Beauty and the Beast - Season 3 - No Decision Yet - Returns in May

Today at the TCA, EW's Mark Pedowitz said that Beauty And The Beast will be back in May to complete its current season. He added that no decision has been made about the show's future.

    It'd be kinda dull to say that he already made a decision by episode 10 (or 11), but the return date is pretty indicative that it won't return for a third season.
    They're shoving out the remaining episodes and the fans will be lucky if they even get a dvd release.

    I'm just so not ready to give up, on this little gem of a show, they kept dragging on, no letting us know about a second season, for what it's worth, I'm an eternal optimist, it's not over till it's over!!!

    It's sad to say this, I loved this show but Kern did a horrible job. I stopped to watch the show and i know a lot of fans that did the same, American fans who are the base to renew or canceled a show. It's sad to say this but Kern is the resposible one, i don't know if its true but i heard that he worked on Charmed and based on what some fans said this is what he does the most, push fans away. Sad for Kristin, Austin and Jay Ryan, they really did a great job on season 1 hopefully they will find another great show to work. I have to agree with everyone here, i don't think Batb is coming for a 3rd season.

    I tell you already that all these months without #BATB will seem endless, and I really hope I speak on behalf of all the fans you to save the show and will continue with a third series. I can also explain the reasons why you should do it. Reason number one is a great show with an amazing cast and talented. Number two has a story more compelling, number three you have many fans abroad, do not be so foolish as to overlook this, try instead to focus on a more expanded. Council seek to change the day and advertise more #BATB because from what I've seen is not done enough! That being said I hope to arrive in May and have a wonderful announcement of the renewal of our beloved #BEAUTYANDTHEBEAST! Greetings from an Italian fan! Sorry for the English I'm using a translator, I have probably misspelled a few words, but I hope that the concept will be realized! CIAO!!

    Im thinking they havent take a decission, until 100s and Star Crossed airs, if the ratings are so bad and they pick only one show between Reign and TTP than we might have a shot. Still really optmistic about BATB. :)

    I agree with you.Kern is responsible for this horrible job.What made this show great last season was the chemistry between Vincent and Catherine.They could have changed the action up and changed Vincent's looks(I understand that,it was hard to keep putting all that makeup on)but when they destroyed both characters on the show,It got hard to watch.I still watch,though,I am hoping the show will get better.If it goes off the air,Mr.Kern can blame himself.Kristin,Jay,Austin,and Nina deserve better.They all are amazing together.

    This is unclear. There are 13 episodes left in the season. Originally it was going to air until March and then go on hiatus for an unknown period before the last few eps of the season aired.


    Is he saying that is still the plan and the last few eps will air in May? Or is he saying it is going on hiatus immiedately and the last 13 eps will start airing in May?

    Yeah at least we know when we will see the rest of the season. Maybe if they did not change the day we would get more ratings. Would like to see how TVD would go in this time slot. Beasties will fight for a third season and personally if you cancel a show that has won 2 out of 3 People choice awards for best show then you really are not that smart.

    The award is *Favorite* show, not best and the PCAs mean nothing to networks because 10 people can vote 100 million times. Now if they ever changed the voting so that only US votes count and each person could only vote once, and BATB still won, then that would be a different story.

    Well probably in any other network they are worthless, again and again CW has proved to be really different than the other networks, and having a strong online following these days might help a little more when you have bottom tied shows. You never know when to call something worthless when it comes to executive decisions in a network specially the CW!

    I look at this as good news. At least we now get to see all the episodes with a return date and in the mean time we enjoy episodes until March. Now we can stay hopeful for a season 3 and maybe work toward trying to get one. I wish some people would stop blaming Brad Kern for the decline in viewership because it has low ratings before he arrived. Can someone explain if watching the show live is better for ratings rather than watching it later on CW channel or Hulu or DVR?

    For my own reasons, I'm not into this show anymore. But I loved it too much once upon a time to wish for cancellation. Anyhow, I think beasties should take each day as it comes. Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

    It's definitely more important to watch the show live, because the more viewers a show has, the more money advertisers are willing to pay for their commercial to air during the breaks, and that's what it's all about :)

    The fans did an outstanding job in supporting the show , tweeting and voting . What’s the point of all this social media crazyness if CW network , crew and cast don’t care about promoting themselves ? How many promos ,photos , video , messages , updates, insight did we get from BATB this season? I actually think Austin Basis is the only one who really care about the show , the fanbase and understand the importance of Public Relations and social media (Hello Stephen Amell !) For the record, it is my belief that actors , writers or producers owe fans nothing . Fans cannot dictate what they have to do with the storyline or the characters. We freely choose to adore and support a show, which is fine. But sometimes they better remember THEY are in the entertainment business. It is THEIR job to promote the show , keep the fans connected and invested and they did very little to achieve it. Batb marketing campaign sucks.

    The reason i stopped watching is because is no longer fun for me. Back on season 1 couldn't wait until Thursday to watch a new episode, but now i couldn't care less. Despite all the flaws season 1 had i still wanted to come back, but this season...

    The thing is Kern seems like a totally crazy, he still thinks people stopped watching the show because Vincent and Catherine are apart, I couldn't care less, Bones for example, the main couple didn't get together before a lot of seasons, my problem is, he destroyed the mitology of season 1. He basically said, "forget all you know and watched until now", and what show does that and stays on air to tell the story?

    I've been reading some reviews, so i can see if its improving or not, sadly for me, I still don't want to come back. Kern is so worried to creat something that will last for five seasons and Batb is most likely not even coming back for a third.

    He just doesn't know how to keep fans and get new ones, specially because apparently the show didn't get any. when i fight for second season i really thought they would be better, that a new showrunner would fixed the mistakes made on season 1, but no, it only got worst and worst for me.

    I respect who likes the season, i respect the fans who fought hard and even win Peoples Choice over my favorite show(Supernatural) but if we talk about quality The Cw has all the reasons to canceled the show. Batb has a chance to get renewed yeah i do think it has, but only if The 100 and Star Crossed don't go well. If one of them or both of them gets better ratings than Batb, its a sad good bye to the Beauty and The Beast. They could chose a lot of paths but Kern chose the easiest and the worst one.

    I'm sorry but i have to disagree with you, yes the show had low ratings before, but not this low. Look at the ratings for last season, almost half of people who watched the show just stopped. I know what people say that the day is awful for Batb, but if the season was good, the same people who watched season 1 would watch now no matter what day Batb is.

    The problem is Kern just changed a lot of things (my opinion), he wanted so bad to get new fans that he totally forgot the fans that watched and fought for the show. I respect your opinion, and I truly wanted i was the only who think like that, but unfortunately I'm not.

    Batb is a success outside USA, here in Brazil it is for example, but unfortunately is the USA viewers that decide if a show is renewed or not. Specially because they are the ones who watch the commercials.

    Star-Crossed is a copy cat of #BATB. It's a bunch of teenage aliens who come to earth and one of these teenage aliens falls in love with a human. I'm so sick of all the teenage queens, vampires, Carrie Diaries, teenage aliens. They have a gem of a series in #BATB and I hope these new shows fall on their face. They already sound boring. Keeping my fingers crossed for an intelligent series like #BATB to be picked up for a 3rd Season.

    How can you make that decision when we haven't seen all the new episodes yet. So far I've loved #DontDieOnMe and from the trailer of the next new episode "Ancestors", it looks exciting. I love this show and I think it's very deserving of being picked up for a 3rd Season. If you like drama, mystery, a love story and more, #BATB has it. It's a shame that most of the people on this site are so negative.

    I Totally agree Sarahross1122 that the fans are the ones who have been supporting and promoting this show since day 1. I think that last year, the cast and crew were quite connected to the fans and of course our King Beastie, Austin was the best as he is this year! I respectfully disagree though that the actors, writers, and produces do not owe the fans anything. At the core of any show, in my opinion, are the fans. Without the fans, there is no show. There are other factors of course that impact a show on tv but if the fans are not watching, then the ratings are low and the show gets cancelled. Advertisers base their advertising on how many fans are watching. I agree that the fans cannot get everything they want and dictate how a show should go, but just like a book, a show has to have an audience. Good writers take into consideration the fans. Last year, IMO, the writers always listened to the fans and it showed in the ratings, which were solid. Maybe not as good as some of the shows on the CW but it was a solid, passionate fanbase and I think the fans felt more part of the show last year. It was like a BATB family!

    IF you live in the US, it is MORE IMPORTANT to watch the show on the website. Only certain families (the Nielson Family group) count towards the ratings so although watching LIVE does help a tiny bit, it's MUCH better to watch it on the CW website. The website also has commercial airing breaks too. Watching S1 on Netflix would help as well. :)

    I will not lose faith in BATB! IMO, S2 has a GREAT storyline and I can't believe how close-minded people are! The whole point of S2 was to create a longer storyline for future seasons. Yes, Cat and Vincent are apart right now, but it's for the bigger picture. Their love will be stronger than ever in the coming episodes and I'm excited for what the season has to offer.

    PLEASE GIVE #BATB A S3! Great show! Great Cast!

    Diana, I agree whole heartily with you and Claudia, the CW has it so wrong, they're focusing on teenagers entirely to much, that's well and good but, for goodness sake those shows they're rolling out are carbon copies of each other, a unique show like BATB should be a welcome site on anyone's lineup I just don't get it at all,BATB is just special, it's just not being treated fairly, will have to see how these new teen angst shows do!!!

    Ditto I live here in the USA but I feel as worthless towards ratings as any international viewer so the best thing is to watch on the CWTV, DVR and ONDemand if you live in the USA and dont have a nielsen box (which happens to 99% of the beasties)

    Diany actually STar Crossed is a copy of Roswell another teen drama at the beginning of 2000's but I do agree CW is picking more teen dramas than adult ones, so its hard to pair the shows.

    Easy i hated the first half of the season and I wouldn't call myself and all the people who think Batb will be canceled, negative. We are just seeing the reality. Beauty and The Beast lost almost half of the viewers, the show is doing good outside of USA but in the country is doing really bad.


    The CW has new shows to air in a few weeks, if one or both of them have more viewers. there will be no place for Batb. I


    On season 1 Batb, for me, had great thigs that were worth to fight for, not anymore. I don't like the path things went. Batb can have drama, mystery, love story, but it's not in a good way... I could point out a lot of things that pushed fans away, but anyway, I respect your opinion and i hope you respect mine. I'll say it again, i really wanted i was the only one with a lot of problems with season 2 but sadly I'm not.

    I'm really sorry but i have to disagree, I wouldn't call people close-minded just because they don't like the storyline. I don't like, and I already stopped watching but i still care for Austin Basis ( he is the reason why i started to watch the show in the first place) and some beaties I'm still friend with so I don't want the show to get canceled.


    It's your opinion to say that the show is great and i respect that so please respect people who don't agree. My problem with the show is how they did things. I'm a fan of Bones and the main couple didn't get together before a lot of seasons, so I' don't have a problem with Catherine and Vincent separated for 20 episodes our a whole season, my problem is they basically through everything that was said and done on season 1 and changed it. Again, my opinion, I can't see an epic love from Catherine and Vincent anymore. I just lost faith in the show.

    Yeah they might have a storyline for a lot of seasons, but first they had to think about having a solid viewers. Batb almost got canceled last season for bad ratings and now things are worst.


    The viewers want to have fun, they want to relax and have a good time watching the show, if that's not happening they do what half of the viewers of Batb did, change the channel.

    With the CW things work different I wouldnt even question if it was any other network which nielsen audiences are 10-12 million top shows, CW top shows nielsen ratings are no more than 3 M, so they do take online streaming, international sales and netflix deals a lot more into consideration than other networks when renewing and canceling shows. Im not saying we have high hopes but we will see when the 100's and star crossed airs.

    Ive been reading you and I felt like you, I wont say I will keep fighting for a 3rd season like I did for a 2nd since I think it had more magic to fight for than this season. Saying this, I now think they are heading back to what BATB is all about I dont know if you have seen previous of episode 2x10 thats the only episode of season 2 that Ive been the more looking for.

    Thank you, I understand and respect your opinion:-) I will be sad to loose the show because it would be the first show i would consider fighting for. I do feel the fight is going to be a loosing battle as clear ratings are too low. To be fair to CW they gave it a good run and I do believe they will show all the episodes between now and June.
