I guess this is coming to be a Christmas tradition for Arrow: In the midseason finale Oliver gets his butt kicked and spends the hiatus recovering and overcoming his feelings of self-doubt.
Heh. The plot of "Three Ghosts" actually reminds me of last season's "The Odyssey". Looks like a guy needs his session of hallucinatory introspection once a season!
Also true. Back then, it was Felicity who needed to learn his secret in order to save his life. This time, it's Barry Allen. However, the hallucination of Slade telling Oliver that he's just not strong enough reminded me a lot of last season's Episode "Year's End", when Oliver found out that he was overmatched by the Dark Archer. After all, since it is an hallucination, it is in reality Oliver expressing his own self-doubts.
Yes I thought 50/50 in a human form. When the episode was getting half-way I thought he lived, it was becoming so obvious too. Then right at the end I knew it was Slade and I'm not enthusiastic about him now. I don't think we should use Shado as a motivation for hime going darkside. Remember Oliver wasn't hardened and Slade tried to make him like that. It was just a matter of time before the jealously and now insanity took over and suppose that drug was just the trigger.
I think after reading the post-mortems that Shado was the catalyst, but I think what really came between Oliver and Slade was the Mirakuru. According to the showrunners, the reason why both Slade and Roy survived the Mirakuru is the deep anger inside them, and from what I gather, I thinkthe Mirakuru feeds on their rage. I think Slade is not going to be the same Slade we knew now, the drug is going to change him, and would turn him against everyone, with Shado's death being the excuse for turning his anger against Oliver.
Agree Shado is not the cause because ultimately Slade was abit jealous and like you've said the drug feeds on it. Or in more complex ways the drug kinda destroyed the emotional part of the brain. But could it really all be the simple?. I mean that drug gives Slade power which he could use, I think he was very powerhungry all along. But there is a choice in all this, Roy did put up a fight although I do hope Roy will be the same, but I expect differences..hopefully not evil. Hey what's going on with Barry?!. Is he going to effected on a massive scale or was there a secret we did not know about?. I honestly think that the whole his parent storyline is connected to Barry and that electrical power thingy. Even though it looked accident-prone I think that he's abit special in that regards to power. Its too early to say yet but I'm being open-minded to that one. So while we wait along the breaks I'm just going to think harder of what is next for Arrow. I hate waiting lol.
I think Barry just got his powers. I don't read the comics but apparently his accident in this episode mirrored what happened to him there. They said we'll hear about him and his suit will appear in his spin-off's pilot. I'm not sure though if we'll actually see him again on Arrow this year. I don't exactly know how that Mirakuru works but I bet Oliver knows, and I think he's going to be nicer to Roy now to save him. The last thing he would want to do now is to anger Roy and trigger the Mirakuru in him, I think he'll want him to join the Arrow team to keep a close eye on him and help him fight the Mirakuru in his system. I wonder if they'll eventually find a cure for it. If they do, Oliver could inject it to Slade as well, and it'll be much easier for him to fight Slade if Slade is stripped off his powers.
I didn't read the comics either I never heard of it. Its early days with Barry whatever it is I want Barry to help Oliver out, double the threat. Roy going to haveto know about Oliver in order for him to keep good, doing his leg with the arrow is just a starter to get Roy annoyed. The last thing Oliver needs is for Roy to turn on him or be with Slade aswell. A cure seems unlikely at this point, but how else are they going to fight Slade and possibly Roy?. It seems like Barry could be useful but we don't know what is powers are yet. And is Olivers' team have enough knowledge to find a cure? an outside help is needed.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm thinking that Slade is still alive but Oliver couldn't save him from turning evil, and Shado is dead.

ReplyDeleteWe saw Slade being injected with Mirakuru last week. I bet it made him turn evil.
ReplyDeleteHere Oliver gets his ass kicked in an hallucination. We don't know if he will get kicked in the physical world as well yet.
ReplyDeleteI meant the ass-kicking he received at the end of last episode. Do we have any information yet as to how long it will take him to recover from that?
ReplyDeleteI think he's already going to be back on his feet and screaming about Barry finding his secret tonight.

ReplyDeleteYes he did get injected, I wasn't sure he survived that but it probably did do something if he had survived.
ReplyDeleteWe know now he survived :)
