Odd Couple - Comedy remake starring Matthew Perry ordered to Pilot at CBS

Feb 26, 2014

CBS has officially ordered Matthew Perry’s remake of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” to pilot, Variety has learned.

The half-hour comedy will star the “Friends” alum as the messy Oscar Madison, the sometimes-friend and sometimes-foil to neat freak Felix Unger. This project marks Perry’s return to multi-camera work, as his recent TV roles have included appearing on “The Good Wife” and “Cougar Town” and starring in the short-lived “Mr. Sunshine.”

Perry, who penned the pilot with “Frasier’s” Joe Keenan, will exec produce along with Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum and Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman.

  1. Awesome! Let's hope this one works out if it gets picked up to series (forever bitter about Go On's cancellation).

Wonder what they're doing about that Charmed remake they were talking about.

  2. Nothing I think. It's too late now.

  3. Greatest show ever! I still watch the old epi's. I hope they get Matt an actor that he has some chemistry with....or else it wouldn't work. He would be a great Oscar!

  4. Unless Matt LeBlanc is opposite lead of him, Idk if i like the idea of them remaking The Odd Couple. (which was a classic btw). I love Matthew, and i enjoyed him so much when he guest-starred on Cougartown. But this project as a whole?? Hmm, idk.

  5. This could actually work for Matthew and it has a better chance of being a success given that its a CBS comedy. The previous shows he did for ABC and NBC were both terrible but this one actually seems like it could work better for his type of humour. Off course it depends on who they get playing opposite him but I really hope this one works out for him.
