  1. Oh yeah at Sara training Felicity.

  2. Oliver is sometimes a real bitch to Felicity. He deserves a punch or 2, he puts great pressure on her and it's just not fair.

  3. There is definitely a theme, or at least a very specific subtext, emerging here and the Arrow people in front of and behind the camera aren't being very subtle about dropping hints about it.

    - Oliver has only gotten involved with women who can handle themselves (to varying degrees) in dangerous situations.
    - The rationale explaining why Oliver can't be with Felicity has seemingly changed from 'I can't be with someone I really care about' to 'I can't be with someone whom I care about whom I'd also have to worry about being in danger all the time.'
    - Felicity is showing a renewed interest in the physical aspect of their vigilante endeavor and expanding her skill set beyond the technological.
    - A recent spoiler article has indicated that Diggle will begin training Felicity again.

Other interpretations may differ but it would seem to me that this show is not so subtly trying to mold Felicity into what they consider to be a more ideal partner for Oliver. Something about the idea of Felicity having to change in order to be with Oliver doesn't sit well with me at all.

  4. This makes sense. Sara giving pointers to Felicity. As much as I like Dig he is a big man with great upper body strength. Felicity would benefit from Sara in training. Love it.

  5. I would rather not have Oliver Felicity together if they have to change Felicity for him to be with her. She is wonderful as she is. Why don't they just drop romantic overtones in O/F interactions and move on until Oliver is ready for her. Turning Felicity into a fighter will be a bit unbelievable as she has a thing about needles, height and even kangaroos. She just is not fighter material and that's alright.

  6. I don't think Felicity will ever be a fighter in the strictest sense. I think the idea is that she'll be able to adequately defend herself when the situation demands it. Felicity will probably never be the character who goes into the field with the intent of seeking out a physical altercation.

What I really object to here is the subtext that Felicity's impending commitment to training isn't solely about self-improvement and being a better team member but rather becoming someone who's more compatible with Oliver. I agree that as a love interest there's nothing wrong with Felicity and there's certainly nothing she should feel she has to improve so if that's the show's intent then maybe they should scrap the whole idea.

  7. Till now they haven't done or shown anything canon wise that they can't completely forget this pairing. They can simply keep them on as friends and partners. And give Felicity some legit love interest. Then in season 3 or 4 if they want to visit the pairing and story allows it they can do that. Right now both characters are not ready for a relationship.

Making Felicity feel inadequate as a love interest because she can't fight and because of that she gets training. Like Hardison in Leverage will say "No No Hell No". I am crossing my fingers this episode is done tastefully and not mess up Felicity as a character. And please Felicity there is more to life than Oliver Queen

  8. Hahahaha this made me laugh. In a good way. We've got Sara giving Felicity technique advice, which i loved! Then Ollie comes in "What's the word on the key? And what are you wearing?" Lmao.

She wore a similar outfit when Diggle sparred with her last, you weren't asking questions then. Actually, you were okay with it. I mean with all the new changes happening in the cave, can you blame Felicity for trying to change herself?

I'm glad they showed this. B/c i really want to see some Sara and Felicity scenes on a friendship level. Which i think, will happen tonight. Omg i'm so excited.

  9. Idt that's what they're going for. If they were, that definitely wouldn't sit right with me either. I think with Sara being in the cave, Felicity is now seeing that it might be good for her to have at least minimal skills. It wouldn't have worked out for her thinking this when Helena was around, frankly b/c Helena was a psychotic bitch, so Felicity didn't really have much to look up to there. Felicity is great the way she is, true, but if she is going to be beside Oliver and Diggle, day by day, night by night, it is good for her to learn something. Especially when they can't always be around. For ex, The Count's return. Diggs was sick, and Oliver was in court. Then she gets captured. I mean if she was a little skilled, that probably wouldn't have happened. (But i'm not complaining, i loved that entire scene). I think what Felicity is doing, IS solely for her and not for Oliver. Idt she's thinking, i'm going to change myself to be better for Oliver so he can look at me romantically. That's below Felicity, and she knows that. Or she should know that.

  10. I don't know if that's what they're doing but I hope not. I actually suspect it's more to do with whatever aspects of her speech in 213 comes back at the end of the season (I'm convinced her father is a villain).

However, what I can say is that fans have been saying Felicity needs to be trained ever since 207 and I know EBR has wanted that for her character as well. I'd much prefer Felicity is training because she doesn't want to be a DiD again. At the same time it really irks me that they waited until Sara joined the group so it becomes some sort of competition/comparison thing.

  11. I agree, which makes me wonder why they decided to go with Diggle training Felicity. On the other hand recent interviews with EBR and Caity indicate a growing friendship between the two Felicity/Sara which makes me happy.

  12. Having seen the episode, I'm even more opposed to the idea of making Felicity into Oliver's idea of a woman. She's just fine as she is, and I don't want her trying to make herself over into a Sara copy.

And yes, please give Felicity and legit lover interest who isn't in a coma and some friends so she doesn't have to be Oliver's little satellite all the time. She's better than that.
