Pretty Little Liars- Episode 4.15- "Love ShAck, Baby" - Review

Last night's episode definitely kicked things up from the premiere. The girls delved deeper into the mystery of Ali's journal that Hanna stole from A's lair, and stirred up a new level of trouble.

Alison wrote down everyones deepest darkest secrets in there, including the Liars, but changed all of the names, so the girls decided the best way to handle decoding the stories was to take turns reading...Em volunteered to go first. (By the way, is it just me, or does anyone get the sense of Em just being done with the whole Ali mystery and wanting to let go and move on?)

Soon after Em takes the journal home, she has one of those weird PLL "dream, but not a dream, but really a dream" things about Ali. Emily tells her that things aren't all kicks and giggles now that the girls know she's alive. Ali asks "Aren't you glad I'm not dead?" Em responds with silence. Yikes. The character growth is strong in this one

EzrA almost creepy-eyed his eyeballs out of his head this episode. He creepy-eyed Emily when he saw she had Ali's journal at school, he creepy-eyed all 4 girls when they were discussing it over lunch (not the best idea on their part...I don't know why they keep discussing things in public), then he just went straight up creepy when he showed up at Hanna's house to talk about the possibility of her failing his class, only to sneak up to her room and go through her pantie drawer stuff trying to find the journal.

The girls figure out that Ali may have left a clue at The Busy Bee Inn and head there, but along the way their car breaks down for literally the thousandth time. Rosewood's mechanics seem to be as functional as their police force. While they wait for Hanna's new budding love interest Travis to come tow them, Aria suggests that they go wait in her "Uncle's" cabin, but by "Uncle" she means "Secret Teacher Boyfriend Who Is -A"... Count on Aria to be absolutely no help, even while she's actively trying to help.

While at the cabin, Hanna gets called out on a missing journal page, which turns out to be a story about when she and Aria's little brother Mike hooked up, during her Hefty Hanna days. Aria's totally cool about it because it happened so long ago but Hanna would really rather forget all things Hefty Hanna related. She and Em go for a walk afterward and while they are out, Aria and Spence get locked in a closet while -A steals the journal back. Damn I wish these girls would learn to A) Stop entering confined spaces in random locations and B) Stop setting important information down! Keep it on your person at all times! So many issues could be avoided...luckily they still have Spencer's camera pics.

Ok so who's ready to know what the hell is up with the Hastings'? That family is the 2nd sketchiest in Rosewood, behind the DiLaurentis'. Spencer caught her dad talking to Ali's mom alone in their house, after just having told her to stay away from Mrs. D. The pair claimed to be talking about Jason, as well as legal advice for Mrs. D's impending divorce, but Spencer doesn't believe it and proceeds to yell at Mrs. DiLaurentis to "find a lawyer she hasn't slept with" in front of the whole Brew later that day. Mr. Hastings learns about the outburst and gives Spence the ole "As long as you live under my roof..." line, so in the spirit of many teens before her...she got the hell on and moved in with her boyfriend.

Odds and Ends:

- Did Mr. Hastings and Mrs. DiLaurentis have something to do with Toby's mother's death? I'm betting yes at this point.
-Who was the other patient present at the time of Marion Cavanaugh's accident? I'm going with Alison.
- Did anyone catch the Hot for Teacher excerpt of the journal that Spence took a screencap of? Ali wrote about seeing a cute, bookish teacher interviewing for a position and setting her sights on him...Ezra??
- Also, when Em went to meet Ali at their place, we say AD+EF spray-painted on the rock...EF is more than on person's initials on this show...
- Is it too soon to introduce Travis as Hanna's love interest?
- What the hell is Cece doing in Maryland and do we really believe she killed Wilden because she was strapped for cash?
- Where is Jason?!
- Who was Ali talking to in the phone call Ezra was playing back?
- That train drawing in the cabin looks like it was done in the same style as the pic Wren was coloring Red Coat in at Radley last season...
-Has Em figured out what's up between Aria and Ezra? What was her comment "It sucks having to lie to them, doesn't it?" referring to?
- What was up with that final -A scene tonight? There was definitely some focus placed on that apple, and -A was hacking something...

What did you think of last night's episode?

I believe that was Emily's car navigation and car control system. Notice how the car stopped/"broke down" near EzrA's cabin.

  2. Thanks for your comment!
Any thoughts on who that could have been?
There are clearly more team members to be revealed, since we're still getting black hoodie end scenes.

  3. For most of the episode I felt like this was another set-up episode. Maybe it was the "been there, done that" feeling of the car breaking down in the woods, but we didn't get a ton out of this episode until closer to the end (except for Ezra creepage).

I kind of wondered if Em noticed Aria grab her unmentionables but when I rewound I didn't see anybody notice it, so I think she was just referring to their loved ones.

I'm glad that we're still seeing them not be super excited about Ali being alive. It's more about answers at this point that wanting to have that friendship again. Of course, Ali is a master manipulator so I can easily see her working her way back into their lives.

They are doing a better job of tying Toby's mother's death into the main storylines. But there is WAY too much shadiness with the Hastings and the DeLaurentis families. I don't blame Spencer for wanting to get out.

I noticed the focus on the apple as well. I still can't figure out exactly what it means but maybe someone else will have a theory.

  4. Probably Ezra... He was looking for the journal in Hanna's room, then when he realized it wans't there he hacked his way in the GPS... He did sit on Hanna's computer and started typing things, right ? I don't fully remember if it was before or after the girls saw that road problem.

  5. The only reason I feel it may not be Ezra, is because they didn't show his face. Once they revealed MonA, they showed us everything she did as A after the fact, IIRC...why keep showing us Ezra's feet( last week's -A ending) or the back of his head (this week) we in the audience already know it's him?

This show makes me crazy haha

  6. Yeah, now that you mentioned it, that'd be weird.... hahaha there are too many people in the A team

  7. Totally agree with you there! Apparently all of Rosewood, minus the liars, are on the -A team lol

  8. This episode was an improvement from the last one, but as always let more questions than answers, like why Emily found her bracelet on the cabain after Ezra or should i say "A" took it, i mean she was supposed to meet with Ali in their secret spot and she didnt show up or it was Ezra trying to lure Em to lure Ali¿?...
I remember when spencer and Toby went to visit the old guy at the psiquiatric he told them something about someone visiting Tobby`s mom i dont remenber quite well and something else about someone else being tehre during that time maybe that someone is related to Ali`s family somehow and that will fit the main storyline... at this point i still dont get why is that so important....

The apple thing i dont get it and trying to guess that will make us all crazy, but that definetly is someone else breaking the GPS system i mean wasnt Mona the one that did that cause she is all smart A** with computers and stuff¿?
