I love the Season 3B Stiles story line. As Patriotfall said, it gives Dylan O'Brien a chance to show off his acting. It also allows other snarky characters to fill in the comedic relief that Stiles does so well. We are getting to see more of Stiles (albeit in smaller screen-time) and of other side characters like Papa Argent, Sheriff and Deaton (in more screen-time). And it is making the story just a bit creepier than the first 2 seasons.
I only voted for one thing a big YES, I am loving it. Stiles is my favorite character and to see Dylan getting a chance to show of his acting is super.
I love the fact that we get to see more Stiles and a different side to him but story-wise I think he should stay human. We have fewer and fewer humans with no superpowers (McCall parents, the Stilinskis and Danny are pretty much everyone who comes to mind). I'd love to see the dark side of Stiles explored, but I would really, really love it to come from himself, not from outside. Stiles is not a heroic figure, he is pragmatic, sarcastic and serves as a great comparison to Scott's knight-in-white-armour-ness. There is a trope on TV Tropes that I would like to see explored in Stiles, and it's the idea of a Poisonous Friend, one who is loyal to our main character (Scott) but has a completely different moral code and is willing to do what the main character can't. For the main character. I think Stiles is capable of darkness on his own and doesn't need outside help. Right now I think exploring the aftermath of the nogitsune!Stiles would be a perfect setup for this development and I hope we'll see some of that.
I love this storyline for the same reason as most others here, it gives Dylan O'Brien a chance to show off his acting skills and it's obvious that he is having a ball. Ultimately I want Stiles to remain human because he is primarily the audience's connection to the supernatural. By becoming supernatural himself, he loses that. I do love that he is directly tied to the mytharc right now and by pulling him out of the most trusted role gives others the opportunity to grow as well. Basically I am liking ALL the characters better in 3B than in 3A, especially Scott. It's always interesting when a major character shakeup happens and this one has been great for everyone.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Yes! It gives Dylan O'Brien a chance to show off his acting chops other than just being comedy relief. He is a fantastic actor.
ReplyDeleteI agree, he is very good and the way he shows being possessed by the trickster spirit is really well done.

ReplyDeleteDylan is knocking it out of the park and I love this storyline.

ReplyDeleteOh YES! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think that more Stiles (or rather more focus on this character) can be a bad thing. Especially when it gives Dylan O'Brien a chance to shine.

ReplyDeleteEcstatic!!! The second part of this season is turning out great, and that's majorly due to Stiles's storyline and Dylan's amazing acting.
ReplyDeleteOh my god I spelled Stiles' surname wrong >.< Anyway, I really love Stiles' storyline this season :) Dylan is an amazing actor!
ReplyDeleteYes, because Stiles is the best character and well, it will go more and more.
