right now anyway for me.
What is that saying Ralph..................brilliant minds think alike! I'd have Ridley Scott Ex. Produce Blade Runner: The Series to make sure they got it right. Inception sells itself.............#3LL we get Leo D. to produce it if Nolan is to busy. Cabin in the Woods should work on a "Horror Anthology" formula similar to American Horror Story. I believe these three would not only work, but would make seasons of great TV entertainment! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!
Except X-Men (and I don't like this idea at all) none of these! Blade Runner was one of my favorite movies as a young girl and I don't want it to be ruin by a TV show. Actually I don't like the idea of adapting a good SF movie as a TV show because it usually means that the quality level is about to go down obviously...And also when I'm watching TV I prefer watching something NEW and written as an original TV series than something I've already seen on theater. The only show I watched that was better than the original movie is Buffy.
The Hunger Games would be difficult, it wouldn't be able to be 22 episodes, lots of cast members would be killed off, but I suppose each episode could be like a day.
I think that a lot of movies have potential for a TV series as long as the writers don't keep the story within the confines of the original plot (e.g. I would never have predicted the success of Buffy when they decided to make it into in a series!). Anyway, I love science fiction movies (especially the futuristic ones that revolve around dystopian-type societies), so I've always thought that it would be cool to see some of these movies adapted into a TV series. Anyway, these were some of my top choices:
1. Matrix: I think it would be awesome to have a series derived mainly from the 1st movie, that expanded more on characters living cluelessly in the virtual world and those living in the "real world". 2. I am Number 4: I thought this movie was better than the critics thought and I was always surprised that they didn't make additional sequels (e.g. I am number 5, 6, 7, etc). It seems like the type of show that would work on the CW. 3. The Host: Another movie that I liked a lot more than the reviews. The concept was interesting and the way it ended also had a lot of potential for expansion. 4. Source Code: It think this could make for an awesome procedural-type show where they use the source code to solve different crimes 5. Looper: This movie ended way before I wanted it to end! But a series focusing on a kid growing up with dangerous powers, with Terminator-type theme could be cool.. 6. Cabin in the Woods:Another movie that blew me away. A series where each episode has characters making different choices with the facility as a subplot could be interesting with a very skilled set of producers. Although maybe you shouldn't tamper with a good thing... 7. A.I.: To me, this is a flim that would have worked better as a series. Sort of like a non-cop version of "Almost Human". 8. Chronicle: 3 guys suddenly get powers also has a lot of potential. As long as we didn't have to watch it through a hand held camera! 9. The Handmaid's tale; One of my favorite movies/books of all times. A series based on that type of society has a lot of potential (especially for a Cable show, I think).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI don't think many of the concepts work very well for a series, like they are good for the 2 hours of a film but that's it.
ReplyDeleteJurassic Park would make a hell of a miniseries :3
ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games was sort of turned into a tv show. It was on the CW and it was called Capture ;)
ReplyDeleteMetropolis. Classic.
ReplyDeleteAlien
ReplyDeleteLooper, The Host and I Am Number 4

Since there were other numbers that could be worked into the story, I think it would work great. So far over 40 people picked it.
ReplyDeletea procedural minority report can be cool :D or maybe not.

ReplyDeleteOther: "I, Robot". Each short story of the Robot series would do a great episode. Plus Susan Calvin could be an interesting main character.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the move Cube, but it would make a terrible TV show. Maybe a one time miniseries would work but it's really better as a one off concept.
ReplyDelete12 Monkeys is going to be a series this year
I have a hard time seeing The Hunger Games as a TV show unless they did it 24 style and each hour was an episode.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the choices I am #4 and Looper are the only two that I could see being episodic. X-Men could too but there are too many superhero shows on TV right now anyway for me.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. It would be difficult to make a show out of this. Maybe if they started from very 1st Hunger Games to 75th :D :D
ReplyDeleteX-Men is always a good choice. And Minority Report could actually make for a good tv show.
ReplyDeleteInception, XMen, Other= Jurrasic Park
ReplyDeleteHa! I love the idea of a prequel. How exactly did they get into that mess to begin with? What was the war about? Yeah, definitely good material here.
ReplyDeleteThat's the same 3 I chose

Question about Gilmore Girls..does it have an ending or am I going to be left hanging? Don't have many eps to go.
ReplyDeleteI don't know actually. Once they changed Rory and Dean into adulterers I stopped watching. As my kid would say that is "no bueno for me."

Did you say Person of Interest?
ReplyDeleteDune beyond a shadow of a doubt.
ReplyDeletethe handmaid's tale ... it was one of the most impressive books I have ever read and I can picture it working as a show.
ReplyDeletebut also elysium
Westworld, Cabin in the Woods, and X-Men
ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games would be difficult, it wouldn't be able to be 22 episodes, lots of cast members would be killed off, but I suppose each episode could be like a day.
