Well it's a new show and no one is talking about it...I had to miss it because I was too busy shoveling snow from my driveway and putting serious thought into making a flamethrower to speed up the process. Was it any good?
It hasn't captured me as much as The Blacklist did but I still really enjoyed the pilot. lots of stuff happening in a short time. I think too much of the background has been given away too early though. Will be interesting to see next week's episode now the pilot is over and done with
Not a bad pilot, enough so for me to give it a few more episodes. One thing that caught me was that the acting was much stronger than I imagined it would be. Meghan Ory was a particular bright spot for me. When I first heard about the casting I was kind of iffy about her. As much as I love OUAT and her scenes as Red, I never found her a particularly strong actress. She really did impress me tonight.
It was good I'll watch it again it didn't capture me like The Blacklist but I'm continue to root for the show because it has two of my favorite actresses and actor
Wasn't the best written pilot ep and some of the elements were a bit of a stretch, but I enjoyed it and definitely saw the potential here with this great cast.. the ending seemed like a wtf? as it appeared that the traitor tech guy and the chipped Chinese girl were free when I would've figured that everyone would've been arrested and the area cleared to retirieve the chip by the FBI, CIA, or whoever after taking down the bad guy... but they're obviously setting up a possible nemesis... I couldn't help when Riley was telling Gabriel about when she "protected her mother" from an abusive boyfriend relating that to Kate's story from Lost..... I'll keep watching and hope that they can iron out the rough spots...
I watch almost all shows likes its my job, so its not a question of where I will watch it or not based on how good it is. so that's out of the way since I'll watch it anyways even if something was bad. I just find things not bad a lot of the times.
Anyway I like the concept so its why I choose to watch permanently. What I like about the show is it has Josh Holloway who I liked in Lost but not as much as Jack because of the main character factor. But now he has that factor so even better. Meghan Ory is a fox so that's just a bonus. Both are likable bunch.
I liked that the boss in the show was not annoying for once not bad indeed. Just like the Captain in Almost Human! both of these boss ladies are actually nice to work with.
Bit of me wishes the wife dies in the future because you know why...lol, but anyway I would like to know more about her, and hope its given in pieces and over time and always leading to something bigger, which would be nice.
Only slight down part for me was someone else getting the chip aka Mei Chen to equalize the playing field and as suggested her chip will be a bit faster, and the rest is going to have to depend on her character, but at least Gabriel is going to have the main character will factor which is always good, trust me it is. tho the good part of someone else already getting the same chip ad Gabriel in the first episode is the fear of someone else getting the chip is out of the way like with Chuck. and now they can even play the frenemy card with Gabriel and Mei Chen. Which would be nice. anyways whatever happens happens..
thank god its January, stupid hiatus are over soon.
I'll watch just about anything with Holloway in it and this is no exception. I enjoyed it, but I don't know how well it can/will do against Castle and the Black List. I like both of these other shows, but I'll watch this one as long as it's on the air. It has potential, so I hope it finds an audience and CBS gives it a chance to do just that because I've missed my weekly dose of southern charm and dimples.
I thought it may get a bit too derivative of genre shows like Chuck, Jake 2.0, 6-Million Dollar Man etc, but the gimmicks and tech were fresh to me.
Josh Holloway was as charming as ever (despite some reviews I read) and I can see him as an action lead after just one episode. Mission accomplished!
I think Marg and Meghan were a step below Holloway as far as fitting into their roles IMO. Both seemed just slightly out of place at times to me. Some of Marg's dialog felt canned without the gravitas needed to pull it off and Ory, well honestly I am just sick and tired of these "tops in their field" roles being filled by 20-something model types. It plays as quite false to me usually and this wa no exception.
Marg has done great work elsewhere so I have no doubt she can bring the role around for me... Meghan... not so much, but part of the character will be people underestimating her based on her appearance and age so in the end I think it will be okay. That said, both actresses did well enough that I think given time to grow into their roles I will be able to overlook any initial issues.
Over all I liked it and rate it about a B/ B+ since it did set up the series very well despite its flaws.
100% agree with most pf ypur comments - haven't gotten around to watching OUAT so can't say in that regard. Meghan has been good in a lot of other stuff too though.
I liked it. It's cool to see how Gabriel on the spot can see files and the lot. The 'snap shot, evidence wall' is my favorite though. What turned me off though, is Gabriel's personality. Hopefully it won't get any worse, because in my case, there have been shows I just could not watch because main characters got on my nerves.
Lots of plot holes at least he is a normal person without super human strength. I liked the cast. It is not a Castle Beater at all but mildly interesting.
I didn't hate the pilot, but I wasn't terribly impressed. The acting was sub-par and some of the action scenes felt forced, like a point in a video game where you have to fight to continue. I may continue watching but it needs something more to get me hooked.
I really liked it. Megan was great, much better than I thought, and Josh was amazing as always. Very decent episode and tones of potential which is what I want in a pilot. I reaaally hope there is a miracle and this works on the horrible Monday slot. Not holding my breath though.
I was curious to see how Josh's new show would be and I guess I wasn't terribly impressed so far. I think they have a great cast but the writing seemed pretty shaky to me. Maybe tptb can turn this all around in another episode or two but with them moving to Monday night, I'm not sure if I will get the chance to watch anymore episodes. I've found that I am really enjoying Almost Human on FOX on Monday nights and I like the humor of that show much more than what Intelligence gave us Tuesday night. Sorry Josh, hope this show works out in the end for you!
I really liked it. Have liked Marg Helgenberger since China Beach and Josh Holloway makes a great hero lead. Not sure how I feel about the missing wife but otherwise the only thing that gave me pause was that for a little bit it felt like they'd just forgotten about the Chinese woman (who didn't think she was gonna wake up from that surgery) and the long haired dude. It made sense in retrospect but it took me out of the story while I was watching. It's definitely getting programmed in my DVR
Another Jake 2.0 fan! I've never met another one before. And people keep looking at me blankly when I start doing the 6 Million Dollar Man opening monologue.
I didn't have the issues you did with Marg. But i share your opinion about Hollywood trying to convince us young 20 somethings can have the skills and experience to do *anything*.
Very Nice Pilot. Really like the spacial reality that Gabriel can astral project with in another space! It def has it's own unique look. The set up was well done, even had a nice twist at end (seems to have serialized elements so that's a plus for me) Has interesting characters, but I'm still not sold with MO with JH yet, I hope MO's character warms up a bit. Don't think it's going to fair well against the Blacklist, but at least the Olympics are coming and will let this have a chance. look forward to next week's episode.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI gave this show a shot because I'm a huge Meghan Ory and I regret nothing. It was a good pilot and I can't wait to see what's next.
ReplyDeleteVery cool show! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can't wait until next week! :D

ReplyDeleteGreat! Definitely enjoyed it, even though I came on for Josh Holloway, I was just as enthralled by Meghan Ory

ReplyDeleteit was OK, but not really that original and very full of cliche characters and situations. I hope it gets better.
