not going to get any love for this but overall a pretty 'meh' episode. A classic villain of the week and the 'Blood is evil' storyline feels dragged on atm.
This episode was awesome. I have to say, Laurel did pretty good in this and kept her cool. Can't believe that Blood would harm his own mother. Now, Laurel have to watch her back.
Not going to get any hate either, at least not from me. Could have had something stronger to come back on. So far #3 behind Originals (fantastic) and a really good episode of Supernatural.
It was pretty great return, with a big cliffhanger in the last minute; it's good to see the show didn't lose any steam in the break. I'm in for whatever is coming up!
It felt much more like a set up episode than a return from hiatus, but I liked a lot; Nice action scenes, Laurel being productive, Quentin doing some investigation on the leak... I hope Thea demands some better explanation about Roy's incidents. If someone else finds out Arrow's identity i hope is Quentin, only 'cause i can't stand the fact that he doesn't realize is Oliver under the mask, it's getting ridiculous. I'm glad they showed us the impact of Barry's accident on Felicity and mostly on her relationship with Team Arrow. I've felt bad for her when she said that the only guy who is interested in her is hit by a lightning, glad Oliver was there to spread the love! Sooooo many olicity feels, gonna rewatch that scene 'till next wednesday.
Not one of my favorite episodes this season but it was still pretty great!
It was so great to see Diggle out on the streets of Starling City instead of hiding out in the Arrow cave. It feels like he has been locked up in that place.
I'm glad we are seeing Roy starting to have super strength and transform into Red Arrow. I can't wait to see Oliver train him.
I loved it when Oliver told Felicity that her being away just makes her realize how much he needs her. She's a partner, not an employee.
It will be interesting to Arrow and Sebastian teaming up to save Startling City.
Right there with you buddy. I felt really bad for Felicity in that moment also. BUT, I melted so hard when Oliver said "You're not my employee. You're my partner." (heavy swoon) I smiled so hard my face hurt. LOL When Diggle left that room, i was thinking...awkward silence...Oliver apologize already. hahaha
I'm reallly trying to be interested in anything Laurel is doing but it is not working. Now they are doing the annoying "Make everyone else dumber to make this character look smarter". Oliver, a vigilante who hides his identity, is told that he reminds Laurel of Blood and doesn't find that at all suspicious? C'mon, son.
Laurel has potential to be a good character. Stop wasting her on things no one cares about. We heard so much about the corruption inside the DA's office during S1 so why not bring that back? Ugh.
This episode was not as kick ass as previous few episodes but still very entertaining hour. I love Sean Maher. I wish I could see him more. He was a good villain but nothing to remember about after this episode.
For the first time I really am looking forward to Laurel. See writers what happens when you try a little and give the actress something sensible to talk about other than woe is unto me or relationship issues, they start to become interesting. Keep this up and please don't give her anymore melodramatic dialogues.
Can I say Quentin is one of the best fathers on TV. He is awesome. He is doing his own digging on the side.
I think Mirakuru is the best thing to happen to Roy. His anger doesn't look misplaced now and loved all his scenes with Thea. He seems to have more control than Slade.
Team Arrow was as awesome as always. Loved seeing Dig out and about doing things. Oliver and Felicity's fight was really good. They proved they can fight as well as stare at each other. It felt good to hear Oliver saying Felicty is his partner. He kind of did that with Dig in the russian episode. Felicity was so happy hearing that.
Nothing much happened on the island except that slade is pretty unstable right now.
Best part about this episode was almost all the characters had something significant to do in this episode and not one scene looked forced in. Its like everyone became smart while we were on hiatus. Over all a great episode. Can't wait for the next episode
Awful! This is exactly why Oliver and Felicity should not be a couple, sucked all of the energy out of the case this week. And there wasn't any good banter but I'm willing to let go because they were in an argument, a very stupid and contrived one. I'll admit I did hold my breath when Oliver touched Felicity's shoulder thinking he would actually kiss her.
It was a good episode. I was really impressed with the stunt work. I liked the villian but the way he got killed could have been improved. They could have tried bombing him or something. thank the lord. I LIKED LAUREL in the episode. She was much better and I think next episode she's going to rock it. coming to the olicity bits. HOLY MOTHER LORD. so man feels. I really liked their dynamic this episode. They didn't seem needy or anything. They looked like true partners who needed their assistance personally and on a business levels. The r.p is growing and it was great to see. Oliver touching her shoulder was clearly one great moment. I thought he was going to kiss her but it's too early. and the way she closed her eyes and stopped rambling when he touched her was literally the best moment for me. Diggle was excellent. He made those awesome comments and called Oliver on his crap. Diggle should be more out on the field. The island stuff was also good. Let's see what happens next week. can't wait. Slade is becoming a bigger favourite for me. He is gonna kick some serious butt. Oliver,Sara and Ivo. Watch out. :)
Epic stunt episode. Loved the bit where Oliver was chasing Shrapnel and he came off the bike to glide on the road, that was awesome!
I am sorry, Laurel (and Katie's acting) still annoyed me, particularly in the last scenes where she went to see Blood's mom. Plus I agree with Shannon's comment, about being distracted by her appearance. I just kept looking at her jawline and how weird (sorry if that's offensive I don't mean to be) she looks.
Loved the scenes between the Arrow Team, but I have to admit, I seriously thought Oliver and Felicity were going to kiss or do more than placing one's hand on the other's shoulder. Feels overload during Oliver's apology. Dig was all kinds of awesome tonight both on the mission and as a friend.
The flashback scenes were very informative.
I am hoping Thea won't get freaked out by Roy's new abilities and I hope that he opens up to her about them, because I think having her with him through this transition may help.
I have one question about Laurel.. (would you look at that, i actually have a question. Writers did something right tonight) Do you think she'll try and clear Blood's mom's name with this new found info??
The day Oliver does something more than put his hand on Felicity's shoulder, or holds her hand, i'll go into cardiac arrest. I'm still kinda hoping she twists her ankle or something so he can pick her up. LOL
Hmmm possibly. If Laurel clears Blood's mom's name that would be nice, and I would fully support her doing that. That said, I honestly doubt that would change my mind entirely about Laurel. I think Katie's acting for this particular character (yes I understand others liked her in SPN, so that credits her acting ability, so I will limit this to her portrayal of Laurel) is still poor; I can see her trying to act which pulls me out of the story. It's really uncomfortable for me to watch her scenes.
LOL! Looking back at that scene it makes me giggle somehow, because Oliver could have gone for Felicity's forearm or hand even but his damn fascination with her shoulder is just…quirky. Slow and steady though Shannon I guess :p .
I agree with EVERYTHING you said about Laurel. Her possibly pulling that off wouldn't make me like her. But it'd be a good start for make me try. Yes she was good in SPN, but that's the thing, personally that's the only thing i've seen her in besides this, so idk what to say about Katie anymore that i haven't already said. But b/c of her appearance now, i seriously can't concentrate on her scenes much. Idk if u remember that stick from Snick, back in the 90s, but that's EXACTLY what she reminded me off. It was too noticeable and it also made me uncomfortable.
As for Oliver. I find it funny how everyone (well most) thought he was going to kiss her. I honestly didn't get that feeling at all. Actually i didn't have a single thought in my head, i was just lost in the moment. Enjoying the hell out of it. You could really hear the changing tones in his voice to make light out of their situation. I also noticed that when Oliver brings up Barry, idt he's doing it to remind Felicity, i think he's doing it to remind himself. I swear it's not exaggeration, you really can see it in his face about twice.
Is it me or was it not the best episode? It was okay but it felt too much like episode 10 of last season and too less like the quality of this season. It was sorta a filler episode in some ways (boring villain) and sorta a setup episode. I liked how they mentioned Barry and didn't forget him. I was on Felicity's side and am glad Oliver apologized and sees her, him, and Diggle as partners. Roy and Slade are both slowly losing it, Slade faster than Roy because Roy has Thea to support him and Slade doesn't have Shado anymore, and Blood... hmm, Blood, when did he kill his father? Did his parents abandon him before? How could he make everyone believe him about his mother being crazy and how did he succeed in locking her up when he was just a child? Also, Katie Cassidy, may I present you a sandwich? Eat something! She looks awful now.
I really didn't get Blood's mother. Why is she pretending to be crazy if she isn't and how could she let her son do this to her? She was the adult and he was the child.
It's not just me...it is as if the episode was about everything BUT the stuff I am interested in. The only good part were the scenes with Thea and Roy. Otherwise...did we get something related to Slade? No! We got some random villain I frankly didn't care about. Did we get something about how Oliver plans to deal with what happened to Roy? No! He is all worried, but he is basically leaving Roy alone with his problems. Class act, Oliver. Instead we got a lot of Island, which is frankly boring now that we know how it will end (Sara and Oliver survive, but Oliver believes that she is dead, and Slade gets fake killed at one point). Otherwise we were stuck with Laurel's investigation. The only positive part about this is that at least she wasn't totally useless. But at the same time, I have trouble to believe that Felicity wouldn't look into Blood's past. That's what she does, after all.
I know...I mean, even the cliffhanger is not really one, because we all knew he was evil. It's not exactly a big revelation. It shouldn't even be one for Laurel, because unlike Oliver, she did suspect something.
We did get something related to Slade though. Manu sold the scene of Slade choking Oliver for me with the look on his face when he realized what he's done. I like the island storyline and seeing Slade change from Oliver's friend to Deathstroke. As for Roy, I follow spoilers so (please don't read further if you don't want to know) I know Oliver will bring to vote the decision of whether to reveal his secret to him or not and will start trying to train him. He didn't think Roy would be injected with Mirakuru though when he shot his leg though and he knows the damage was done so I'm fine with him staying away for now.
I meant Slade in present day...to be honest, now that I know what happened to everyone on the island in the end, I am not longer interested on what happened to get them at this point.
Why didn't they use the corruption thing in the beginning, for starters? It'd be a good way to show Laurel's desire to do good and right by people and eventually need Oliver - or having their paths cross. They just kept dropping anything Laurel related and now don't understand why people don't care about her LOL
I am still interested in the past. I personally would like to see Sara getting saved by LoA and joining them and I'd like to see what happened to Slade between the time Oliver thought he died and the time he reached Starling City. As for present Slade, he'll return next week and we'll probably see the beginning of his revenge plan against Ollie then.
I loved that Oliver apologized to Felicity and admitted he needs her and he considers her as a partner. Diggle is awesome, I love the team they have created. Laurel, (I'm not a fan, sorry). She is very skinny, Is it because of her addiction??
i'm GLAD he didn't say friend. Him saying "Partner" she was seriously UPGRADED. She went from some stranger he trusted. To employee, to friend, to friend who acts like my employee, to PARTNER! He relies on her, he needs her, she has to make the tough decisions, when he can't. She is 100% his Confidant. I'm so glad he used that word, she couldn't be more in his circle. They're (all 3) officially Team Arrow.
Hey, no pain, no gain right? Every couple/non couple has their moments, but it's their journey that's more important. And we actually see how they get THERE. Ya know? Just enjoy it. I know i am. ; )
I actually wanted Lance to find out about Oliver and really be shocked by it, but at this point I hope he knows. Otherwise, he's gonna seem really stupid considering how much he knows about Diggle and Felicity's involvement and that just doesn't make sense for his character.
Well that's the thing. Who said she was pretending?? Her "psychosis" could actually be traumatized emotions from way back. And since she's locked up, no one would believe anything she had to say, if anything they would consider her more crazy, b/c she'd be in wicked denial about "her killing her husband" and to everyone else it would be nothing more than ramblings of a mad woman. So yeah i can understand why she would play the role of psychotic.
As for her being an adult, So what? Being an adult means nothing, once you know said child has a gun in his hands and now is mentally unstable, and regardless she wasn't going to put her hands on him, that's her child, (and she really didn't have the look of i get my point across by hitting my child) b/c let's say the cops did come, and he (Sebastian) told the comes that she attacked him, and there were actually marks on him from "her abuse" again his word would be taken over hers.
Then again we don't know the whole story. Let's say Blood's father was an abusive drunken bastard, but he actually attacked Blood and not his mother, forcing Blood to get the gun to shoot his father, at that same exact moment, the mother walks in, ergo boy gets scared, panics and runs out. Never wanting to take the fall for his actions, he set up his mom instead. And the mom kept her mouth shut b/c at that time she probably had magnified guilt, overwhelming shock, and off the charts emotional distress, b/c at the end of the day, that was still her son.
I really like Arrow but my one negative is Kevin Alejandro - I think he's a very poor actor and not remotely convincing as either Sebastian or Brother Blood. I really hope he's not sticking around much longer.
I agree. It was an Ok episode, and that's it. It really annoyed me that the sister and mother showed up where the danger was. Were they knew the danger would be... Saving them every other episode - that's getting old!
I think Blood is such a good speaker that he is able to trick everyone into believing his words. I think even in comics he is someone who can cloud everyone's judgement not sure.
We have seen in the show that everyone kind of eats his words and trusts him so maybe he was that good at spinning a story that authorities believed him and not his mother.
Regarding Laurel, I enjoyed her character more this episode because she became relevant to the story. But that being said I am still underwhelmed by the actress. I feel she is trying too hard and she is skinny. Her face lost that beautiful softness and glow she had first season. I think the make up department is doing this deliberately by giving her dark lipsticks so that she looks a bit hardened due to pill popping. If that is the case well done.
I don't know if this new liking that I got for Laurel will last once her arc is over. For ex: Moira can be in one single scene in an episode and I still connect with her. I don't know the same will be the case with Laurel once this big arc for her is over.
I suppose it's also possible that he lied about when it happened too. Maybe his parents abused him and abandoned him as a child and he returned as an adult to kill his father and get his mother locked up in a mental institution as a punishment for what they did to him.
And why wouldn't they be there? Thea just had an event for Blood at her club with Moira present before. The entire Queen family supports Blood right now, not just Oliver.
Another doubt I had this episode - Wasn't Thea, Roy and Sin suspicious about Sebastian Blood in the last episode? How come they are supporting Blood this episode? And what happened to the investigation of B team into the death of Sin's friend?
They didn't get to Blood in their investigation and Roy shut this whole thing down after he was injected by the Mirakuru. Sin will be back soon and I won't be surprised if she shows up to tell Roy something about it.
Over all I liked the episode though no big moves on any of the arc stories. The Blood story or the island story. Sorry to say I was kind of bored with the island story in this episode. We only needed one scene to understand that Slade was unstable because of the drug. Not the entire flashback. I've begun to worry that when we find out why this drug appearing in Starling City that I'll be disappointed.
I was a little taken aback by Oliver and Blood being friends. Yeah, it was 5 weeks in the show but only 1 week for me as a viewer. I like Laurel the PI. She's more active and more interesting. Her scene with Blood's mother was a nice one.
This show really has cemented itself as one of my favorite hours of TV (and I watch a lot of it). I know that because even when the episode isn't mind blowing I find myself enjoying it. The island scenes were pretty much fillerish and I also didn't get the point of the villain of the week but other than that it was great. I like the Laurel storyline and really enjoy the Roy Harper one. I don't think Blood is a good enough villain to carry the season until the end though, I would rather have him killed off a bit earlier, let's see how it progresses. Also, is there something going on with Katie Cassidy? No bashing or anything, I do like Laurel unlike everyone here it's just that she looks way too thin for her own good, it's odd.
When Slade appeared in the present I was so focused on thinking about all the juicy elements of the story that turned Slade from the guy who got himself blown up trying to save Oliver to a guy out to destroy Oliver that I completely missed that dialog. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHey, no pain, no gain right? Every couple/non couple has their moments, but it's their journey that's more important. And we actually see how they get THERE. Ya know? Just enjoy it. I know i am. ; )
I actually wanted Lance to find out about Oliver and really be shocked by it, but at this point I hope he knows. Otherwise, he's gonna seem really stupid considering how much he knows about Diggle and Felicity's involvement and that just doesn't make sense for his character.
ReplyDeleteWell that's the thing.
ReplyDeleteAs for her being an adult, So what?
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was an Ok episode, and that's it. It really annoyed me that the sister and mother showed up where the danger was. Were they knew the danger would be... Saving them every other episode - that's getting old!
ReplyDeleteI think Blood is such a good speaker that he is able to trick everyone into believing his words. I think even in comics he is someone who can cloud everyone's judgement not sure.
ReplyDeleteWe have seen in the show that everyone kind of eats his words and trusts him so maybe he was that good at spinning a story that authorities believed him and not his mother.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this new liking that I got for Laurel will last once her arc is over.
ReplyDeleteAnd why wouldn't they be there? Thea just had an event for Blood at her club with Moira present before. The entire Queen family supports Blood right now, not just Oliver.
ReplyDeleteAnother doubt I had this episode - Wasn't Thea, Roy and Sin suspicious about Sebastian Blood in the last episode? How come they are supporting Blood this episode? And what happened to the investigation of B team into the death of Sin's friend?
ReplyDeleteReally? I think he's a good actor, and he'll probably be killed by the end of this season anyway.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't get to Blood in their investigation and Roy shut this whole thing down after he was injected by the Mirakuru. Sin will be back soon and I won't be surprised if she shows up to tell Roy something about it.
ReplyDeleteI hope they get THERE. Because I fear this DAMN WRITERS are just playing with us.
ReplyDeleteOver all I liked the episode though no big moves on any of the arc stories. The Blood story or the island story. Sorry to say I was kind of bored with the island story in this episode. We only needed one scene to understand that Slade was unstable because of the drug. Not the entire flashback. I've begun to worry that when we find out why this drug appearing in Starling City that I'll be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI was a little taken aback by Oliver and Blood being friends. Yeah, it was 5 weeks in the show but only 1 week for me as a viewer. I like Laurel the PI. She's more active and more interesting. Her scene with Blood's mother was a nice one.
I voted for Great. For the first twenty minutes was slow-ish but right at the end was a bang. Regardless its awesome to have Arrow back :)
ReplyDeletecardiac arrest??? hahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha! That was so damn funny. you made my day! :) i swear to god I'm already getting seizures! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis episode finally convinced me to drop this crap of a show. I'm sorry, but even the ubercute Felicity is not enough at this point.
ReplyDeleteThey will get there. We'll have it one day. No worries. = )
ReplyDeleteCtfu!!! Anything to help. Be honest, how many times have you looked at that scene? Hahahaha
ReplyDeleteIve seen it so many times and saw that eye closing scene like a million times iiterally. Holy lord Oliver queen is in love FINALLY!!

ReplyDeleteWe already found out in the previous episode why this drug appeared in Starling City. Slade donated his own blood for that doctor to reproduce it.
ReplyDeleteWhen Slade appeared in the present I was so focused on thinking about all the juicy elements of the story that turned Slade from the guy who got himself blown up trying to save Oliver to a guy out to destroy Oliver that I completely missed that dialog. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteYeah. I thought u'd like that. : )
