SHOWTIME® ORDERS FOURTH SEASON OF EPISODES
Matt LeBlanc To Return in His Emmy®-Nominated, Golden Globe®-Winning Role
LOS ANGELES, CA – December 11, 2013 – The award-winning, critically-acclaimed SHOWTIME comedy series EPISODES has been renewed for a fourth season. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. The new season of the SHOWTIME and BBC co-production will include nine episodes and will go back into production in 2014.
EPISODES stars Matt LeBlanc in his Emmy®-nominated and Golden Globe® Award-winning role as a fictionalized version of himself. Season three – premiering Sunday, January 12th at 10:30 P.M. ET/PT – picks up with Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig), the English couple whose hit U.K. sitcom is remade for U.S. audiences and corrupted beyond recognition, back together but they soon discover that it’s not so easy to heal old wounds. Things get no easier for Matt this year as his career and ego continue to be pummeled. New guest stars include Chris Diamantopoulos (24) in a season-long arc; Roger Bart (Revenge) appears in four episodes as LeBlanc's agent; along with Tracy Spiridakos (Revolution) as a family member of actress Morning Randolph (Mircea Monroe).
The series is created and executive produced by award-winning writing partners David Crane (Friends) & Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You), and is also executive produced by Jimmy Mulville through his Hat Trick production company.

ReplyDeleteI got through the first season and it was hilarious. The second was meh, in my opinion, and since the third hasn't started yet, I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it. But good for the show!

ReplyDeleteI'm extremely happy with this, because we all know the audiences for season 3 won't be stellar, this show has never been extremely popular (though this time it airs after Shameless/House of Lies so who knows) and for once there will be no angst that it might get cancelled, hurray!
ReplyDeletePerhaps they're doing this to speed up the process perhaps, and avoid a 18-month break between seasons like we had between season 1 and 2 (January 2011 - July 2012) and now season 2 and 3 (July 2012 - January 2014), but I like to think it's also because Showtime loved what they saw of season 3.
Given that Californication will end this Spring, and that Nurse Jackie will probably end after its 7th season too in 2015 (my guess), it's good that Showtime backs Episodes for more (especially since it's a genuine comedy, not a dramedy like so many shows on pay-cable).
