On what’s important for him in the growth of the show
“Just that the world gets bigger,” Amell said. “Some of our best episodes in our second season have been episodes where I wasn’t really the primary focus. Episode 6 was very much David Ramsey’s episode. Episode 8 is Grant Gustin’s episode as Barry Allen. Episode 11 is very much Katie Cassidy’s episode. Episode 13 is very much the Lance family. And I’m talking about episodes that we haven’t gotten to yet. But building the world is important because [...] one person cannot carry a show. We have a phenomenal supporting cast, and giving them more to do makes my life way better.”
On the payoff for this season
Amell explained that we would start seeing the endgame for the season in episode 14. He explained, “We don’t say a character’s name unless that character is going to factor in. We don’t hint at something unless we’re going to pay it off. So I know that at the end of episode 14, we end in a spot where we get our first glimpse on where we are going to end after 23 episodes. That’s what I’m most excited about because I want people to see it.”
On what’s coming up for the rest of the season
Amell teased, “What we are building towards in the second season is very much one giant group on one side and one giant group on the other side and just, “Toosh,” like that, coming head‑to‑head. So we are populating our world in the second season for a very specific reason, and I can’t wait to see the results.”

2 sides ? Let me guess: Team Arrow (Oliver, Diggle, Felicity, Roy, Barry, Sarah, Det. Lance, Lorel) vs. Team League of Assassins (Ras (because he wants Sarah back or dead and revenge for Al Owal, so he uses the favour from Moira and tries to get to her), Slade (who probably has joined his cause), Brother Blood, Moira (becuase the other choice is facing Merlyn), Thea (because she's been dragged to her side by Moira) and Talia)
ReplyDeleteprobably Malcom will watch the whole thing pan out and then kill Ras himself in the final scene with Ras revealing the Lazarus Pit.
Well that sounds positive. Sooo episode 14 is the kicker. Well, i can't wait. They've been on a roll the whole season, nothing else to do but go "full speed ahead." Wow just imagine season 3.....yeah i can't either. haha
ReplyDeleteI wonder if his answer to the season payoff means we'll actually see Ra's Al Ghul on the show this season?
ReplyDeleteI alsoliked his commentabout how he, Caity and Manu are creating the definitive versions of Green Arrow, Black Canary and Deathstroke. Hopefully that means she will remain THE Black Canary.
A+ to someone finally asking about Oliver's relationship with his sister. I only wish we didn't get such a vague answer.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing again and again people wanting this version of Arrow to be part of the potential Justice League movie. I'm pretty sure the TV incarnation of Arrow won't be part of the movie universe. Look, whoever comes in to write and direct those movies won't want to deal with 40+ episodes of canon all of a sudden. Especially with stories involving major DC stories like League of Shadows and Ra's Al Ghul; they'll have their own ideas on how to deal with those. Also, the studios will be investing 100s of millions of dollars into making and promoting these movies and they expect a worldwide audience. The show just isn't popular enough to merit it's integration into the movies. If they integrate TV's Arrow into the movies then they will have to take into account everything that's happened in the TV series and people will feel like they are missing something. And if nothing from the show is ever mentioned, or referred to, or used to inform movie's Arrow in the movie, then why integrate the show with the movie at all?
ReplyDeleteAlso, when it comes right down to it, if the movie universe absorbs Arrow then Arrow writers will have to check with where the movie's going from time to time, and adjust their stories to that, and maybe even retcon some things. I'd rather these guys have complete freedom to go where they want to go with this story and keep making an awesome show and remain separated from the movie universe which let's face it is setting itself up to a major disaster anyway.
