“A lot of people have approached me about the idea of not shutting the door entirely on [their staying in touch], and I’m not opposed to it,” showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, when we asked if the CBS drama might ever suggest that Tony (played by Michael Weatherly) is finding ways to communicate with his ex-colleague (former cast member Cote de Pablo). “But it has to be done in a way where it feels organic to the storytelling and we’re not just throwing in lines about Ziva here and there.”

For example, “If Tony’s in a personal relationship or there’s something significant happening for him and he wondered how she would respond, then maybe we can figure out a way to do it. It’s a valid issue to bring up.”

  1. Throw in lines about Ziva here and there, damn it! I miss her.

  2. Valid issue? How about the attack and Delilah being paralyzed? No, let's have Tony get a girlfriend instead. That will give him a good excuse to text Ziva. Sounds like GG is sending out a clue regarding Tony. Geesh!

  3. Um, Delilah is talked about in the full article.

  4. Well that little rant was utterly pointless.

  5. You make it sound like Tony should only be with Ziva. Ziva left,Cote left, let Tony find some happiness, let him get on with his life...

  6. Please, enough of Ziva and enough of Cote!

  7. I was referring to the attack being a good valid issue to contact ZIva about, not that she wasn't mentioned in the article.

  8. TV shows often have issues with dealing with characters who have left the show, often setting up a false wall 'never mention character X again!' is quite often the mantra. In terms of believability it does nothing for consistency or story though. NCIS has set a precedent in that Kate is mentioned multiple times in every season, and there is a character present again who is her sister.

i have no issue with him pursuing a relationship of any sort with Ziva outside the scope of the show or mentioning her. It fits in with his new gentler personality that should be encouraged and is obviously related to the men's group he is visiting to deal with his issues.

In fact i applaud the fact that NCIS is finally realising that keeping a character in a semi stagnant circling personalty pattern is not a good idea, even if it means threatening your ratings.
