After last week Governor-centric “Live Bait”, all new “Dead Weight” continues his story. The episode begins right where we last stopped : The Governor is reunited with his old lieutenant Martinez.
They will be playing some golf ! Nice, but be reassured, it won't be the only thing to happen. What can you expect to happen next ? Here is my list :
- A new camp, with new survivors ! Yes, Martinez was not surviving out there all alone. Quite the contrary. And there is a logical reason why they are all together now. They made a really nice and safe camp. (Still, the prison is the best place !)
- New camp means new leader, and when The Governor comes in, well, it changes the dynamic a bit. It doesn't mean he wants it but he has a reputation. So yes, there will be a leadership battle.
- Some of the survivors will search an empty house and of course, it will scary and disgusting.
I’m just saying : H E A D S.
- Also, there is a weird avenger killer who murders people and writes their sins on them, like : “rapist”, “murderer”, “liar”.
- This new camp is full of alcohol ! Beers, whiskey ! At least, they know how to keep the fun going… But is it really a good idea to drink that much in a zombie apocalypse world ? … No, it’s a terrible idea.
- Megan, Brian’s adoptive daughter, will be attacked by a walker ! Will Brian lose another child or will a hero come to her rescue ?
- There will be blood and deaths ! Two minor characters will bite the dust.
- Do you miss Rick, Carl, Hershel and Michonne ? Well, you can be relieved : they are back in this episode ! But I’m not saying more.
- Three new characters will emerge from the new group : Alicia, Mitch and Pete. I’m liking Alicia, she is a strong woman. After Lorri and Andrea’s deaths and Carol’s exit, we need new women on this show ! As for the boys, Mitch and Pete, well... One of them reminds me of Shane and the other is also annoying for now, so I'll wait and see.
- Some people will try to escape from the camp… Only to find walkers waiting for them at the exit.
- Brian’s desire to change and be a good man will be put test. And by the end of the episode, you will know if he has changed or not at all.
- My favorite scene from “Dead Weight” : underwater ! Very cool and fun.
Overall, it was a nice installment but frankly, for me, it was the weakest episode of the season so far. Probably because I’m not a big fan of Brian The Governor. Anyways, it was still a good episode with a few shocks and the end was absolutely cool !
Don’t miss “Dead Weight”, it will air in the UK on Friday 29th November, on Fox ! And tonight, in the US, on AMC.

I have to be honest, I am not looking forward to this episode. I found last weeks to be extremely boring and predictable. I am not liking them trying to humanise the Governor.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your feeling. I'm not particularly fond of this episode either, but still, it is well written and The Govvernor get to interact with more people, so it's definitely more dynamic than last week.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled to see today's episode. - Me being sarcastic
ReplyDelete4everyone: don't create any hopes about seeing Hershel, Rick, Carl or Michone. Because for sure they'll show up in the end of the episode, being watched by the Governor. So, thinking about 5 minutes all at the same time and no words.
ReplyDeleteI for one am looking forward to this episode. I enjoyed last week's episode very much. It was one of my favorites this season thus far. The only preview hint that stands out to me is the murderer who kills their victims then writes their crime on their body. They say that once you murder someone it's like a gateway drug and you can't stop. Maybe Carol's out there punishing others for their crimes.
ReplyDeleteI thik the reason Carol hurts more than Andrea and Lori is that she wasn't a love interest and, whether it was Rick or Daryl, we were just scratching the surface in their interactions with her.
ReplyDeleteThat may work for the Huckelberry Quinn ship on Scandal, but The Walking Dead has always treated killing as an organic theme that changes the characters in unpredictable ways, rather than the repetitive drug addiction plot.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit bitch. I'm tired of seeing your bullshit comments. Dont watch the show if you dont like it. No one is forcing you to
ReplyDeleteShe was abused by her husband, patronized after her daughter's death, and banished for doing what she thought was right. It's very possible that she's snapped being out there on her own and she's using murder as a punishment in this new world avenge the wrongs of her past.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, Indifference established Carol was just like Rick except female: I can't picture Carol riding a horse, much like Sheriff Grimes did when he woke from the coma and left Morgan, I could picture her finding shelter and aiding a farmer, like Rick did with Hershel in the Nebraska episode, I could picture her trying to find her way to her family, like Rick did when Lori and Shane were still alive...but I can't picture Carol slaying strangers like Michonne did when Andrea found her.
ReplyDeleteCarol slaughtered two innocent survivors. If she's able to do that to two people she knew then I'm sure she'd be able to do that to strangers.
ReplyDeleteI think Martinez will be one of the two deaths mentioned. I don't think Meghan will die and I don't see both Tara and Lilly dying maybe just one of them......Tara most likely. Romain I do have one question. Where's Shumpert? Is he mentioned in this episode or what's the deal with him? Is he dead, alive, unknown?
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent guess. I don't think about Carol but I don't picture her as a murderer. Okay she killed people but it was for her survival, and protecting the group.
ReplyDeleteBut, going on a killing spree is a different thing.
I hope Carol is waiting near the prison and when they get out of the prison, she will ride with them... I'm too optimistic for this show ^^
Before I would've agreed with you that she wasn't capable of going on a killing spree but this new world does things to people. Before Carol was a meek woman unable to even defend herself against her abusive husband but in this new world she's different. Who knows what being out there alone has done to her. Having Rick and the group around served as her family and now she has nobody. With each season she got stronger and stronger even trying to coax Andrea into killing The Governor after a wild ride in the sack. Who knows what she's capable of doing now.
ReplyDeleteI must admit you are right. It's true, she goes stronger every season. I really like her character, so much evolution since her start.
ReplyDeleteI guess I like her too much so I don't want to see her that dark. We will see how she is when she gets back :)
I don't like seeing her that dark either but a normal person can only handle so much. She killed David and Karen to protect the group. Maybe out there on her own she's still trying to protect the group by murdering those who could eventually hurt them ie liars, thieves, and rapists. In her mind she's not senselessly killing others but she's protecting those she loves.
ReplyDeleteCarol didn't kill because she loved it or because she wanted to survive: she did it only to protect the group. Same reason she went into a walker filled creek to get the group more water.
ReplyDeleteNow she doesn't have a group to protect, Carol doesn't really has a reason to kill or to die for, much like Rick when he woke up from the coma in the pilot episode.
Maybe in her mind by killing liars, thieves, murderers, and rapists she's still protecting the group. Kill them before they can get to the prison to hurt the group.
ReplyDeleteTo each his own, I thoroughly enjoyed last week's episode because of the interactions and the added depth of his character. It may very well be, for me, the best episode of the season so far.
ReplyDeleteBut I've found with an episode like this, in which they took risks, in terms of entertainment value. It was an episode you either love or you hate, I guess.
Megan's death would be totally devasting to The Governor. He'll become even crazier.
ReplyDeleteActually, Shumpert's situation is dealt in this episode, yes :)
Good because I've been wondering about him. I noticed there was three tents at the beginning of last week's episode but no sign of him. I wondered if he was still alive or not. I'm glad they're not going to just sweep him under the rug but instead deal with his situation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think because Carol, much like Rick, needs to get invested in the group she's engaged with, it took a long time for her to get invested in Lori & Daryl after the death of her husband, an even longer time to get invested in Rick & his children after the deaths of Lori & Sophia, she's still not quite invested in Mika & Lizzie yet and she never got invested in the two strangers she and Rick found.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see. Time will tell. We both have good arguments on the matter.
ReplyDeleteThat could be as well. Although from the sneak peek I saw, it was hard to tell whether the scenes were connected. We saw Hershel, we saw Guv and gun, but these could have been two from completely different scenes. So maybe Guv, or One Eye as he's known now, will be looking in at the prison earlier in the episode. And I hope hope hope we finally find out who has been dangling the rats. Perhaps someone we've yet to meet, from the camp? Obviously, the plan is to weaken the fence, and that has now been done. Perhaps an ambush is in the offing? Just speculating here (7 hours to go. Can hardly wait).
ReplyDeleteThe Governor's tried to change and maybe he has but his goal now is to protect his new family and he can't do that without a safe place to protect them. Maybe instead of getting revenge he'll take the prison for other reasons such as using it for a safe haven. In the comics he used Tyreese as bait to try and take the prison but when it didn't work he beheaded Tyreese. Maybe Hershel will take Tyreese's place.
ReplyDeleteHow is the new character Alicia? Is she just another redshirt or does she come off as someone who might be in for the long haul? Does she have a reasonable amount of screentime/dialogue?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a cliffhanger. It's cool but it's not game changing yet. The mdiseason finale will be awesome if they're going where I think they are :)
ReplyDeleteShe is very cool, funny and strong. I don't think she is a red shirt, I hope she is not because she seems nice.
ReplyDeleteShe develops a connection with someone so I hope they will stay together, they're cute. She has a good amount of screentime and dialogue just enough to start liking her and to keep you interested.
Yes, you will see to who belongs those tents ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope they stick to the comics haha Hershel is one of my favorite character ! I don't want him dead... Generally, when I like a character in a show, he dies ^^
ReplyDeleteI just brought home some comics from the library, #'s 15 through 18. I will read them right now.
ReplyDeleteis the governor back to being him self by the end
ReplyDeleteWill we see who fed the rats to the walkers?
ReplyDeleteI won't spoil it :x But the question whether he has really changed or not wil be answered
ReplyDeleteI've read them all aside from this month's issue.
ReplyDeleteEach to their own obviously. I just never taken to the governor character. I actually liked Andrea and I don't think i can humanise and root for someone who mass murders people who disagree with him. He needs to become the governor from the comics and cause destruction before his ultimate demise. We need a villain we can root behind the team stopping. All of last season they had so many chances to Kill him and they didn't. No mater how much you humanise him he is still a mass murderer and an evil man, i struggle to find him misunderstood, his actions last season went beyond that. In my opinion last episode was one of the worst ever. I have not forgiven the show for not killing him off last season. I think they need to really put more depth behind some the characters they had for a while then behind him.
ReplyDeleteNo, not tonight. The matter is still unresolved. My bet it's Lizzie. Last time, she thought she could talk to a walker. c'mon...
ReplyDeleteThat was sorta hilarious. She talked to that walker like he was her pet dog.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was funny but really stupid. Carol would have been so mad !
ReplyDeleteThey should make a Governor spin off, this would be great.... and then who wants to follow Phillipe's journey could watch all his story while who likes the other characters (meaning Rick, Michone, Maggie, Glenn) could continue to watch "The Walking Dead". - for the furious comments that came and it's about to come... remember that it's a free world, no one is obligating you to read my comments or agree with them, but we can always express our opinions without calling bad names, not only because causes embarrassment, but also because I'm not giving anyone the right to call me "bitc..." or anything else.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if a Governor serires would be a great show. He belongs to The Walking Dead, even if some doesn't like him, he's a part of the show. He's here to remind Rick and the others that they still have humanity and they don't want to be like Phillipe. That was his purpose in season 3. He's the nemesis and in every show we need that. But now he seems to have changed, so what will be his purpose ?
ReplyDeleteHe could have been a worse vilain but I like they are showing he's not just a bad guy. It's this new world, it changes everything and everyone reacts differently. The Governor made his choice about how to survive, now he's dealing with the consequences
I agree with Romain we can't just concentrate on one set of survivors. Telling The Governor's story was essential in tying together the story. If it was just the group versus the walker it'd get boring quick. Don't get me wrong I enjoy seeing the core group but there's just so much they can do with them without a villain.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you... the core group needs a villain ... actually they need to suffer in the hands of a villain, this is what we expect from Walking Dead... just didn't agree with 2 special episodes for him, but anyway... everything back to normal next week... sadly is last one from mid-season.
ReplyDeletehey isn't the GoVErNOR hot shirtless???? LOL
ReplyDeleteHahah ! We will see after tonight's episode ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview, Romain aka Julian. You're making me guess. Okay, here goes: The end scene is the underwater one (just going by your saying the underwater scene and the ending scene are both cool, I'm thinking they're one and the same). From "we need new women on the show" I'm thinking either Tara or Lilly does not make it. I think Meghan does. Don't know why I think so. I know we see Hershel, because a promo showed Hershel outside. And then we see One Eye aim a gun. Are these images connected? Probably not. Drinking during a zombie apocalypse? Sounds like a good idea to me. I'll have to watch to find why it wouldn't be. Re HEADS, I'm wondering if One Eye will revert and recreate his headquarium. Other than that, ya got me stumped.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I like your guesses but the underwater scene and the end scene are different. They are cool in different ways ;)
And no, the HEADS are not in an aquarium. It's much scarier.
You tease, lol, but my bet is Rick and Carl are seen with the peas and Hershel/Michonne are seen doing whatever they were leaving to do at the end of E5. If I'm right, what do I get?
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Chandra's right, though. The end scene could involve the governor looking in at the prison and seeing our gang doing what they were doing. And as you said the ending was cool, not horrific, I guess One Eye is not going to shoot them.
ReplyDeleteI disagree. I saw a sneak peek earlier this week that showed what looked like The Governor aiming his pistol at Hershel in the woods. Maybe that's how it'll end by him either pulling the trigger or not pulling the trigger.
ReplyDeleteRomain, is the ending a cliffhanger? You say the end is really cool, so I'm curious since the next episode is the midseason finale and according to Andrew Lincoln, "the biggest thing (they've) done."
ReplyDelete
